Devoted to our homeless animals
JUNE 2016
A Non-profit Organization Founded in 1983
Dear Friend,
On a very sad note it is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of
our beloved founder, Kay Duffy. An extraordinary woman, she dedicated the
majority of her life to helping and saving homeless animals. Since starting
Pet Adoption Fund 33 years ago she selflessly helped to re-home thousands
of dogs and cats. Never receiving a penny of compensation, she reminded
everyone that the work “was all for the animals.” She has taken the journey
over the Rainbow Bridge to be with her past furry friends and she will be
greatly missed by all of us at PAF. We pledge to continue her legacy, stay
the course and keep her vision alive. Rest in peace dear Kay.
In honoring the work that Kay devoted most of her adult life to and knowing
full well what she wanted us to do to continue Pet Adoption Fund’s mission,
we will now tell you about some of the dogs and cats whom we have saved
with your support:
Kay Duffy
Tori gets a real home and family: Rescued from a “hoarding” situation on a private property
in the deserts of Mojave, CA, Tori and her newborn litter only had a carved hole in the ground
as sanctuary. All of the animals on the property were found neglected, starved and visibly
abused. Now, several years later, after a long time of rehabilitation under our care, Mama Tori
is living the good life in the care of her new adoptive family. She is learning how to be a
normal dog and enjoying new world experiences that she never knew existed. She is finally
living the life that every dog deserves.
Linus finds happiness: Linus was living a good life for 10 years. But his guardian lost her
home and job and could no longer care for him. We took him in knowing that it would be a
challenge to place a senior cat. Linus quickly settled in and became the “greeter” of one of
the “free roam” cat rooms. He was quite a talker and one day a special couple listened to
what he had to say. They fell in love and he became a part of their family. Way to go Linus!

Blue Bob
Blue Bob never gave up hope: It’s not easy being a pit bull up for adoption these days.
Many people do not want to adopt them because they hear only the bad stories associated
with the breed. But here is a GOOD story. One of our volunteers took him under her wing
and after an extended stay with us, Blue Bob’s dream of being adopted came true. His new
guardian writes “Now that I have Blue Bob I cannot imagine my life without him.” We are all
elated for Blue Bob!
Hazel is fearful no more: Hazel came to us pregnant and very fearful of people. Her litter
was born and all of her kittens were placed in loving homes. We knew it would take some
work to gain Hazel’s trust and our volunteers spent many hours with her, building a
relationship little by little. In just under a year Hazel found her confidence and a loving home
to go with it. What a transformation she made!
Friends, be assured that your tax-deductible donations are going exactly where they should –
to help care for, rehabilitate and find new homes for all of the animals at our no-kill shelter.
None of our officers, directors or volunteers are paid for their work. They do it out of love for
the animals. We appreciate all of your support and we ask that you please join our cause.
Have a Wonderful Summer,
Maggie Turner
