It’s almost summertime and we have plenty of camps and activities to
keep your family active, engaged and having fun! Don’t miss all the
New Camps for kids 3-7 years old, the Survival Skills & Outdoor
Adventure Camp, and old favorites like Lego camp, BMX and Sports
Camps. (pg 6) Swim lessons will be offered at the PV Pool and the Jr.
Swim Instructor program is back. (pg. 16)

Chico Creek Nature Center Summer Carnival
The Chico Creek Nature Center is hosting a Summer Carnival complete with food
trucks, face painting, carnival games, and water slide bounce houses. This is sure to be
a fun family event! Admission is free. Tickets are 4 for $1 or participants may purchase
a carnival fun pass for $20. Individual tickets available at the carnival. Fun Passes
include wrist band for unlimited games and bounce house use for one participant.

Enjoy a delightful lunch at Lakeside Pavilion! The atmosphere is set for you to enjoy
food and conversation with friends and take in the beautiful scenery of the lake. You

Come and “Chalk it up” in downtown Chico. This great family event gives both the
novice and professional artist an opportunity to express themselves. Novice squares
can be purchased by anyone who wants to participate. These 4’ x 4’ squares are perfect
for a family, group or individual. Professional artists are encouraged to apply for a
sponsored square on “Fine Art Alley”. These 8’ x 8’ squares are sponsored by local
businesses. Applications for “Fine Art Alley” are available online at www.chicorec.com
or at the CARD Office. All chalk is provided. Any outside chalk must state it is “Lead
Free” if it is to be used in artwork. Event is tentative-please check back in July.

Family Day Camp
What better way to spend the day with your family than outdoors exploring beautiful
Bidwell Park! This family day will include archery, crafts, swimming/wading in the
creek, low ropes and obstacle courses, guided nature hikes, and outdoor games. As the
day comes to an end we will gather in a campfire type setting with songs and skits to
complete the camp day. Families provide their own lunch and snacks and may use the
park’s bbq pits, and Nature Center’s storage cubbies, as desired. Chico Creek Nature

Chico’s 51st Annual 4th of July Celebration
Movies in the Park
After 50 years, the long standing 4th of July Celebration will be changing this year. We
are currently working with the other agencies that participate in this event to plan

Come and enjoy this summer tradition! Hundreds of families enjoy free Movies in the
Park every summer. Bring a blanket or a low back chair and sit under the stars while
enjoying a family friendly movie. Refreshments will be available for purchase. All

ShortE Tee-Ball & Soccer Camp
We are taking our two most popular toddler sports and putting them together for
an awesome week at camp! Each day will focus on fun, learning the fundamentals
of the sports, and working up to being able to play a “game” (or as close to a game
that 3-5 years olds can play). There will be breaks during the morning for snacks and
crafts. All participants MUST to be potty trained. Camp is open at 8:30 AM for parents
who need care at that time. We would like all campers there by 9:00 AM. Dorothy F.

Kindergarten Countdown Camp
Is your child nervous about Kindergarten? Kinder Countdown is designed to introduce
and teach concepts learned in Kindergarten in a fun, engaging, and stress-free way!
Children will craft, sing, and play their way through the alphabet! Not only will
campers be introduced to themes to make transitioning into Kindergarten easier, but
they will also experience a camp full of fun, water play time, science experiments, and
more! All participants will need to bring a snack and water bottle to camp each day.

British Soccer Camp with “Challenger”
British Coaches
Get A Discount on British Soccer Camp! Help us house our visiting coaches. If you
host a coach in your home during the duration of the camp (1 week), you will receive
a partial $80 rebate for each coach that is housed. If you are interested in hosting a

