DESTINY RESCUE SCHOOL INITIATIVE A RESOURCE FOR EDUCATORS Destiny Rescue is a non-profit Christian organisation that rescues children from human trafficking and sexual exploitation. This pack is designed to help your school partner with us to end this injustice. We want to IMPACT YOUR SCHOOL Educate We want to educate students about the reality of child trafficking and sexual exploitation, explore the diverse cultures throughout Asia, and introduce what Destiny Rescue does as a worldwide organisation. Encourage We want to encourage students to pursue their world-changing dreams (or help create them!). This generation of students is more important than ever to help bring global change. Empower We want to empower students to take action against the evil of child trafficking. This could be through our Make a Stand fundraising program, a Schoolies Team Trip, or any other avenue your school wishes to pursue! ABOUT US There are an estimated 27 million slaves in the world today. Destiny Rescue is committed to liberating those enslaved and restoring those who have been abused. Already serving five nations, Destiny Rescue will keep expanding to reach even more children. Destiny Rescue is an internationally recognised, Christian based, non-profit organistion dedicated to rescuing children from human trafficking and sexual exploitation. We help rescue the sexually exploited and enslaved, restore the abused, protect the vulnerable, empower the poor and are a voice for those that cannot speak up for themselves. We currently operate our various programs in five nations: Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Philippines, and India. We also have offices in three donor nations: Australia, New Zealand and the United States. Dominican Republic | India | Thailand | Laos | Cambodia | Philippines Tony Kirwan Founder and Int'l President of Destiny Rescue WHAT WE DO Rescue the Sexually Exploited and Enslaved Destiny Rescue rescues children from red-light districts, brothels and sexually abusive situations. Restore the Abused We provide them with medical attention, counselling, education, life skills, vocational training, Bible studies and spiritual guidance, and also meet all their daily needs like food and accommodation. Protect the Vulnerable Destiny Rescue offers programs that help at-risk children and families reduce their children's chances of being sold, lured or trafficked into the sex trade. Empower the Poor As part of our Aftercare Program we want to empower children with skills and training that will increase their chances of finding sustainable employment. Children can enter our jewellery-making program, hair and beauty school, sewing, hospitality training or screen printing. These prevocational training programs are a lead-in to internships at respectable companies and long-term sustainable employment. Children can also choose to finish high school, or study whatever their hearts desire at university. Be A Voice for the Voiceless Destiny Rescue is committed to being a voice for the sexually exploited, vulnerable and poor who, in most cases, can't speak up for themselves. We believe everyone has a right to be heard, especially those crying out for justice. Many times they are overlooked or tossed aside by society, but we are determined to be their voice - motivating and inspiring influencers to get involved and make a difference in the lives of the voiceless. JOIN US Educate A Destiny Rescue representative can come to your school and share with students about the reality of child trafficking. Our representatives understand the need to adapt presentations depending on the audience, so be assured their discussions will be age-appropriate and faith-sensitive. Encourage We want to encourage students to be world-changers and to make their lives count. We want to remind them that nothing is impossible for God. Our representatives offer a Q&A at the end of their sessions, so are prepared for any and every question! We speak at schools all over Australia and we like to honour schools' involvement with us! "Destiny Rescue's very informational presentation deepended my year 11 students' understanding of the social justice issue of children in the sex slave industry. The speaker's approach was clear, factual and engaging." - Gaye Ruthenberg, teacher at Grace Lutheran College QLD "Make A Stand gave myself and my youth group a rad opportunity to be a part of the change and spread the word of what Destiny Rescue is doing." - Alex Tan, Youth Leader Wycliffe Christian School NSW raised $8,500 in 2 weeks in 2015! Genesis Christian College QLD raised $7,700 in 2014, and have continued their amazing support over the years. Westside Christian College QLD raised $7,410 in 2015! Empower We want to empower students to take action against the evil of child trafficking and sexual exploitation. We can promote our Make a Stand campaign, out-of-school youth program, Schoolies Team Trips, or simply tips on how students can to raise awareness and how your school can partner with us in its own unique way. "The support of Australian schools to Destiny Rescue is amazing. These young children are our future and by sharing with them about who we are and what we do will encourage and empower them to work alongside us to help end child slavery. I am looking forward to seeing what the future has in store for both these young children and Destiny Rescue and the difference we can make together. I would like to thank and honour the schools that are currently already on board with us, and am looking forward to working with more schools in the near future to help rescue these children from slavery." - Michelle Winser, Destiny Rescue CEO Australia. Involvement OPPORTUNITIES Make A Stand! Make A Stand is a unique, adaptable program that allows your school to partner with us in ending child slavery. It's fun, easy, educational, and rewarding! You can hold a fun run, a sports day, an activities day, or challenge students to stand up for as long as possible throughout the day and raise money for Destiny Rescue! You can tailor Make A Stand any way you like! Make A Stand involves using fundraising pages (like Everyday Hero) for students and teachers. These pages can be customised and personalised, and will display how much individual's and the school as a whole have raised! This is an easy way to raise awareness and a safe alternative to collecting cash. Other School-Based Fundraising We understand that every school is unique in its own way, and we will always honour a school deciding to plan their own fundraising events to partner with Destiny Rescue outside of our Make A Stand program - we will be happy to help in any way we can. Schoolies & Mission Trips While at your school we can introduce and hand out flyers for our Schoolies Mission Trip. This is an incredible overseas adventure to Thailand for recent school leavers. It's designed to provide a fun and life changing alternative to the alcohol and drug environment involved with most schoolies activities. While in Thailand, they will experience breathtaking scenery, thrilling activities and have a ton of fun with others. They will also meet and interact with our Rescue & Prevention Children and some of their families, and be involved in life changing service projects and events. This trip will help them see firsthand how people live in other parts of the world. Schools can also do mission trips with us throughout the year as part of curriculum. "Thank you for taking the time to read about our schools initiative. I hope it has opened your eyes to the reality of child trafficking and just a little of what we are doing to combat it. I'd love for your school to partner with us; I know that together we will see child sexual exploitation come to an end in our lifetime." - Tony Kirwan, Founder & International President Please hand this pack to the appropriate staff member at your school who will be involved in the decision-making process to partner with Destiny Rescue.
