1855 SPRINGFIELD
Sesquicentennial Model
1/200 Limited Edition commemorating
the 150th Anniversary of the American Civil War
US MODEL 1855 PERCUSSION RIFLE
The Model 1855 was the first rifle musket to be produced in the United States. It was manufactured at both the Springfield and Harpers Ferry Armories. It was also the first
rifle to use the .58 caliber mini ball which revolutionized warfare by allowing ease of loading yet attaining deadly accuracy. The lock of the Model 1855 contained the Maynard tape
primer system. This system eliminated the need of a percussion cap (although normal percussion caps were fully compatible with the Maynard system) by using a roll of caps to ignite
the gunpowder. These caps were remarkably similar to a modern day roll caps for toy cap pistols. These weapons were primarily in the hands of the U.S. Regular army so very few
state volunteers managed to get their hands on them. Only about 7,000 of these weapons were made and they were soon replaced by the Model 1861 Springfield. The model features
a full one piece walnut hand oil finished stock. The lock features a non-functioning, Maynard Tape Primer, lid engraved with an American eagle. The lid will open and close.

accomplishing his goal. Pages yellowing and growing brittle with age,
Sam Watkins’ own hand marked revision of Co. Aytch was known
only to his family until his great–granddaughter determined to share it
with the world. Never before published, here is the Civil War classic
as Sam wanted it revised complete with his edits, new perspectives,
authoritative text, and images of his changes. 65 historical images,
many never before published. HB w/dj, 6 x 9, 293 pages. BO1383 AMERICAN SWORDS AND SWORD MAKERS by Richard Bezdek

UBERTI WALKER REVOLVER: The Walker revolver is one
of the most famous revolvers
made by Colt. Named for the Texan, Captain Samuel Walker, who suggested many of the design changes that made this
revolver the first “magnum” in history. It was manufactured in 1847 and only 1,100 were made.
UBERTI 1848 BABY DRAGOON (Wells Fargo): The Colt Baby Dragoon was manufactured from 1847 through
1850 with a total of approximately 15,000 being produced. It was the first pocket revolver made at Colt’s Hartford plant
and was a smaller version of the .44 caliber Dragoon models.

UBERTI 1860 ARMY REVOLVER: The Colt 1860 Army revolver was produced from 1860-1873 with a total of

DIXIE SPILLER & BURR REVOLVER & KIT: One of the rarest Civil War revolvers; prized by collectors today. Total
production of the original Confederate revolver was only 1451 guns, a far cry from the contract commissioned by the CSA
for 15,000 guns. The firm of Spiller & Burr, Macon, Georgia produced approximately 700 of these revolvers; the remainder
were made by the Confederate government after it purchased the firm in 1864. The value of one of these rare revolvers today
ranges from $1500 to $2500. This in itself is a bargain even at today’s prices when we consider that the Confederacy paid
Spiller & Burr an initial $60 (contract price of each gun was $43) and the government ended up buying the Macon armory
just to get these few guns produced. N/SSA approved.

DIXIE STARR ARMS CO. DOUBLE ACTION 1858 ARMY REVOLVER: Starr Arms Company of Binghamton and Yonkers, New
York, made the double action army revolver in the late 1850s and early 1860s with a total quantity of about 23,000. The double action of
the Starr revovler is unique in that there are essentially two triggers. The large front trigger rotates and locks the cylinder and at the end
of its travel depresses the rear trigger which allows the hammer to fall.

BO0784 THE MUZZLE LOADING RIFLE...THEN AND
NOW by Walter M. Cline
One of the most influential persons in the founding of the
National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association prior to 1940 was
Walter M. Cline. He made a life long study of muzzle loading
guns, match shooting, and gunmaking methods. He wrote extensively for “THE AMERICAN RIFLEMAN” in the 1920s and
1930s. After his death in 1941, his wife, Lucy Hale Cline, published this book. In 1983 NMLRA introduced this book again
as part of the celebration of the 50th anniversary of NMLRA. In this book you will meet some of the “Old Timers” who were
instrumental in keeping the past alive and giving us today the
sport of black powder shooting and hunting. If you want to know more about the early
history of the NMLRA, or if you simply hold a fondness for muzzle loaders, this book
is for you. Hb, 8 x 10 3/4, 162 pgs. Illustrated w/old photos. . . . $ 32.00

the Alamo in the hands of Mexicans led
by Santa Ana and some
even saw service in the Confederate

PEDERSOLI “1777 CORRIGÉ AN IX” CHARLEVILLE MUSKET: An exact copy of the famous French flintlock musket modified and employed during the 9th year of the French Revolution. It was the basic arm of the Napoleonic infantry. Different from the 1777
Charleville (our FR0930) in that the “Corrigé An IX” has 3 barrel bands held in place with retaining springs instead of screws. Frizzen is
a slightly different shape and lockplate is marked somewhat differently — and in French — however, they are both marked St. Etienne.
This is an oversized package and requires an additional $16.00 shipping & handling.

stitched to the frog. See page 38 of Sketch Book ‘76. High

over 200,000 being made. The 1860 took the place of the 3rd Model Dragoon and ranks third in the total number produced

longer than usual firearms and holds
double barrel shotguns comfortably.

FUR HATS: Around 1755, early in
the fur trade through Pennsylvania
and Ohio, Pitt’s Landing (or Ft.
Pitt) was settled at the confluence
of the Monongahela and Allegheny
Rivers. The settlement was later called Pittsburgh; it is at this juncture that
the Ohio River forms. Furs were traded down the river to Cincinnati where
a thriving fur market developed during the latter part of the 18th century.
That trade exists there today.
Each hat is made of two professionally tanned hides; it has a flat crown
and straight sides with the appropriate tail attached at the back. The animal’s face has also been tanned and
attached to the front of the fur hat. Each hat is lined in quilted cotton; available in one size only (large, 7 1/4”
to 7 1/2”), but the lining can be sized to fit.

HOMESPUN SONGS: These are the actual songs sung by
soldiers on both sides, accompanied by instruments of the time,
played in the style and manner of the 1860s. Bobby Horton of
Birmingham, Alabama, has gone to a great deal of trouble to

fiddle made in Austria in 1795 and a cornet once played by a man

KNIFEMAKING WITH WILLIAM WHITE: This very informative 70 minute color production features bladesmith William “Cousin
Willie” White of Woodbury, Kentucky, as he demonstrates how to make a knife in a
forge. White explains in every day terms the steps he uses as he forges a knife from a
piece of flat stock steel, in this instance a piece of automobile leaf spring. Using mostly
hand tools, an ordinary bench grinder and a hand-held electric drill as his only “machines,” he shows exactly how to heat and shape the blade with a forge, hammer and
anvil. The next steps involve the use of files and sandpaper to final finish and polish the blade to a mirror finish. This is followed
by instruction on tempering the knife using a kitchen stove as a heat source and determining the degree of temperature in the blade
by observing the changing colors of the steel. White ends by showing how the handle is fitted and how pewter bolsters and butt are
poured and shaped. This instruction will save the aspiring knifemaker many hours of trial and error. William White reveals some
trade “secrets” it has taken many professional knifemakers years to learn. Available on DVD. PIONEERING: The