Important Information for All Camps
We want each camper to be prepared the first day of camp. Therefore, we have detailed
information sheets for each camp. ALL forms should be completed and brought to the
first day of camp. These forms are also available online.
Registration, Refunds and Transfers
• If there is not a specific registration deadline listed, registration will close at
5:00 PM on the Thursday prior to the Monday of camp, or once the camp
is full, whichever comes first. Space is limited to a first come, first served basis.
Registration after the stated deadline is based on Supervisor approval.
• If the camp is full, you will be placed on a waiting list and contacted if space becomes
available. Camp fees are a flat rate and are not pro-rated for days not attended.
• Requests for refunds and transfers must be received by Thursday at 10:00 AM
prior to the camp start date. Please check dates closely. Should you request
a refund or transfer after the deadline has passed, we will make every effort to
fill your space. If we are able to fill your space, you will receive a full refund.
Unfortunately, we are unable to make any exceptions unless valid emergency or
medical documentation can be provided.
My First Camp
Camp is not just for the big kids! Sign up for “My First Camp” to give your little one
an amazing introduction to day camp. Our dedicated Tiny Tots staff has created a fun
week just for your toddler camper. Each day will be filled with exciting activities, play
time, and new friends. We strive to maintain a 1 staff/apprentice to 4 children ratio for
this camp. Camp maximum is 18 children. Children MUST be potty trained prior to

Introduce your child to the great outdoors at Chi-Da-Ca, CARD’s longest running
camp! Kids can’t help but have fun, get dirty and come home worn out from all the
activity that takes place in Hooker Oak Park by upper Bidwell Park. The week is spent
singing camp songs, making crafts, going on nature hikes, playing games and cooling
off in the water. Friday includes a Pow-Wow for family and friends. Buddy requests
must be submitted to the CARD office prior to the week of camp. Papoose camp t-shirts
may be purchased at the CARD office, on an individual basis, for any week of camp for
$10. Camp is open at 7:30 AM for parents who need care at that time. We would like
all campers there by 9:00 AM.

Bring your little ladybug or grasshopper down for a fun-filled week of both indoor
and outdoor activities sure to please! We will explore the life cycle of a butterfly first
hand, get down and dirty in our working garden, and take a look at life from a bug’s
perspective! Campers will squirm and wiggle their way through a crafty curriculum,
Bug Bingo, and the Cootie Bug Race. They’re sure to leave with a brand new “web” of

Camp Out with CARD Camp
Camping is a blast no matter where you go or stay! Kids will explore the outdoor
garden, enjoy s’mores on a stick, learn about animal tracks, and much more! We’ll
craft and “fish” our way through the morning and wrap up each day with flashlight
reading and stories around the “campfire”. Campers should bring a snack and water

Little Hoopsters Basketball Camp

in Chico to coach both technical and tactical skills. Use the skills you learn from

CARD’s Sports Camps provide a variety of activities that will help campers gain a “love
of the game”. Camp provides an opportunity for campers to work on learning new skills,
developing current skills, and having fun while using teamwork, sportsmanship, and
character development. All staff has high school and/or college athletic backgrounds,
have been through a variety of trainings specific to Sports Camp and are CPR/First
Aid certified. Campers will not only walk away from camp better athletes, but more
importantly, better people. We are eager to show campers what a positive impact sports
can have on their lives.

The general format for each week includes: a warm-up, teambuilding drills, skill
development stations, scrimmages, and tournament play related to the specific sport.
Below is an example day:
Have your child experience the Olympics fun! A variety of games will be played each
day, along with crafts/activities based on the Olympics countries that are formed. Not
only will your child be exposed to a variety of sports, but they will also learn about
different countries. Camp is open at 12:00 PM for parents who need care at that time.

leadership, and self-esteem in any girl who participates! Each day will focus on a

Do you have a morning camp scheduled, but are looking for some afternoon fun?
Does your child like to sleep in, but you would still like to get them involved in
something this summer? Sports Camp Afternoons is for campers who are ready to
play a variety of sports and games, learn about teamwork and sportsmanship, and
engage in friendly competition every day to earn medals! Each week will feature a
theme that will keep your camper entertained! To top off the fun, campers will go field
trips once to twice a week to local pools and other locations. Community Park “Aaron

Get the biggest bang for your buck with our full day sports camp options. Campers will
experience skill building each week in the morning and fun themes in the afternoon.
Mornings include: a warm-up, team building drills, skill development stations,
scrimmages, and tournament play related to the specific sport. Afternoon include:
themed-based games and drills with one to two field trips per week (and a field trip
every day during Field Trip Fun week!).

