APEC a Future Technology Oriented Venture of Eram..
Arabian Power Electronics
Company,
APEC is a new venture of Eram in Power
Electronics field with
Aplab Limited, a leading power electronics
company from India.
The newly established
plant in Al Khobar will
focus solely on the
power
conversion
technology and photovoltaic solar systems.
Power electronics are
the main components
used in converting electrical power from one form
to another. At a world-wide average rate of 12
billion kilowatts every hour of every day of every
year, more than 50% of the power generated is
being reprocessed or recycled through some form
of power electronic systems. By 2015, it is expected this will increase up to 80%. Unfortunately, a lot
of energy is wasted during this power conversion
process due to low power conversion efficiency. It
is worth noting that, it is estimated that the power
wasted in desktop PCs sold in one year is equivalent to seventeen 500MW power plants! It is therefore very important to improve the efficiency of
these power conversion systems. Some studies estimated that with the widespread use of efficient
and cost-effective power electronics technology,
the world could see a 35% reduction in energy
consumption. As a result, APEC will focus on the
latest energy efficient power conversion technologies to help reduce the power consumption.
Traditionally in GCC countries due to the highly
subsidized electric power generated from fossil fuels, energy conservation programs have not been
seriously considered. But in recent years, the focus
towards use of energy efficient solutions and alternate energy sources is receiving more attention.
In the area of electric power systems, one should
look at the “big picture” of how power electronics
system and renewable energy resources will improve and transform our electric power systems.
Adopting computer control and system analysis
techniques, the large power system operation and
planning problems in the electrical grid shall be
studied when advanced power electronics, energy storage and renewable energy sources are
incorporated into the grid. Today, the centralized
distribution network is widely used. But tomorrow,
the world is moving towards distributed networks,
which require more advanced power electronics
systems with maximum reliability and efficiency.
(Ref. the below picture)This will definitely create a
major demand for the power electronics technologies and products.
APEC manufactures Industrial-grade UPS systems,
Battery Chargers, AC-DC power supplies, Inverters,
Frequency converters and Solar Power systems
that meet the highest international quality and
performance standards.
APEC being the first of its kind Power Electronics
Company in Middle East to have a manufacturing
and R&D setup, its vision is to be Pioneers of Power
Electronics in Middle East. Moreover, APEC brings
the technology in order to have a trained and
skilled local manpower in Power Electronics, which
will definitely help to meet the future demand. In
order to meet this, APEC has the setup for in-house
training to Power Electronics Engineers and technicians for troubleshooting of power electronics
products. Also, there will be setup for high end development for R&D projects.
It must also be emphasized that APEC will introduce the High Frequency Inverter with Photovoltaic cells to obtain the most efficient and economical solar power systems for the home applications.
The targeted market for these products will be the
underdeveloped countries in the Middle East and
Africa, who are facing the acute electrical power
shortage.
We want to help you to ‘change’ the world with
technology. A first foot step for a thousand mile
journey….!!

Indian firm Eram Scientific
Solutions (Eram Group) wins
Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation
grant for ‘e-toilets’

The Eram Group cheque is handed over to Mayor Judy Paul, Davie Township of Florida
Gandhi Square Trust , Florida
The
Gandhi statue, under the auspices of the Kerala Samajam of South
Florida, a leading Indian community organization, would be displayed at the Gandhi Square in half acre of land at the Falcon’s Lea Park,
Davie, Florida. Ground breaking ceremony of the same held here with the
presence of Civic authorities and Eram Group has handed over the cheque
of $25,000 to Mayor Judy Paul, Davie Township of Florida
ASHINGTON: An Indian tech-firm has won a whopping grant
of over $450,000 from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to set up eco-friendly and hygienic “ eToilets”, making public conveniences more accessible to the urban poor.
Thiruvananthapuram-based Eram Scientific Solutions Private
Limited was awarded the grant as part of the foundation’s second round of ‘Reinvent the Toilet Challenge’ grants totalling
nearly $ 3.4 million.
Foundation Co-chair Bill Gates announced the grants along with
the winners of the first round of Reinvent the Toilet Challenge-an
effort to develop “next-generation” toilets that will deliver safe
and sustainable sanitation to the 2.5 billion people worldwide
who don’t have it.
The other firms to receive the grant are Cranfield University (United Kingdom); Research Triangle Institute (United States); and the
University of Colorado Boulder (United States).
The awards recognise researchers from leading universities who
are developing innovative ways to manage human waste,
which will help improve the health and lives of people around
the world.
The Reinvent the Toilet Fair is bringing together participants from
29 countries, including researchers, designers, investors, advocates, and representatives of the communities who will ultimately adopt these new inventions.
“Innovative solutions change people’s lives for the better,” foundation Co-chair Bill Gates said in a statement.
“If we apply creative thinking to everyday challenges, such
as dealing with human waste, we can fix some of the world’s
toughest problems,” he said.
Unsafe methods to capture and treat human waste result in serious health problems and death, the statement said.
Food and water tainted with fecal matter result in 1.5 million
child deaths every year, it said.
Most of these deaths could be prevented with the introduction
of proper sanitation, along with safe drinking water and improved hygiene, it added.
Improving access to sanitation can also bring substantial economic benefits.
According to the World Health Organisation, improved sanitation delivers up to $ 9 in social and economic benefits for every
$ 1 invested because it increases productivity, reduces healthcare costs, and prevents illness, disability, and early death.

