which had a rock flavor, the ever so
sweet X’mas Party, the ‘masti
bhara’ New Years’ eve Gala, the
musically eclectic Club Annual
Day, the multi enthralling Annual
MNC Gala Dinner, the screening of
the humorous and very ‘real’
movie 3 Idiots, the serene ladies
trip to Abu Dhabi…all of these
were so enthusiastically received
by you. It gives us immense satisfaction when our efforts are appreciated by one and all.
Entire families were kept on
their toes at the sports meet. Well, a
little pain but plenty to gain.
We promise that the momentum
won’t go down. On the anvil, we
have a picnic to Oman for the
adventurous, the Valentine’s Ball
for the quintessential lovebirds,
Holi celebrations for the colorfully
inclined, two plays and Cheti
Chand all lined up in the coming
weeks.
2010 will be another year to
remember at the IC…
Cheers.

Mohammed bin Rashid Al
Maktoum, the Prime Minister and
Vice President of the UAE and
ruler of Dubai. The same year concluded with a meeting with Smt.
Pratibha Patil, the President of

ANNUAL DAY
s the sun slowly set and the
lights came on, the stage
was set for the the tough men
and women in their finest
leather and polished chrome to
come together once again to
celebrate the India club's bikers
ball.
Around 40 bikes roared into
the specially prepared
enclosure within the club and
leading the pack was Jai
Mansukhani. With an
enthusiastic crowd cheering on,
the sound of thunder filled the
arena. On display were some
of the finest machines from the
fastest Hayabusa's, BMW's,
Honda's to a lot of Harley's.
Harley riders were seen trying
the Royal Enfield which had a
specially prepared display. A
throw back to their younger
days and thier first love one
must presume.
The evening started with a
band performance from the
'Puckers' who had some
technical problems with their
guitar but nevertheless put up
some sound music. Next time
they could invite the bikers for
an Informal Karaoke rock
session, 'Bikers Rock'. Prizes
were awarded for the best three
bikes and there was even a
'noisiest machine' contest which
the Harleys won hands down.
With some lovely 70's music by
DJ Fini, drinks, dancing and a

ad a great time at the 46th
Club Annual Day
celebrations. The party was
organized very well as usual.
The food was great.
Unfortunately, Neeraj Shridhar
lost his voice which was a bit
disappointing and unfortunate.
However, the back-up band was
excellent.
All the same, we enjoyed the
party.

MNC GALA DINNER
t is with great pleasure that I
Iam writing to you. The
recently held MNC function was
a great event and a thoroughly
enjoyable evening. The
programme conducted by the
club was magnificent and, true
to tradition of MNC the annual
dinner was very glamorous.
The violinist welcoming guests
at the entrance, scintillating
dancers performing on an
international dance
theme...magicians doing
amazing tricks. The highlight of
the day of course were the pole
dancers who danced right in
the midst of the crowd very
gracefully.
Needless to say the food as
always was the very best
jalebis, kebabs and awesome
food resulting in the foodcourts and the bar counters
being swamped with happy
revellers portraying the sentiments of the event. All in all it
was a totally memorable
evening and we wish that we
get to witness more of such
events in the future as well...

NEW YEAR’S BASH
e had attended the New
WYear party with our family
and friends.
It was a good party, and we
had a lot of fun. There were
more than 1000 people having
a time of their lives.
I just wish that the party had
gone on and on into the wee
hours as 3am was just too early
to wrap up that night. The
music, ambience had really set
the mood right to keep on
partying till sunrise.
Hope there will be more such
parties in the future.