Mountain Bike Camp
Aren Timmel’s Mountain Bike Camp is back again for more fun MTB riding in Bidwell
Park!! Practice new skills, learn new trails, explore the creek, and make new friends!
Week one is for all campers ready to get started with mountain biking. We will start
on the smooth trails of Lower Park and take a break at the creek while exploring
Upper Park. Week 2 is for kids who have been to Mountain Bike Camp in the past
and are ready for a bit more, or to new campers who are familiar with the technical
trails of Upper Bidwell Park. We will explore a bit further into Bidwell Park, seek out
more challenging trails, and do some riding on the South Side of the park as well.
All campers should have an off-road bike, helmet, sturdy shoes, water and a lunch/
snacks. Camp meets at the CARD office.

Camp Chi-Da-Ca- Indian Camp
Mine, Craft, Build with Lego®
Introduce your child to the great outdoors at Chi-Da-Ca, CARD’s longest running
camp! Kids can’t help but have fun, get dirty, and come home worn out from all the
activity that takes place in Hooker Oak Park by upper Bidwell Park. The week is spent
singing camp songs, learning archery, making crafts, going on nature hikes, playing
games, and cooling off in the water. Friday includes a Pow-Wow for family and friends.
Buddy requests must be submitted to the CARD office prior to the week of camp. T-shirt

Kitchen Science
The kitchen is full of wonder! When we follow a recipe, we take for granted what the
role the ingredients play. In this camp, we will breakdown some recipes, tweak, and
explore what makes them work! Participants must come with some kitchen skills
(measuring and knife skills in particular that will be a part of the From Garden to
Kitchen Cooking Class earlier this summer) because we’re going to take it to the next
level. We will make some ferments, have some baking trials, create our own salad
dressing recipes, experiment with moisture, textures, and emulsions, and experience
the 5 tastes (sweet, salty, bitter, sour, and umami). Participants ought to have a

Get Cookin’
Get Cookin’ is a week-long hands-on interactive cooking camp for kids developed by
the Center for Healthy Communities. This camp features daily cooking, fun physical
activities including water play and an exciting “Chopped Challenge.” During the
camp, the kids become the chefs and learn various cooking techniques, knife safety
and how to prepare a wide variety of healthy recipes through hands-on cooking. The
kids will be cooking recipes such as hearty egg burritos, tabouli, pumpkin pudding,
and stove-top mac n’ cheese. The culmination of the summer camp is the Kids
Chopped Challenge. The challenge is to use a mystery basket of ingredients and turn
it into a dish that is judged on its creativity, presentation and taste. A panel of 3-4
judges will watch the competition, taste the food and will award a winning team.

So You Think You Can Dance Camp!
Spend time this summer learning what you miss in school: Sewing! Sewing is a fun
and dynamic lifelong skill. In June, campers will make a freeze pop holder, water bottle

California Regional Theater Drama Camp
Do you have an actor or actress in your house, or perhaps a future star? California
Regional Theatre will be offering summer workshops for kids ages 5-16. These
camps are designed to build skill in the area of vocal performance, acting and dance.

This class is necessary for people interested in working as a lifeguard. CPR for the
Professional Rescuer, First Aid and Title 22 are included in this course. Attendance is
required for all hours of class. Participants must meet the following pre-requisites: 15
years of age at time of class (must show age verification), swim 300 yards, submerge
to a minimum depth of 10 feet and retrieve a 10-pound object, and tread water for
two minutes. Participants will have to bring $35 with them for certification cards.

