COOPERTOWN SCOOP
WHERE NEIGHBORS HELP NEIGHBORS
IN THIS ISSUE
LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENTS
• Letter from CCA CoPresidents
Happy Spring! This is our favorite time of year in Coopertown. The
trees are in bloom, flowers have come up, neighbors have emerged
and are outside, kids are playing in the backyard; the food from
grills wafts through the yards. After our long winters, even if this
one wasn’t as unpleasant as the previous years, it’s so inviting to see
everyone out and about. The nice weather brings out the best in all
of us. So get the grills fired up, invite neighbors over for a libation or
two, and enjoy this fun season!

Celebration
We want to give an update on what our current board has been
working on to improve the CCA. We have been diligently working
on Bylaws, reinstating our non-profit status and acquiring insurance
for our TBall program and also paying back taxes going back to
2008. We are just about there! While we are working on these
important items, we are still maintaining our traditional events in the
neighborhood, such as TBall, Adult Social, Egg Hunt, Luminary
Night, Block Party, Fourth of July party and of course, The Scoop.
Your CCA is strong and healthy and continues to grow thanks to
your continued effort.
Our next Open Meeting will be on Monday, May 16th at 7:30pm at
168 Morlyn Avenue. Come join us and share ideas and thoughts
and jump onboard a committee!
Wishing everyone all the best, Jen and Sierra

NEW SCOOP EDITOR
COOPERTOWN YOUTH BASEBALL OPENING
I am happy to be the new editor of the
Coopertown Scoop. I, along with my husband
Matt and five year old daughter, Francey, moved
to 211 Morlyn in September 2012 from center
city.
We are becoming more active in the
neighborhood, and we can often be found
playing in the Morlyn Ave circle, grilling dinner
outdoors, and we are getting ready for our
daughter to begin kindergarten at Coopertown
this fall.
We are excited about the 22nd season of
Coopertown Youth Baseball League. Opening
day was on April 11th and the season will run
through June 7th. Thank you to all of the
sponsors including: Andy Lewis, Hoopty's
Pizza, Foote Orthotics, West Hill School, Nolan
Painting, Active Image Media, Saul Ewing LLP,
Gullifty's, Amy Shoumer DMD, Long & Foster
Real Estate, Wilson Legal Solutions and Re/Max.
Thank you also to all of our coaches who are
dedicating their time to the kids. And thanks to
our commissioners Jen Carr, Sierra Murphy, and
Brian Milewski.
I am learning the Scoop ropes, and as I go along,
I welcome your input, comments, and
suggestions. I am easily reached by email at
jwoldincca@gmail.com.
Sincerely, Julie

dogs, as well as play games and crafts with the kids. Jim Daly will DJ and set up karaoke. CSC is
coordinating a service project for Easter Delaware County Life Center, a 50-bed shelter for men and
women in Upper Darby. Our goal is to put together brown bag lunches and toiletry bags. Most of
the items needed for our service project can be purchased at Dollar Tree or another discount store.
Please go to Coopertown Service Corps Facebook Page to sign up to make a donation for the brown
bag lunches or toiletry bags. The center could always use gently used linens or towels, if you have any

NEIGHBOR’S CORNER
New for you!
We have a new section: Neighbors’ Corner – a spot where we welcome our
newcomers, and we highlight the excellent achievements of our kids and neighbors. If someone
in your house has done something awesome and you want to give them a public shout out, let me
know! And, there is a handy new listed section - Volunteer Opportunities – here, you will easily
find the areas where your neighborhood needs you. Our events are as successful as the energy we
have driving them. We would love to have you be part of the team.
