Sunday Night Ministries Welcome to East Point! It can be intimidating to be in a new place, but we want you to know that you are welcome here. At East Point we are trying to "BE church" in such a way that Jesus' passion is our purpose. If we can help you in any way, please let us know. Our shepherds, ministers, ushers, worship leaders, Bible class teachers--really anyone you can identify as a member here--will be eager to help address your questions or needs. So do not hesitate to ask questions if you have them. We want to serve like Christ served. If you would fill out a white attendance card, we would love to have your contact information so we can talk with you soon! In addition to the singing and study we have at 5:00 p.m. at the building on Sunday evenings, we have AGAPE Groups that meet in homes around the greater Wichita area as well. These groups meet at either 5:00 or 6:00 p.m. and are intended to help us grow in Action, Godliness, Accountability, Prayer, and Encouragement. All ages are welcome to participate at the building or in one of these small group ministries. If you have questions about the AGAPE Groups, please contact Patrick Barber: patrick@epcofc.org; 684-3723 (office); 200-7780 (cell). When I was a history teacher, my classes would sometimes talk about what might have happened if, say, the Japanese would not have attacked Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. Would the U.S. still have entered the war? Or, what if the Bay of Pigs invasion of Cuba in 1961 had been successful? Or, what if President Carter would have won reelection in 1980? You get the idea. It can be a fun game that makes you think about how the world might have been different-for better or worse. I've heard preachers play the same game with their churches: What if Jesus chose not to die for us? What if God wasn't merciful? What if.... Think how different his ministry and impact would have been if everything else was the same but he never spoke a word. He still healed people. He still spent time with outcasts. He still performed all his miracles and still died, was raised, all of that-but he never said a thing. Would it have made a difference? How, then, does that affect the way we view our own ministries? We are called to serve, and I'm all for the idea of "being the hands and feet of Jesus," but is that enough? Or should we also learn to speak his words and share his proclamation in ways that point people to God and his emerging kingdom? - Patrick Barber www.epcofc.org Today’s Worship Announcements & Upcoming Dates Greeting 103 – He Has Made Me Glad 97 – I Sing Praises 577 – We Bow Down 578 – We Will Glorify Prayer Scripture – Psalm 145:1-13a 74 – Praise the Lord 75 – I Sing the Mighty Power of God 76 – How Great Thou Art 77 – Glorify Thy Name Communion Comments Contribution 291 – The Great Physician Song – Lord, Reign in Me Kid’s Time Sermon – “What If...” 791 – On Bended Knee White Cards & Visitor Bread 300 – Praise Him!
