HARBOUR TUG 45 TON BOLLARD PULL
HARBOUR TUG
45 TON BOLLARD PULL
In November 2005 Remontowa S.A. and WUŻ-Shipping and Services Gdynia signed the contract for the construction and delivery of
a 45 ton BP Harbour- Coastal Tug.
The vessel delivered to the Owner in March 2007 was named Centaur II. The tug boat is one of the most active tug boats belonging
to the fleet of the Owner and has received many compliments from the crew and clients because of its parameters and abilities.
The vessel is used to carry out the tug services for cargo ships both within and outside the port. It includes assistance, towing, piloting
and all other tasks assigned for these types of vessels. Design and workshop drawings of the vessel were made by the Naval Engineering
& Design Ltd. belonging to REMONTOWA Group.
The tug boat represents state-of-the-art technology and complies with PRS notation  KM II L3 TUG. The hull of the vessel was reinforced
to meet ice class L3 requirements for tug boats operating in the Baltic Sea, in mean ice conditions.
Main dimensions of Centaur II are as follows: 30.30 m in length, 9.8 m in beam and 3.65 m in depth.
The vessel project is a tailor made one especially prepared to fulfil requirements of the harbour and sea going tug boats.
The vessel is powered by two CAT main engines - each 1425 kW, and two SCHOTTEL propellers both giving a 45 ton bollard pull and
13.3 knots speed. The vessel’s electric network is supplied by two 100 kW generator sets. One of the most attractive characteristics
of this tug boat is that, she achieves the same bollard pull when pulling astern as ahead. This is a result of specially designed hull form.
In addition, the tug boat is equipped with a 50 ton MAMPAEY towing hook responsible for towing operation mainly in harbour and
also at sea. The harbour tug is equipped with two towing bitts and two winches in aft and fore part of the vessel which are used
mostly at sea.
To decrease heating costs at port, a 100 kW oil burned boiler is assembled to heat up the sanitary water. Additional feature of the vessel
is an External Fire Fighting System capable of 250 m³/hr water-foam spray from a monitor assembled on the wheelhouse. Also a water
curtain is assembled on the main deck. All main systems are controlled locally and remotely from wheelhouse. Monitoring of engine
room machinery is installed on control desk in wheelhouse as well as in the machinery room.