The Title 22 for Public Safety Personnel is a 15-hour state mandated course for
lifeguards, firefighters, police officers, ski patrol, and other safety personnel. This
course is split up in two days and covers extensive education on advanced standard First
Aid. Skill session provided throughout class to give students a better understanding of
course material. Lecture and video is the style of the course with testing after each
component. Pre-requisites: Current American Red Cross Professional Card, or AHA

Do you know a young adult looking for a valuable summer experience working with
children in an aquatic setting? The Jr. Swim Instructor Program is designed for youth,
ages 12-15. This program partners youth aids with our CARD summer aquatic staff and
is designed to prepare and train young adults to become future swim instructors. The Jr.
S.I.P training will provide a hands-on practical experience learning the basics of working
with children ages 3 to 9 years old in an aquatic setting. While this training is specific
to swimming lessons, the Jr. S.I. will find aspects of the training that may be applied
to any job. Jr. S.I.’s will be placed in a swim level based on their own aquatic comfort
level. Jr. S.I.’s must be able to swim at a minimum level 4. If you would like additional

This class is designed to teach children basic, elementary aquatic skills. These skills
are the stepping stones to becoming a more confident and successful swimmer.

Level Two: Fundamental Aquatic Skills (Guppy)
This level marks the beginning of true locomotion skills. Students learn to float without
support and recover to a vertical position. Students further develop simultaneous and
alternating arm and leg actions on front and back that lay the foundation of further
strokes. For this level of instruction, students should already be able to enter the water
independently and travel at least 5 yards. In addition, students should be able to glide
on their front at least two body lengths without instructor assistance. (Suggested ages:
6-9 years)
Level Four: Stroke Improvement (Swordfish)
In level four, students improve their skills and increase their endurance by swimming
familiar strokes for greater distances. Students will be introduced to sidestroke,
backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly and the basics of turning at the wall. Students
should already be able to jump confidently into deep water from the side of the pool,
swim freestyle 15 yards, maintain position by treading or floating for 30 seconds, and
swim elementary backstroke for 15 yards. (Suggested ages: 9-14 years)

The CARD Summer Recreational Swim Team has grown in popularity in each of its
last five years. The goals of the program are to create a fun and healthy atmosphere
where kids can experience what it’s like to be a part of a group swim team, and learn
about competitive swimming. Swimmers will work on stroke technique, drills, starts,

Thrive is a hybrid homeschool program that provides structured, adult-led classes
as well as open structured, guided exploration sessions in a warm, inviting space.
Students spend their days learning and creating while spending time with other

Classes are led by adults from our community who have an interest or skill that they
are excited to share and teach. All classes are hands on and project based and meet
a minimum of three state standards. All of our instructors have a clear background/
fingerprint clearance and have been hand selected to provide your student a quality,
caring class experience. New classes every 7 weeks means there is something for everyone.
Open structured hours offer students the opportunity to explore their varied
interests with the support of caring mentors. Learning invitations are presented
in an environment that fosters imagination, self- motivation, and meaningful
experiences. Books, websites, magazines, nature, music, math concepts, science
projects, art projects, building materials, creative play, and idea sharing will spark
the imagination. Advisors work with the children to create an emergent and free
flowing curriculum that derives from the imaginations of the children enrolled.
State standards are met by reflecting back on work and projects students choose to
participate in.

Looking for a safe, fun, and enriching place to send your children after school? If
so, CARD’s Kids On Campus After-School Program is the place for you! In addition to
time for homework, arts, crafts, games, free play and a healthy snack, participants
are introduced to a variety of enrichment opportunities. This program follows the
school calendar. Participants are signed in and out every day. The ratio of staff to
children is 1:12, and staff are CPR and First Aid certified.

for Learning (CCL) to offer a Pre K program for children 4 to 5 years old who will

preparation, as well as music, movement, art and science, the CCL offers a quality
program that will help prepare your child for kindergarten. Class size is limited to
10 children. This program operates September-May with monthly fees of $300. If

camp. Our main camp program and activities are 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM and all campers

The Chico Creek Nature Center is hosting a Summer Carnival complete with food trucks,

Family Day Camp
What better way to spend the day with your family than outdoors exploring beautiful
Bidwell Park! This family day will include archery, crafts, swimming/wading in the

Please join us for a weekly story time in the Nature Center Living Animal Museum.

