Application Equipment english version Company Costumer-specific solutions make us a strong development partner to our costumers. DSG-Canusa Since 2001 DSG-Canusa has been part of the Canadian ShawCor Ltd., a globally active energy services provider with over 5,000 employees in over 20 countries. Since then DSG-Canusa has recorded continuous growth. The steady increase in profits results not least from a comprehensive network of international clients who continually demand more new products from DSG-Canusa. DSG-Canusa today serves clients from the military, space and aviation industries as well as from the automotive, communications and electrical industries. Our expanding product portfolio includes thin-, medium-and thick-walled heat-shrink tubing made of polyolefins, fluoropolymers, elastomers and PVC, with or without adhesive coating. We also produce sealing systems, e.g. for longitudinal watertight sealing of cable harnesses, and marking systems, e.g. for cabinets and braided cable sleeves for encasing and protecting wires, cables, pipes, hoses and foam to prevent mechanical damage. Our energyprovider program consists of partition casings, end caps, creepage-current– proof hoses, low- and medium-voltage connection sleeves, terminals and repair sleeves. A wide range of proprietary processing and shrink equipment, as well as equipment tooled precisely to the requirements of the customer, round off our portfolio. DSG-Canusa is a world leader in the development and manufacture of highquality, technologically advanced heatshrink products. The secret formulae of our materials and the crosslinking technologies make it possible to offer you unique products with exceptional properties that provide cost-effective, proven solutions across a wide range of automotive applications. Any further processing occurs automatically. The DERAY® SHUTTLE shrink appliance is set up in the case of the bench option as an individual workstation. The shrink unit and the control unit are located in a single structural unit. Mode of operation The SHUTTLE shrink appliance is equipped with two object holders for the manual placement of cables pre-fitted with heat shrink tubing. Two pneumatically operated clamps lock and centre the object holder in the correct position. The heat required for the shrink process is generated by infrared ceramic heating elements. They are mounted on a heating/cooling slide that moves in a linear direction along the heat shrink tubes. To ensure that the heat is spread evenly, one of the heating elements is located above and the other below the heat shrink tubes. 20 © ShawCor Ltd.All specifications are subject to modification. Contact DSG-Canusa for the latest specification. Equipment DERAY® Shuttle SB816 – RKS Mode of operation The duration of the exposure to heat can be controlled via the travel speed adjustment of the heating element concerned. The shrink temperature can be separately adjusted for the upper and lower infrared ceramic heating elements. Once the shrink process has been completed, the cables are cooled. To this end, one cooling unit is fitted to the right of the infrared ceramic heating element and one to the left, each equipped with two ventilators. The duration of the cooling process can be adjusted. At the end of the shrink process, the appliance makes a brief buzzing noise (can be deactivated), the clamping elements are disengaged and the operator can pull the object holder out of the shrink appliance. Control unit The SPC control unit as well as the electric and pneumatic regulators control and monitor the work processes and permit the creation and storage of up to 24 production programs. The parameters that can be preselected include the speed, the duration of the exposure to heat, the heating temperature with separate settings for the upper and lower heating elements and the duration of the cooling process once the shrink process has been completed. 21 DERAY® Shuttle SB816 – Shrink Appliance Technical data Shrink unit Width approx. 1,440 mm Height approx. 560 mm Depth approx. 1,020 mm Weight approx. 90 kg Connection data Electrical connection Electrical power consumption 1 / N / PE AC 230 V / 50–60 Hz max. 1.8 kW Fuse protection (operator’s premises) 16 A Protection class IP 45 Pneumatic connection Operating temperature of infrared ceramic heating elements 4–10 bars 500°C–650°C Temperature alarm levels Ambient temperature Heating/Cooling slide speed Sound pressure level 10°C–45°C 20–99 cm/min. 60 dB(A) Versions Many different versions are available on request. It is primarily used to shrink DERAY® Splicemelt caps onto end splices. The appliance has been designed specifically to process small wire harnesses and similar components on stationary and mobile forming boards in transfer lines. The appliance consists of a shrink unit and a control unit. A suspension device (balancer) allows easy attachment to the docking station and unlimited freedom of movement. Mode of operation Hanging in a balancer, the appliance must be attached to the docking station on the forming board. Then the end splices to be sealed, with a DERAY® Splicemelt cap pushed in place, are to be inserted into the heating applicator from the right or left and fixed there. The appliance is equipped with three start keys, each of which can be assigned a particular shrink time. The shrink process is started by pressing one of the three start keys and proceeds automatically through the supply of hot air. Both the preset shrink temperature and shrink time are controlled automatically. Advantages • Easy to use • Low-cost processing • Automatic control of shrink temperature and process time • High flexibility as the appliance can be docked to any position on the forming board • Weight-neutral suspension device 52 © ShawCor Ltd.All specifications are subject to modification. Equipment DERAY® Proof Device for leak testing with compressed air 55 DERAY® Proof – Splice control case Information DERAY® Proof is a manually operated pneumatic device that uses compressed air for leak testing of various splice types. Mode of operation The splice ends are clamped into flap-type fixing devices which are also used to supply the testpressure. The area of the object sealed with heat shrink tubing is immersed in a water bath and held in place. Switch feeds compressed air into the cable to the connection point. The test result is checked visually by way of a search for air bubbles in the sealed area of the object concerned. Advantages • Easy to use • Low-cost testing of sealed area • No waiting periods; device ready for use immediately • As the device comes with an aluminium case, it can be conveniently transported and stored. • No power supply needed as the device runs solely on compressed air • Testpressure is adjustable via an integrated pressure reducer and manometer. 56 © ShawCor Ltd.All specifications are subject to modification.
