Notes from The Producers
We are extremely proud of the Waverly High School students involved
in the production this year. What you see on stage is a result of all their hard
work, dedication and talent the past six weeks. We would like to welcome
back and thank Richard C. Redman, our director for the second year, to
Waverly Theatre. His leadership, dedication and passion for theatre helped
make this show possible. A special thank you goes out to all the families,
businesses and foundations for their monetary and food donations. We
would also like to thank the cast and crew, without them, we would have
an empty stage with no lights on. Waverly High School students are the
reason we keep producing these productions.
The Technological Society was started in 1999 as a way for students
interested in stage technology to learn about theatre. Our students learn
about things such as sound, lighting, set design, set construction, stage
management, stage safety and the use of audio/visual equipment. Some
students even go on the stage as actors in our productions every year. The
Tech Society is very proud to present this production of A Midsummer
Night’s Dream, and we hope you all enjoy it.
We Love you!
Have Fun!
Love, Mom,
Dad, David
and Hannah
-- Ryan Covey & Eldon McGraw
Notes from The Director
William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream
continues to enchant audiences around the world with
its simple beauty and wonderful characters. Once
again we shake our heads and laugh; at the bumbling
of the Mechanicals; the breathy earnestness of the
young lovers; and the malicious vindictive antics of the
fairies.
To attempt Shakespeare in a high school setting is to aim high; but any
exposure to great literature is worth the effort. And indeed the effort has
been enormous. For a group of young people who have no access to a
theatre class, they have done very well.
So come with us to the city of Athens and enjoy yourselves. Be careful
and don’t get lost in the wood, laugh and applaud when you will, and enjoy
our story as we journey from chaos to cosmos.
-- Richard C. Redman