Nature School
Nature School is a first learning experience in nature. It is a drop-off program
designed for Pre K, TK, and Kindergartners. Young first graders may also enjoy this
class. Children learn about nature, letters, numbers, colors, and shapes through crafts,

in and uses curriculum from Growing Up Wild that meets state standards in science,

Something to observe in this program is how your child plays adjacent to other
children in the playgroup. This cooperative social interaction is called parallel
play and helps children begin language development, build confidence, and
form relationships. Your child will increasingly learn to share and become aware
of other’s emotions, as well as learn cause and effect through trial and error of
adjusting and solving problems in play.
This class is formatted as a parent/child class with the goal of giving parents
an opportunity to bond, meet other parents that have children the same age as
theirs, and provide parent support. Not only are our classes a wonderful bonding

Tiny Tots
A great first classroom experience for your child! This program is designed to model
and teach your child age appropriate skills so they will confidently transition into
a Pre-K program or Kindergarten. We have designed the program to make learning
participation fun and engaging! We strive to provide a positive, safe, and nurturing
learning environment that addresses each student’s individual needs. We know that
each child has a different learning style and we will incorporate many styles while
engaging all students in a fun and supportive manner.
Each day is full of fun and age appropriate activities for your child. While

Senior Wellness Program
The Senior Wellness Program is designed for adults 55 or older who have a variety
of medical issues that include, but are not limited to: high blood pressure, cancer,
diabetes, joint replacements, cardiac, and/or pulmonary issues. As a member of the
Senior Wellness Program, you will receive an individualized program for the Water
Wellness and/or the Fitness Floor Class. You will be continually monitored and will
progress as you gain stamina, strength, and better range of motion. Please allow
time after you register for scheduling your initial consultation and program design.

Fitness for Those with Motor Impairment

Strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination are all addressed using Tai Chi, Qi

Potato mashers, rolling pins and spray bottles, what do these have to do with art? You

West Coast Swing
The West Coast Swing Dance is the most versatile style of swing dance and can be

Hula/Tahitian Dance
Dance to the rhythm of the Islands! We will take you on an exciting island style journey
as you learn basic footwork, hip movements, and hand gestures of the graceful art

Baby Ballet
Three little kittens lost their mittens and they danced away to find them! What if we

Movement and Sound
Do you have a high energy mover? We’ve got just the class. This dance class is for kids
who love to dance, but who may not appreciate tutus and tights. Each themed class
has lots of high energy dances. We’ll travel to the swamp, squish in the mud, and hide
like alligators, or perhaps we’ll take a trip to the circus, complete with silly clowns. We
use lots of costumes, stories, props and instruments to have a rollicking good time!

Learn the basics of tap with a dose of tumbling for good measure! This class covers the
fundamentals of tap, along with musicality, rhythm games, tumbling, and an obstacle

World Dance Vocal Class
Learn to sing World Dance songs! The class instructor may use the internet to
“connect live” to professional singers and musicians living outside the local area.
World Dance music is often in odd time meters, e.g., 7/8, 9/8, etc. Class instructor will
assist students in learning these exciting time meters and distribute musical notation
and other available resources to assist practicing of song material between classes.
Goals of the class will be to sing, to have fun, to “stretch” one’s musical brain, to make
new friends, and to offer performance opportunities for singers. Sunday morning class
times are due to the large time difference between the USA and Europe. minors okay

Jump Start with Art
Potato mashers, rolling pins and spray bottles, what do these have to do with art? You
and your child will learn how to use different tools to paint, draw, and watercolor.
Learn ways to creatively use items around your house to create beautiful art. Parents,
be warned, your child is sure to use all of their creative juices to create, sometimes
even with their hands and feet. Children should come dressed in clothes that are
able to get dirty or stained. There is a $10 supply fee payable to the instructor at the

Chico Community Concert Band
Pick up your instrument, dust it off and get ready to play! There are no auditions
for this band, just sign up and come on down to Tuesday night rehearsals. The
Chico Community Band, a wind and percussion ensemble with approximately 40
participants, is open to musicians ranging from teens to seniors. Formed before
World War II, the Band continues to practice a repertoire of marches, show tunes,
and innovative pieces by current composers that it performs for local audiences.
Performances include Memorial Day, 4th of July, and Veterans Day celebrations, as
well as a Friday Night Concert in the Park and a spring concert. Call Bob Eicher

