INFORMED — CHASSIS CHARGES.
With all of the changes to steamship lines and chassis provision, there
is understandably a lot of confusion. Many steamship lines no longer
provide chassis to customers, and as a result, Jetco is supplying chassis
from our fleet or from chassis pools. The cost of this service continues
to increase, and we will be adjusting our chassis-usage fee to $20
per day, effective January 1, 2012. This fee covers standard 20' and 40'
chassis. Specialty units such as tri-axel chassis are quoted separately.
To keep you up-to-date, we’ve answered some of
the most frequently asked questions:
1. In the Houston area, which steamship lines
do not provide chassis?
• CSA

In most cases, you can expect a chassis charge for containers
provided by these steamship lines.
2. Is there any free time included for the chassis?
No. Chassis charges apply from the day we out-gate the container
until the day we return it. This includes weekends and holidays.
3. Do Jetco quotes include the chassis fee?
No, unless clearly stated to the contrary.
We cannot include the chassis cost in our rate
because we do not know how long you will have the
chassis before returning the unit. The chassis cost is
based on the number of days that you have the unit
under your control.
4. Where can I find Jetco’s terms and
conditions relating to chassis charges,
cargo liability, free time and other
important items?
Jetco’s terms and conditions can be found on our
quotes and delivery tickets.
Terms and conditions are also published
on our website.
We are happy to meet with you to help navigate these changes, as well as to help you proactively keep chassis
cost as low as reasonably possible.

As the logistics coordinator of the brokerage division at Jetco,
Julie’s day consists of a little bit of everything. She is responsible
for booking loads and creating rates for LTL, entering all new
carriers into a database and providing excellent customer service.
Employed at Jetco for 1½ years, Julie loves helping customers and
her day-to-day interaction with them.
