CEC Mission & Vision Mission: The Corvallis Environmental Center’s mission is to educate, engage and inspire people to create a healthy, sustainable community Vision: It’s so easy… Just look over today’s auction items and decide which package you want to win—regardless of the value! Do you want an adventure on the Coast? Does a trip to Bend excite you? Pick the one you want to win! Next, buy a raffle ticket for only $50, write the number of the prize of your choice and put your raffle ticket in the pot. Just before the live auction begins we will draw the winning ticket and the winner receives the live auction item they picked— that package will be removed from the live auction. *Chances are limited to 50 tickets. 2 The Corvallis Environmental Center is a key player in the creation of a sustainable community – one in which the environment, the economy and social systems are connected in a way that meets the needs of present generations without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. As a result of these efforts, the concepts of sustainability will be widely understood and practiced by individuals and organizations, and Corvallis will be known for its commitment to an ecologically sound future. Guiding Principles: • We will strive to reach a wide audience by maintaining a nonjudgmental attitude toward potential partners and program participants. • In designing and implementing our programs, we will pay close attention to the economic and social needs of people in the Corvallis area, and will ensure that our programs are accessible to all members of the community. • Whenever possible, we will work with other organizations in Corvallis to foster symbiotic relationships with them in working toward the common goal of education. • While advocacy is an important tool in promoting sustainable practices, it is not the mission of CEC to use this strategy as a means of accomplishing our goals. • Sustainability education not only advances social, scientific and ecological literacy; it provides vision of hope, opportunity, and a sense of place. 3 Evening Schedule CEC Board Members 2014 Yvonne Uribe-Lomnicky – President Rick Flacco – Vice President Mark Tarasawa – Treasurer, Finance Chair 5:00 Cocktail Hour, Live Music, Meet & Greet Program Conversations, Board Meet & Greet Music by the Beaver Country Hot Air Band Cassie Miegs – Secretary 6:00 Laura Young – Development Chair Welcome & Introduction Yvonne Uribe-Lomnicky, CEC Board President Tom Ekstedt – Fiscal Sponsorship Chair Sussanne Maleki, Don Kuhns – Database Sandy Riverman– Tabling Golden Ticket/Pick Your Prize Drawing Jody Einerson – Chamber of Commerce Liaison Live Auction Items #1-7 Bill Rendall, Auctioneer Judith Edelstein – Advisor, Earth Share Liaison 7:00 Program Directors Dinner & Auction Special Appeal Presentation & Paddle Raise Carly Lettero, Jen Brown, Meika Vingelen 7:15 Dessert Dash Live Auction Items #8-13 Bill Rendall, Auctioneer Jen Brown – Edible Corvallis Initiative Carly Lettero – Energize Corvallis 8:00 Closing Remarks Checkout opens 15 minutes after the close of Live Auction Meika Vingelen – Avery House Nature Center 4 5 Dinner Menu General Auction Rules Appetizers Guests and Volunteers must register at the registration desk and secure a bid number.