Beginning Photoshop Elements®
Make your photos become works of art! Learn to use popular and affordable Adobe
Photoshop Elements® (Photoshop CC or earlier CS users welcome) to make your
digital photos really stand out. We tour the program, starting from basic adjustments,

Pickleball
Pickleball is the fastest growing sport in the United States and CARD has courts available
for all ability levels! Pickleball is a combination of badminton, tennis, and table tennis
played with paddles and a wiffle ball. CARD Courts are located at Community Park on
MLK Drive off of 20th Street. Court times vary depending on location. Call CARD and

Walk with a Doc is led by a doctor affiliated with Enloe Medical Center. The walks start
out with a health-inspiring message from the physician, then participants (along with
the doctor) walk laps around the park for 40-45 minutes. Each month, a doctor from a
different specialty leads the walk, bringing a unique health message. Participants are
encouraged walk a minimum of 30 minutes, five days a week, tracking their time on
a walking log, then bring their walking log to the next Walk with a Doc to be entered
into a monthly prize drawing. All walks are from 8:00-9:00 am.

Our Coaches of the Quarter, Coach Jon Simmons and William Cotton have the spirit
of “love of the game” within him! Not only is he a fantastic flag football coach, but
he is an amazing person. Coach Simmons and Coach Cotton always go above and
beyond to make sure that their players are better athletes, but more importantly,
better people by the end of the season. Coach Simmons says, “To me ‘for the love of
the game’ is a nice reminder that all sports are games in the purest form. No matter
the level of competition, the slogan serves as a reminder to maintain our focus on
enjoyment (love) of the game and not just winning. A focus on a love of the game
helps keep interest up and allows everyone to enjoy it.”
Coach Simmons and Coach Cotton are masters at using flag football as the vehicle
to emphasize character development skills throughout the season. They say, “To
help instill a ‘love of the game’ in our players, we focus on making the game
enjoyable and structure everything around our third grade audience. We work to
hit a good balance between learning and simply having fun while partnering with
the parents and others to support our goals. Keeping everyone on the same page and
working toward the same goal with a focus on a ‘love of the game’ is imperative.”

We are so lucky to have them as a part of our program, and cannot express our

perfect league for them! Practices will concentrate on skill building, setting, passing,

FREE Summer Jr. Giants Program
(K-7th grade in fall 2016)
Jr. Giants is a FREE, non-competitive summer baseball program for boys and
girls, sponsored by the San Francisco Giants Community Fund and the Chico Area
Recreation and Park District. Junior Giants is a great opportunity for boys and girls
going into the K-7th grade in fall 2016 (must be 5 years old by July 1, 2016). Players
will learn the skills of baseball in a positive and fun format. Junior Giants is more
than just a baseball program; it has character development, health, education, and
violence prevention programs within it as well! Informational flyer available online at

This program requires volunteer parent participation. Volunteer positions available

Volleyball Academy
Does your player need a little extra work before the season starts? This volleyball
academy is a great opportunity for players to focus on the fundamental skills with
optimal results before leagues begin. The first day will focus on passing and serving
with game-like scenarios at the end. The second day will progress to setting and hitting
with scrimmages at the end of the session. The best part is we will be at the sand courts
the second day! Show up the first day and be ready to play! You will not be contacted

of our programs or instructors, we encourage you to contact us immediately so
we can work to resolve your concern and improve the quality of our programs
for all participants. If you are not completely satisfied, contact us and we will
arrange for you to do one of the following:
1. Repeat the program at no charge.
2. Receive full credit that can be applied to any other program.
3. Receive a full refund.
Currently, this guarantee applies to all of our programs except Adult Leagues,

In the event CARD needs to cancel a class or program due to low enrollment,
inclement weather, or any other unforeseen circumstance, you will receive a full
refund of the registration fee. We understand that unexpected circumstances
may also arise resulting in a need for you to withdraw from a class or program.
If so, please notify us prior to the first day of the class, and you will receive a
full refund. Unfortunately, due to the nature of some of the programs, there
are exceptions. Please refer to the program for additional information and
exceptions. Requests for refunds or transfers made be made in person, by email
or by phone. Your receipt, cancelled check or proof on identification may be

recreation opportunities to the greater Chico Community in a coordinated and
cost effective manner.

