Town Page CWC/COUNCIL HIGHLIGHTS SPRING MAINTENANCE UPDATE From April 19, 2016 Sidewalk and Street Sweeping - Street sweeping began April 18 and will be complete by the end of May. Sidewalk sweeping is also ongoing and is expected to be complete by early May. Yard Waste - Yard waste collection began in early April and now occurs every two weeks until mid November. Visit www.eastgwillimbury.ca/yardwaste for collection information. Pot Hole Repair - Staff are working to repair pot holes caused by winter weather. If you encounter a pot hole call 905-478-4282 to report the location. Sod Repair - Staff are working to repair sod along sidewalks. To report sod damage due to a sidewalk plow call 905-478-4282. Zoning By-law Amendment Approved - Committee reviewed an application to permit a gas station on the northwest corner of Doane Rd and Woodbine Ave. The property can only be used in this capacity once it is connected to municipal water and sanitary services, and receives site plan approval. New Catholic Elementary School Site Plan Application The York Catholic District School Board submitted a site plan application for the construction of a new school on Murrell Blvd. The school will be the new location of Our Lady of Good Counsel School in Sharon. It is anticipated to open in September 2017. Public Meeting - A statutory public meeting was held to review proposed revisions to the Town’s general Building By-law under section 7 of the Building Code Act. Proposed revisions include: • New definitions • Revised process to calculate storm and sanitary sewers fees • Minor revisions to current building permit fees to round off fees to the nearest tenth of a dollar Upcoming Meetings Committee of the Whole Council - May 3 at 10 a.m. Special Council - May 3 following CWC Council - May 3 at 3 p.m. Council Workshop - May 10 at 10 a.m. Sunday, May 1, 2016 Stronach Aurora Recreation Complex The public is welcome to attend. CONTROLLED BURN NOTICE ROAD CLOSURE Princess Street in Mount Albert will be closed on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. to facilitate repairs by Canadian National Railway at the rail crossing. Property Taxes Due SED CLO Please be advised that the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry is planning a controlled burn near the intersection of Yonge and Queensville Sideroad (on the tract of land Holland Landing Prairie). The burn will occur on Monday, April 25 or Tuesday, April 26, weather permitting. PUBLIC INFORMATION CENTRE Sharon - Leslie Street Corridor Improvements May 5 - Drop in from 6 to 8 p.m. (Presentation at 7 p.m.) Canada Hall, EG Sports Complex Residents are invited to view display materials and ask questions regarding the potential streetscaping and sanitary servicing on Leslie Street. Representatives from the Town will be available to answer questions. Presentation materials and comment sheets will be available following the meeting at www.eastgwillimbury.ca/sharon-leslie-corridor. Town Wide Clean Up Payments can be made at the Civic Centre, at your bank, online/phone banking OR: Pre-Authorized Payment Plans: • 10 month installments (Feb to Nov) • due date installments If your tax account is not current a pre-set monthly payment can be arranged to help you of default. Failure to recieve a tax bill does not exempt the bill from being due or from incurring interest. Contact the Town at 905-478-4282 if you have any questions. WILD ANIMALS REPORTED IN EG The Town has received reports of wild animals, such as coyotes, within residential areas. Wild animals may find their way into town and tear open garbage, cause concern for residents and come into conflict with pets. Should you observe nuisance wild life please contact the Ministry of Natural Resources at 905-713-7400.
