With the development of the bolt action rifle 98 towards the end of the 19th
century, the Mauser brothers set a milestone in gun making history. Up until
today the 98 action has formed the basis for the hugely successful models M 98
and M 98 Magnum. The M 98 action today is manufactured according to the
original drawings but with the most modern of manufacturing methods.

THE E VOLUTION
By launching the M 66 in 1966, Mauser introduces a
new bolt action rifle which is thoroughly tailored to
the demands of hunting. The revolutionary telescopic
construction makes it approx. 6 cm shorter than the
M 98 action while accepting the same ammunition.
Just like the M 98, the M 66 system lays the foundation for extremely rugged bolt action technology.

All M 03 models are available with true
left-hand action, reversed manual cocking
system and left-hand stock. The left-hand bolt
heads have an “L” alongside the markings for
the caliber group. Upon special request the
M 03 is also available with right-hand action in
left-hand stock.

Interchangeable Barrels
By changing the barrel, calibers and barrel
lengths can be varied. Fluted barrels are
optionally available. In order to change
barrels, simply loosen the captured barrel
bushings on the fore-end.

Stock Selection
No matter if you choose the classic version or
the traditionally designed Alpine or Stutzen,
every Mauser stock is available in ten wood
grades starting with colored walnut heartwood
and going up to unique figured curlwood. In
addition, you can also choose the synthetic

M 03 S YSTEM
Bolt Lock:
In the un-cocked status the bolt is locked to
prevent unintentional opening. It can be
opened by pushing the cocking lever beyond
the “S” position without cocking the rifle
(Fig. 3).
Advanced Magazine Construction
Detachable magazine. Open Receiver enables rapid, easy
loading from above even with inserted magazine (Fig. 4). High
magazine capacity, lockable magazine release button – for
tough hunting conditions the magazine can be reliably secured
against loss.

Mauser Manual Cocking Safety System:
The M 03 is cocked manually just prior to
shooting. Cocking: Move the cocking lever to the
right into the “Fire” position (Fig. 1). De-cocking:
Press the de-cocking button; cocking lever
slides back to the “Safe” position (Fig. 2).

Mauser Double Square Mount
The M 03 comes prepared for the Original Mauser Double
Square Mount (DSM) as standard: The DSM allows for very low
scope mounting with optimum return-to-zero accuracy for all
standard scopes and red dot sights. The scope is easily
mounted and locked (Fig. 7).

Mauser Trigger System
Crisp single stage trigger as standard (approx. 1,500 g /
3 1/4 lbs). Combi trigger on request (Not available in the US.
Fig. 6) with adjustable set trigger (approx. 1,000 g / 2 1/8 lbs
direct; set trigger pull weight approx. 100 — 300 g / 3 1/2 — 10 1/2
ozs). The set trigger automatically unsets when the rifle is
de-cocked or the bolt opened — a major safety advantage.

The buck horn rear sight with cupro nickel
contrast inlay can be adjusted for windage,
the front sight with a 4 mm sharp-focus
cupro nickel bead can be adjusted for
elevation. The sling swivel and the base for
the front sight are mounted on the barrel

Hand-engraved flowing leaf arabesques cover
the action and trigger guard. They also frame
the portrait of an animal on the magazine
floor plate. You can choose the head of a wild
boar, red deer, chamois, roe buck or cape
buffalo. A beautifully grained walnut wood

This handmade rifle case provides the highest
of quality standards and is customized according to your demands. Short versions are
available to accommodate the M 03 (Take
Down), long versions accept the M 98
(Magnum) with or without mounted rifle scope.
All Mauser leather rifle cases feature reinforced corners and high-quality combination
or key locks. The picture shows a rifle case
