Jackson visited SSICP to provide a Violence
Prevention Workshop for SSICP students getting
ready for Spring Break.
Mr. Jackson, along with Lead Coordinator L'Tanya
Simmons, shared with students preventative ways
to make proper decisions concerning conflict
resolutions in the streets especially during the
upcoming warmer summer months.

provided practice Q&A conversational exercises in
Spanish for the Introductory Spanish Students to
prep the SSICP students for their upcoming
Spanish quiz.
Leslie also discussed what it's like to work with
Executive Producer of "POWER" Curtis “50 CENT”
Jackson.

Reclamation Cook County Commissioner
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 15th, 2015
Honors SSICP Art Students [Brent Stamps, Jesse
Lane, Nayanna Turner, Alizha Vernon, Selah
Amouku, Amari Curry, Jalisa Hemmingway, and
Mia Davis] were recognized by Metropolitan Water
Reclamation
District
of
Greater
Chicago
Commissioner Kari K Steele for her inaugural Rain
Barrell Art Contest.
The school-wide contest targeted students that
showed off their artistic point of view on the
environment.
ALL SSICP Students will receive a FREE COMP
lunch & afternoon date with the Commissioner
which will include an exclusive downtown boat ride
along the Chicago River during the month of June.

SSICP Senior Student Dominique Hall received the
ever coveted inaugural ALYSSA MILANO Softball
Player of the Month Award in tribute to her
leadership on and off the baseball diamond.
Legendary Actress Alyssa Milano also has her own
NBA/NFL & MLB women's clothing line called
"TOUCH" and was a superstar softball player
herself growing up in Brooklyn.
Alyssa sent our CAPTAIN of our SSICP Softball
Team a personally autographed baseball book
authored by her as well as a personally signed

being a positive inspiration to young ladies
throughout the State of Illinois.

receives the SSICP Soccer Player of the Month in
tribute to scoring the first goal of the season for the
SSICP
Tars
Soccer
Team
&
overall
leadership/work ethic she has displayed this year.
Esperanza's goal also gave the Lady Tars Soccer
Team their first point of the season; forging a 1 NIL
Tie at home vs. their arch rival Epic Academy
Legends.
After that game the Tars Soccer Team went on to
win 2 of their last three regular season games to
push into the playoffs for the first time in school
history.
Ms. Gonzalez won 8 Tickets to a Chicago White
Sox home game and autographed soccer ball to
USA Olympic Great Landon Donovan.

ERIC JOHNSON receives special invite from
STEVE HARVEY in JUNE
THURSDAY, MAY 7th , 2015
Senior Eric Johnson recently received an exclusive
invitation from "The Original King of Comedy" and
has been accepted to "The Steve Harvey
Mentoring Program for Young Men" in Dallas,
Texas which will take place between Tuesday,
June 9th through Sunday, June 14th, 2015.
Earlier in January Eric Johnson was chosen to
participate in the annual "Steve Harvey Mentoring
Program for Young Men" conference at Chicago
State University.
Students throughout the weekend were mentored
by Mr. Steve Harvey, himself, & his many male
working corporate professionals & officers from the
U.S Navy, U.S Army, U.S Air Force & U.S Marines.
The conference taught the students the importance
of trust, leadership, focus, accountability and
discipline in order to achieve one’s life goals.
Eric Johnson was the MVP of the conference in
winning the following awards from the entire camp
at the end of the conference

Not bad earning those accolades out of 100
Chosen High School Males selected for the annual
