INTRODUCTION POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE PIN IDENTIFICATION
3/27/2014 Printer Friendly View 2002 Isuzu Axiom 3.5L Eng Base ENGINE CONTROLS - PIN VOLTAGE CHARTS INTRODUCTION Pin voltage (value) charts are used for diagnosing intermittent symptoms and faults that are unable to be resolved during self-diagnostics. Pin voltage tests ensure Powertrain Control Module (PCM) is receiving and transmitting proper voltage and other signals. Before performing tests, ensure engine mechanical condition has been thoroughly inspected and self-diagnostics have been attempted. Available Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) may also be helpful in correcting a hard to diagnose problem. POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE PIN IDENTIFICATION & VOLTAGE CHARTS CAUTION: When battery is disconnected, vehicle computer and memory systems may lose memory data. Driveability problems may exist until computer systems have completed a relearn cycle. See COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION before disconnecting battery. NOTE: Unless stated otherwise in testing procedures, preform all voltage tests using a Digital Volt-Ohmmeter (DVOM) with a minimum 10-megohm input impedance. Carefully backprobe PCM harness connector using Wiring Harness Tester Set (J35616-A/BT-8637) to avoid connector damage. Voltage readings may vary slightly due to battery condition or charging rate. NOTE: PCM may also be referred to as ECM. Generator may also be referred to as alternator. TYPICAL SCAN TOOL VALUES > TEST CONDITIONS NOTE: While limited diagnostic information is http://www2.prodemand.com/Print/Index?content=tabs&module=true&tab=true&terms=true&ymms=false&className= 9/17 3/27/2014 Printer Friendly View available, vehicle manufacturer does not support diagnostic information using aftermarket scan tools. To properly diagnose vehicle, it is recommended to use TECH 2 scan tool. Ensure that scan tool is functioning properly. A scan tool that displays faulty data will lead to improper diagnosis, and unnecessary replacement of parts. Use typical scan tool values only after On-Board-II Diagnostic (OBD-II) system check has been performed, ensure no DTCs were stored in memory and it has been determined that on-board diagnostics are functioning properly. Typical scan tool values represent values found on a normally running vehicle, and can aid in diagnosing vehicle with poor engine performance. If after performing OBD-II system check, verify scan tool data. If no problem is found with scan tool data and symptom persists repair by symptom. See TROUBLE SHOOTING - NO CODES article. The following conditions must be met before testing: Engine at normal operating temperature. Engine at idle (closed throttle). Transmission in Park or Neutral. Accessories off. A/C system off. Closed-loop operation.