CARD Facts
The Chico Area Recreation and Park District is a California Special District. CARD is
neither a County nor City department. While we work alongside the City in several
aspects, we are not governed by the City of Chico. We are a separate government
entity (a special district) operating under Section 5780 of the California Public
Resources Code formed by public vote in 1948.
Did you know that CARD operates and maintains 11 parks totaling 190 acres, 4
community centers, and two aquatic facilities?
CARD is governed by an elected five member Board of Directors, each serving a four
year term. CARD has a salaried General Manager who manages the operation of all
District staff, programs, and facilities. There are 32 full-time and over 300 part time
employees whose duties are directed toward the operation of recreation programs
and the maintenance of parks and facilities.

responsible for Sycamore Field at 1 mile Recreation Area, and Hooker Oak Park.
Our Budget
CARD revenue comes from many different sources. While fee based programs
and rentals generate the bulk of our revenue, other sources include Property
Taxes, RDA Passthrough funds, Assessments and Park Impact fees. Our budget
expenditures include Salaries and Benefits, Services and Supplies, Capital
Projects and Debt Payments.

Agreement, Waiver and Release
I have carefully read the description of RECREATIONAL class(es), program(s) and activity(ies) (collectively
referred to as “RECREATIONAL ACTIVITY”) for which I am registering and in consideration for being
permitted by the Chico Area Recreation and Park District (hereafter referred to as “CARD”), to participate in
the RECREATIONAL ACTIVITY and as described in the Activity Guide, flyers, correspondence, newsletters,
website, text, and/or e-mail. I for myself, personal representative, assigns, heirs, and next of kin, hereby
waive, release and discharge any and all claims for damages for personal injury, death or property damage
which I may have, or which may hereafter accrue to me, as a result of participation in said RECREATIONAL
ACTIVITY. I certify and represent that I am in good health and physically able to participate in said
Activity. I fully understand the RECREATIONAL ACTIVITY involves risks and I fully accept all such rights
and responsibilities for losses, costs and damages I incur as a result of my VOLUNTARY participation in
the RECREATIONAL ACTIVITY. This release is intended to release and discharge in advance CARD (its
directors, officers, employees, volunteers, and agents) from any and all liability arising out of or connected
in any way with my VOLUNTARY participation in said RECREATIONAL ACTIVITY. It is understood that this
RECREATIONAL ACTIVITY involves an element of risk of accidents INHERENT TO THE RECREATIONAL
ACTIVITY, and knowing those risks I hereby VOLUNTARILY assume those risks. It is further agreed that this
Agreement, Waiver, and Release is to be binding on my heirs and assigns. I agree to indemnify and to hold
the above persons or entities free and harmless from any loss, liability, damage, cost or expense which they
may incur as the result of my death or injury or property damage that I may sustain while participating in said
RECREATIONAL ACTIVITY. I agree that if any portion of this Agreement, Waiver, and Release is held to be
invalid, the balance shall remain in full force and effect.
Parental/Legal Guardian Consent: (This form must be completed and signed by a parent/guardian if applicant
is under 18 years of age.) I hereby consent to my son/daughter/ward’s participation in the RECREATIONAL
ACTIVITY and as described in the Activity Guide, flyers, correspondence, newsletters, website, text, and/or
e-mail and I hereby execute this Agreement, Waiver, and Release on his/her behalf. I certify and represent
that said minor is in good health and physically able to participate in said RECREATIONAL ACTIVITY. I for
myself and said minor’s personal representative, assigns, heirs, and next of kin, hereby waive, release and
discharge any and all claims for damages for personal injury, death or property damage which I and/or said
minor may have, or which may hereafter accrue, as a result of participation in said Activity. I fully understand
that the RECREATIONAL ACTIVITY involves unknown risks and dangers and I fully accept all such rights
and responsibilities for losses, costs and damages incurred as a result of his/her participation in the Activity.