Ienough to write about this
cultura, nostalgic trip organised
for ladies by our India Super
Club.
We had a breakfree journey,
from home and daily routine.
The best part was that on our
way we were playing
Antakshari which we have not
played in many years after
school.
Our first destination was the
Sheikh Zayed Mosque. It is
a must visit place. The
architecture is awesome, very
well made with marble, mosaic,
pearls, semi precious stones,
and pure gold. The outside
floor is made with the marble
that absorbs heat and keeps it
cool. From the exteriors to the
carpeting to the interiors to
carvings everything is just
Lajawab. The building
material has been imported
from 53 different countries and
people from 28 different
countries all over the world
have participated to make this
incredible monument.
Our next stop was the royal
Emirates Palace. After this we
moved to Abu Dhabi corniche
although we did not spend time
there as it was a bright sunny
day. The last stop was Abu
Dhabi Marina Mall where we
stopped for lunch and some
nice shopping.
We were pepped up and
charged to face our daily grind
with a fresh view. We
encourage the club
management to organise more
such trips. It was not only a fun
trip but an informative one and
after living for so many years in
the UAE, so many places are
unexplored and unseen.
India Club rocks and so do
we! Keep Rocking!

A Christmas Party was held for children
on 24th December ‘09. Over 100 kids participated in the enchanting evening of fun and
games. The evening started with carol
singing followed by party games.
There was DJ Music, amongst other
things. Santa arrived with much fanfare
and distributed sweets and prizes to the
kids at the party.
The Crystal lounge was decorated with
lovely Christmas decorations besides the
Christmas tree. It was a glorious sight it
was to see most of the kids wearing red outfits.
The party ended with the kids getting
snacks and gift hampers.
A
kids seminar on
developing a positive
attitude was
conducted by Ms. Sharon
Monteiro on the 9th of
January 2010. Sharon is a life
coach, Motivational Speaker,
Quiz Master and a budding
author. Over forty kids
attended the seminar.
Every individual has their
own conversation going on in
their heads. This dialogue is
commonly referred to as self
talk. Sharon explained how
positive self talk and the
language you choose can
shape the way you perceive
reality.
A very interactive seminar
with fun and laughter, she
asked the kids to flush down
all negative self talk and
beliefs. She made the kids
aware of how they speak to
themselves, to identify the
neagtives and close them
down, thus freeing them to
focus their time and energy
on more positive and
productive approaches.

On First Aid
I
ndia club invited Dr. Nishi Singh, Professor at the Sharjah Higher
Colleges of Technology to give a presentation on January 16th
2010 on First Aid: Simple steps to save lives. The program was
very useful for all the attendees who gained valuable knowledge
from her extremely useful tips of do’s and don’ts.
The attendees ranged from young to senior citizens who were
eager to learn simple tips that are highly useful in daily life to protect
themselves from contamination and infections.
The presentation highlighted the common mistakes everyone
makes while giving first aid. Her advice to everyone was to attend
similar first aid workshops and courses and, to train themselves to be
useful in times of need.
Dr. Nishi gave a very useful tip not to touch the blood of an injured
person without using gloves or if in absence of gloves to use clean
plastic bags.
She also emphasized not to put anything other than cold water on a
burn. She answered the queries of all attendees and cleared their
doubts. The attendees were extremely impressed and expressed the
desire to attend more such workshops. The workshop was organised

A
cultural trip was organized to Abu Dhabi, the capital of UAE, on
Wednesday, 20th January 2010.
Forty ladies boarded the 10 am guided tour of the Sheikh Zayed
mosque. After donning the abayas and hijabs they were guided around, to
marvel at the architectural excellence of the third largest mosque (the 1st
and 2nd largest being the holy mosques in Mecca and Medina) in the
world.
The ladies got an opportunity to enter the mosque which boasts of 82
domes, 4 tall minarets, the largest chandelier and largest carpet woven by
ladies, in the world. The coolness of the Italian marble used in the wadhu
khana, a place to wash before prayers and the inlaid semi precious stone
in the interior of the mosque made everyone feel very proud to be part of
the UAE. The Holy Quaran
recital could be heard
continuosly at the grave of
Sheikh Zayed where prayers
were offered for his departed
soul.
Then an hour of an
educational tour gave a deep
insight into the religion of
Islam coupled with joy and
happiness and a great sense
of self fulfillment and
achievement.
The trip continued onward
to the Corniche, the Emirates

