FROM THE PRINCIPAL...STEVE MORRILL
This will be my final Forecast message of the year. I'd like to take time to extend a message of appreciation
to our entire school community. I believe that this has been a year of significant student achievement and
memorable experiences. From my perspective, it has been an incredibly positive and productive year. I
also know that the successes of this year are the result of all stake holders. We have great students,
parents, and staff! All of these groups have played an integral role in the success of this year. Thank you!
Thank you to our PTO and all others who have volunteered their time and talents to Wredling. Educating
students is a collective effort. We could not do this without you!
Wredling students are looking forward to the time away from school. I look at summer as an excellent
opportunity for parents and children to spend quality time together. During this great time of year, try to
get the most out of your interactions with your children. Seize the opportunity to reinforce learning with
your kids. Don’t miss out on the wonderful gift of time that the season of summer provides us. Enjoy your
children this summer and take advantage of the constant learning opportunities all around.
Below are a few suggestions to reinforce your child’s learning during the summer months:
 When possible, include your student in the family decision making process
 Model reading for pleasure
 Limit your student’s individual time spent with social technology
 Provide your kids with real life opportunities to problem solve
 Encourage your child to read for leisure
 Make your children aware of the math problems all around
 Persuade your kids to get outside and play
 Spend unstructured time with your child to get to know him/her
better
Enjoy the Memorial Day Weekend!
Have a safe and restful summer! See you on August 24th.
~Steve
PTO PRESIDENT FOR NEXT YEAR
The Wredling PTO is looking for a PTO President for the 2016-2017 school year. Please consider
volunteering for this important group that helps the entire Wredling Community. Contact Joelle Soloman
(mjmsolomon@comcast.net) with any questions.
FUEL UP TO PLAY 60
On Saturday, May 21st, four Wredling students, Mr. Russ Williams,
and nearly 170 student and teachers from across Illinois gathered
at the Walter Payton Center for the 9th and final Fuel Up to Play
60 Reward Summit of 2016. They interacted with Chicago Bears
linebacker Sam Acho, who discussed the importance of living a
healthy lifestyle. They participated in a drum fitness activity,
learned how to make nutritious yogurt parfaits from the state's
student ambassadors, and learned about life on a dairy farm from
farmer Brock Irwin and his family. The day ended with the entire
group playing football on the field with Bears punter Pat
O’Donnell and defensive back Adrian Amos, along with members
of the Glenbard West High School football team. It was a great
way to end the 2016 Fuel Up to Play 60 Reward Summit season!
On Tuesday night, Wredling and Haines Fuel Up To Play
60 students teamed up to fight Hunger! Ms. Irish
Whalen and Mr. Russ Williams accompanied students to
the Northern Illinois Food Bank. The teams packed a
total of 4,076 pounds of food which will provide 3,396
meals for our hungry neighbors.
Listen to the morning announcements next August and
join the FUEL UP TO PLAY 60 team!
LEARNSTORM CHICAGO FINAL EVENT
A group of Wredling students worked their way to Khan
Academy's Final Celebration on Saturday, April 30th. They were
joined by Ms. Anna LaFronza and Mr. Doug Springborn, Wredling
teachers. At the final celebration, they were able to discover and
explore their learning through robot programming, weather
balloons, and even Google Cardboard where they were able to
travel the world using virtual technology.

SUMMER MUSICAL
Anything can happen if you let it! Wredling Middle School PTO and
Marquee Youth Stage (also known as MyStage) join forces to produce
MARY POPPINS at Norris Theater this August! MyStage has been kind
enough to let us partner with them because the show will be a fundraiser
for Wredling's PTO. We need singers, dancers, performers, AND pit
musicians to soar with MyStage in its upcoming full scale musical, Mary
Poppins! Flying will be made possible by Chicago Flyhouse, and
performers of all talents are needed. For more information, check out
MyStage's website: http://www.marqueeyouth.org/mary-poppins.html.

Summer Athletic Camps
Dear Parents,
As you know, summer is just around the corner and we are busy planning our summer athletic camps.
Our camps will offer a variety of opportunities for students to improve their skills and have fun in four
different sports! This year we have added some new camps. All summer athletic camps will be
facilitated by the District 303 coaches. Students will participate in a variety of skill-building activities
and will be introduced to the same plays and philosophies that they will use when participating in
Wredling athletics. The philosophy of our camps is simple: Have fun, improve skills, and learn good
sportsmanship!
On line credit card/Debit card payment is now being accepted.

The jack-of-all trades, Bert, introduces us to England in 1910 and the troubled Banks family.
Young Jane and Michael have sent many a nanny packing before Mary Poppins arrives on
their doorstep. Using a combination of magic and common sense, she must teach the family
how to value each other again. Mary Poppins takes the children on many magical and
memorable adventures, but Jane and Michael aren't the only ones she has a profound effect
upon. Even grown-ups can learn a lesson or two from the nanny who advises that
"Anything can happen if you let it."
Mary Poppins is an enchanting mixture of an irresistible story, unforgettable songs,
breathtaking dance numbers, and astonishing stagecraft.
