General Advice and Information
Edinburgh Castle Esplanade is an outdoor venue, so please come appropriately dressed in warm and waterproof clothing (as
required) and wear sturdy footwear to negotiate the cobbled entrance and tiered seating. Concerts will go ahead in the event
of inclement weather, unless is it deemed unsafe to do so. Seating high in the grandstands is not recommended for those who
suffer from vertigo or those with breathing difficulties or heart complaints.
This is an outdoor show.
Management reserve the right of admission.
Edinburgh Castle is a non-smoking venue.
Alcohol and bottled drinks over 500ml are not permitted into the arena.
Under 16’s must be accompanied by an adult.
Disabled/Ambulant Disabled Tickets
People with disabilities are welcome at Edinburgh Castle and facilities exist for wheelchairs users at our concerts. There is a
designated wheelchair viewing area located at the base of blocks 2, 3, 4 & 5 and 12,13,14 & 15. The arena also has an area for
ambulant disabled patrons in blocks 12, 13, 14 and 15.
Please go to www.ticketmaster.com or contact 08444 999 990 if you wish to purchase a disabled or ambulant disabled ticket.
Wheelchair users will receive one additional complimentary ticket for their companion to help escort into and out of the event
arena. Please be advised that disabled and ambulant disabled tickets are limited, so we recommend booking early.
We will always endeavour to allow a full party to sit/stand together. However, due to capacity limits we cannot guarantee this
at all times.
Access and Facilities for Disabled/Ambulant Disabled Patrons
Access to the venue is via Castlehill - a steep, cobbled street, which is the only access route into the venue. Those with
disabled tickets will, in the majority of cases, not have to join the main queuing system - please present your tickets at the first
ticket check located beside The Hub (The Lawnmarket/the bottom of Castlehill) for priority entry by 6.30pm latest.
Should any disabled ticket holders wish to be dropped off in a vehicle at the entrance to the venue, please ensure this vehicle
arrives at The Hub (The Lawnmarket/the bottom of Castlehill) by 6.15pm latest. Cars must have left Castlehill by 6.30pm latest.
After this time, vehicles will not be granted access to drop off, so please ensure you come in plenty of time. Please also ensure
you have your tickets ready to present to staff at barriers and cooperate with stewards, who are there to assist you. Please
approach the venue via The Lawnmarket (from George 1V Bridge/The Mound) and not from via Johnston Terrace, in order to
gain this vehicle access.
There are toilet facilities for disabled patrons available on the Esplanade.
Disabled Parking
Please note, there is no parking at Edinburgh Castle, but we do allow vehicle access for disabled patrons to be dropped off on
show days – you should arrive by 6.15pm, and ensure vehicles have left the Esplanade by 6.30pm (as above). These vehicles
should approach via the Lawnmarket/Royal Mile and not from Johnston Terrace. There is a limited amount of parking for blue
badge holders just off the Royal Mile at St Giles Street, EH1 1PT (first come, first served basis and at the discretion of the City
of Edinburgh Council). The nearest NCP Car Park is located on Castle Terrace, EH1 2EW (please be advised there is a 10 minute
uphill walk from this point to the entrance of the concert arena).
Visit www.ncp.co.uk for more information on nearby car parks.
Alternatively, there are pay and display parking bays located in the City Centre.