However, along with yoga a few simple changes in your lifestyle will go a
long way in relieving pain and
strengthening your back. Let us start
with when you wake up from bed.
Usually you wake up and immediately raise your back and jump straight
out of bed, placing a tremendous
strain on the back. But observe how a
cat wakes up. On waking up, it first
stretches out all the joints in the body,
moves and stretches the back and
then gingerly stands on its feet.

The spinal cord is one of the most
amazingly designed structures in
nature. It forms the center piece of
the human body, providing strength
and stability which allows man to
walk up straight, while also offering a
wide range of movement to the body
in motion. Sedentary lifestyle, driving, travelling, stresses (both emotional and physical), over- stretched
muscles, and postural mistakes are
the main cause to the widespread
problem of back pain. Body mechan-

back pain. Yoga is a safe and effective way to get rid of back problems
and to prevent it from recurring.
Stretching and twisting the spine
increases blood circulation which
helps in healing injured tissues. It
also helps to maintain a natural
curve of the spine which is important
to avoid back pain.
Stretching stimulates our internal

A multi cuisine lavish buffet
dinner was arranged for the
MNC Members at the food court
which consisted of exotic salads,
Indian, Continental cuisines,
sumptuous soup and sweets
with live cooking.
3 Idiots
T
he movie, 3 idiots starring Aamir Khan, Madhavan,
Sharman Joshi and Karina Kapoor was screened for the
MNC members on Friday, 15th January 2010 at the
Metroplex Cinema, Dubai.
Over 400 members attended the hilarious and probably the
biggest hit of Bollywood. This hit movie is considered to be the
biggest grosser amongst Hindi film releases. The audience
thoroughly enjoyed the movie and were pleasantly surprised
when offered complimentary popcorn and pepsi.

India Club
here are very few
things in life, that leave
you completely
awestruck. Meeting the
President of India at her office
in the Rashtrapati Bhavan,
definitely qualifies as one.
Top that with a sumptuous
meal and a tour of the
Presidential Palace and we
have an unforgettable event
happening in our lives.
The tour of the Rashtrapati
Bhavan was like wading
through our history.
Memories of what we have
studied in school, like the
platform from where the
Indian civilian awards are
given, exotic lotus shaped
fountains at the Mughal
gardens, the president’s
museum, the grand Ashoka
room, the fountain sculptures
of the cobras at the entrance,
the majestic red sandstone
jallis, the intricately designed
gold murals on the ceiling
corridors and, so much more
came flooding back. It is
difficult to enumerate all of
them as they, just took one’s
breath away with the sheer
grandeur of the moment.
Memories always nudge
our delicate nostalgic
underbelly. When we think
of India’s history, the most
endearing part is the
tradition and culture that we
inherit. This integral part of
GYM Staircase-1
CHAAT CHOWK
ASOKA COMPLEX FACADE
our lives stays uncorrupted
even as time wears on. We
should learn to respect and
nurture such enduring
treasures for the forthcoming
generations because that is
the only thing which will
preserve our national
identity.
At the Club, we try.
The only thing I can add is
that a trip like that only
enriches ones’ life and is
bestowed only on a lucky
few.
Chaat Chowk has elicited
a great response and the
brighter colors outside the
Coolsportz and Ashoka
Complex are giving the Club
a fresher look. The pathway
from the TT room to the
Ashoka Complex entrance is
due for refurbishment next
and will follow the same pattern which is outside the
Coolsportz complex.
The list of affiliated Clubs
to various cities in India continues to grow and Club
members can avail of various
facilities of upto 30 Clubs in
major cities all over India.
We welcome your com-
ments and suggestions and
are always keen to know
how we can better ourselves
to offer you improved services…
