COPPS 65th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION EVENTS Welcome Reception Date: Thursday, August 25, 2016 Time: 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm Location: FAMU Meek-Eaton Black Archives (445 Gamble St., Tallahassee, FL 32307) The Welcome Reception kicks off the COPPS 65th Anniversary Celebration “Destination Weekend” events with hors d’ourves and cocktails in the FAMU Meek-Eaton Black Archives. This event offers participants the opportunity to network with alumni, current students, corporate sponsorship representatives, as well as reconnect with COPPS administration, faculty and staff to pursue new professional relationships. Provost and Vice President Marcella David, Florida A&M University, Division of Academic Affairs will be the featured artist for this event. Brick Ceremony Date: Friday, August 26, 2016 Time: 10:00 am – 10:30 am Location: FAMU College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences – New Pharmacy Bldg. (1415 S. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., Tallahassee, FL 32307) Leave your legacy through the purchase of an emerald brick. Donors will receive an engraved emerald brick to be set in the Wall of Transformation. The Wall of Transformation will be located just inside the doors of the New Pharmacy Building, which is where the ceremony will be held. Each brick will include a Certificate of Authenticity signed by the College’s Dean. Bricks can be engraved with names, short sayings, graduation dates, memorial commemorations, and Greek letters…be imaginative! New Pharmacy Building (Phase II) – Research Wing Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and Guided Tours Date: Friday, August 26, 2016 Time: 10:30 am – 11:30 am Location: FAMU College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences – New Pharmacy Bldg. (1415 S. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., Tallahassee, FL 32307) This event will celebrate the opening of the New Pharmacy Building (Phase II) – Research Wing, and offer guided tours to showcase the building. This state-of-the-art building is a 5-story, 74,648 GSF facility that includes: 18 offices, 7 teaching laboratories/classrooms, 16 research laboratories and a vivarium. This new edition will assists the College in it’s effort to recruit and retain world-class faculty, expand opportunities for faculty and students to conduct cuttingedge research, and to educate more students who are interested in pursuing a graduate degree in pharmaceutical sciences. The tour will begin immediately following the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. Golf Tournament Date: Saturday, August 27, 2016 Time: 8:00 am – 12:00 pm Location: Seminole Golf Course (2550 Pottsdamer Street, Tallahassee, FL 32310) Whether you are a seasoned golfer or just starting out…come swing into action “fore” student scholarships! The FAMU COPPS 65th Anniversary Golf Tournament will take place on the 18–hole championship course of the Seminole Golf Course. There will be 8:30 am shotgun start and the format will be a four-person scramble. Awards for 1st, 2nd, 3rd place Hole-In-One and Longest Drive will be awarded. Walk-Run-Ride Date: Saturday, August 27, 2016 Time: 9:00 – 11:00 am Location: Tallahassee–St. Marks Historic Railroad State Trail (1358 Old Woodville Rd., Crawfordville, FL 32327) Participate in a unique Walk-Run-Ride Event while feeling good about raising awareness and funds to support chronic kidney disease and alzheimers research. All events will start and finish at the Tallahassee–St. Marks Historic Railroad State Trail that runs 20.5 miles from Florida’s capital city to the coastal community of St. Marks. This trail was the first rail-trail in the Florida’s system of greenways and trails to be paved, providing a scenic experience for running, walking, bicycling and skating. Monetary contributions raised will be donated to the Davita For Chronic Kidney Disease and Alzheimers Projects. Join us as we bring together our citizens and guests to honor our history and pay tribute to our future. This event will feature a red carpet entrance, a cocktail reception, a picture taking session with celebrity Master of Ceremony Christopher Martin, a multicourse meal, and Bakari Sellers as the keynote speaker. Top off the evening by dancing the night away with live music. This event is a black-tie affair.