Eram Scientific Solutions “En route to Success Stories”
W

believe that
dreams
are good. We
believe that this
world now is the
result of dreams
dreamt by our ancestors. We too
have a dream of
a better tomorrow which we
share with our children, the future
of this world. Understanding that
only when dreams
have been turned to reality can true milestones be achieved, we have dedicated
ourselves to achieving this very objective.
We have therefore pooled all our knowledge sourced from very diverse backgrounds and given birth to an idea that
is already tangible and growing so that
tomorrow will be just like we dream it to
be today. A world where all is safe, the air
is clean and we live in perfect harmony
with nature.
Amazing technology is developing in small
pockets of the world, national movements
with unsurpassable fire seem to crop up
sporadically but the impact is never global. The need of the hour is for a transformation in outlook, to develop ideas into
globally scalable realities.
Eram Scientific Solutions has identified
certain core areas that require immediate
intervention. These cover a wide range of
areas that are currently neglected or are
not catered to adequately. These include
a connected sanitation infrastructure
combined with other public amenities to
enable waste management, river protection, transportation and traffic management and the like.
To move forward with this vision and as
the first step, Eram Scientific has developed India’s First Electronic Public Toilet
“eToilet” that takes care of entry to sewage management through convergence
of several technological streams. The solution has received immense public support, government back up and international acclaim. The most recent and the
best of the lot is the Bill & Melinda Gates
Foundations’ “ReInvent The Toilet Challenge” Grant of a whopping sum of over
$ 450,000. Eram Scientific Solutions will be
associating with Bill &Melinda Gates Foundation for utilizing the grant for conducting Research on maintaining toilet cleanliness, non-depletion of water resources
and energy conserving solutions. The R&D
involving the project will span across a period of 15 months. Phase I of the Project
will be on track by September this year.
The solution has also received numerous
other crowing glories such as the TiE50
2012 Top Start Up Award, USA, Sankalp-Artha Grand Prize Winner of INR 20 Lakhs for
the most promising enterprise of the Year
2012, Sankalp Awards 2012- Water and

eToilet is now evolving as a sustainable
project for providing clean and hygienic
urban infrastructure. Various Government
departments in Kerala have been implementing large scale projects for providing
sustainable technology based urban sanitation projects.
a. The Women’s’ Development Corporation of Government of Kerala is setting up
over 200 eToilets christened as She Toilet
for women.
b. Public Works Department is setting up
Eve’s own eToilet across the stretch of its
highways in Kerala.
c. Kerala Tourism department plans to set
up eToilet network along its premium tourist destinations.
d. We are also setting up Highway amenity centers for tourists in over 30 destinations in Kerala.
e. Pathanamthitta District in Kerala is India’s first district with a connected e-toilet Infrastructure (CeTI). CeTI, the first
of its kind in the State as well as in the
Country has been introduced at 26 various locations in Pathanamthitta District,
as part of first phase of the project. The
project will also be rolled out in a phase
wise manner across the State soon. This
latest technological innovation, which is
a convergence of web-mobile-electronics technologies, is said to bring about a
revolutionary change in the public health
and hygiene sector of Kerala. This feature
makes possible mapping and connecting all the toilet units via web and mobile,
thereby making travel smoother and easier for the public and tourists alike.
Newer and advanced models of eToilet
and several other projects that are sure to
make a radical impact on the Country’s
infrastructure and public amenities sector
are in the making. Eram Scientific is all set
to go global with its line of products that
will redefine the public amenities sector
and make life a lot easier for the common
man. Eram Scientific envisions a Better,
Safer and Natural World around us, with
fresh air, clear rivers, clean roads, and
world-class infrastructures and above all,
a positive spirit towards working together
to make it happen. We are working towards making people aware of the importance of proper waste management and
hygiene by providing them with a solution
that is nothing less than the fulfillment of
basic human rights - The right to adequate sanitation and other infrastructure
and hence the right to human dignity.

Top 7 Secrets To Boost Your Brain Memory
The
brain is the most amazing and complex organ in this universe
and its research continues to throw up new facts that surprise
us. The brain is capable of being modified or improved even as we age.
It is never used to its full capacity. The brain itself is incapable of feeling
pain. Once the skull is opened it is possible to operate on the brain with
the patient awake.
How can you improve your brain power? You sense that you need more
intelligence or ‘smarts’ to keep up and get ahead in this world. So, what
can you do to boost your brain power so you can think better and more
creatively?
Here are some timely tips to help you Boost Your Brain Memory and kickstart the genius within…
1. Playing games and solving puzzles:
Any activity that requires us to use the brain to find solutions to problems
have been proven to be a great way of sparking creativity. This does not
only mean classic games such as chess and sudoku puzzles but also video
games that include puzzle solving.
need to challenge it with variety. I am not saying you have to go and try
grilled cockroaches right away, but I do encourage you to try that other
dish on the menu that you never tried out.
5. Practice image streaming:
Another super technique courtesy of mind maestro Win Wenger. Image
streaming is a process of describing aloud what’s going on in your stream
of consciousness. It is incredibly powerful. I repeat. Image streaming is an
incredibly powerful process to improve your brain power in dramatic, life
changing ways.
6. Supplement your diet with Omega-3 oils:
Your brain laps this stuff up! Get good quality fish-oil capsules.
7. Learn to mind-map:
Mind-mapping is a great technique invented by Tony Buzan. It helps you
think and remember better. You will find it an incredibly valuable and
easy skill to learn.
2. Develop your concentration abilities:
Learn a meditation technique and build your ability to remain focused
like a laser. Smart people can concentrate for longer periods of time than
dummies!
3. Think positively:
This sounds like a right old chestnut, doesn’t it? But thinking positively
enables you to access your higher thinking abilities. When you are positive and feeling good your mind functions smoothly. Ask yourself emotion-leading questions like, “What am I grateful for right now?” and “Who
do I love and who loves me?”
4. Go for variety:
Why do you always order the same dish when you go out to a restaurant?
People like routine. We feel comfortable doing things we know how to do,
and tend to avoid new things or things we dont know. This creates stagnation in our brain however and to overcome this laziness of the mind we
