FREE Checking - General Electric Credit Union
ATM Access
Members receive free GECU ATM transactions and can
make surcharge-free withdrawals at 5/3 Bank and Alliance
One Network ATMs. To locate surcharge-free ATMs, visit:
www.gecreditunion.org/debit-and-atm-cards and click “Locate
surcharge-free ATMs.” You can also download the Alliance
One mobile app through your app store; search “Alliance
One” to locate your nearest Alliance One ATM.
ATM Fee vs. Surcharge Fee3
An ATM fee is a small fee assessed by GECU to help offset
our expenses when members use a non-GECU owned ATM.
An ATM surcharge fee is charged by the ATM owner to
those who use their machines; members may be surcharged
at non-GECU owned ATMs and are informed about the
surcharge when making their ATM transaction. The ATM
surcharge is controlled, and collected, by the ATM owner.
Overdraft Protection
Overdraft Protection is a line of credit, tied to your checking
account, in case you overdraw your account. Rather than
a transaction being returned for insufficient funds, your line
of credit would be accessed, for a small transfer fee, for the
amount of the transaction. You can avoid the small transfer
fee by self-transferring the funds within free Online or Mobile
Banking. You can pay off the overdraft amount right away
or we’ll take monthly payments (plus interest) automatically
from your checking account. For more details, our complete
disclosure, or to apply, visit our website or contact us.
Set-Up Direct Deposit From Your Employer
You’ll need GECU’s routing number (242076821) and your
12-digit member number.* For assistance, please contact us.
*Your 12-digit account number is the Share ID + your member number with
added zeros in between to equal 12-digits. (The Share ID for GECU checking/
share draft = 100, the Share ID for GECU share/savings = 000). For example,
to determine your 12-digit checking account number: if your member number is
43210, your 12-digit account number would be your Share ID + your member
number to get “100000043210.” Please remember to add zeros after the Share
ID and before your member number to make it 12-digits.
