Important Things to Know
from the
New Castle Sustainability Advisory Board
Reduce Your Electric Bill Now!
Time is running out to take advantage of Solarize, a New Castle
SAB and New York State sponsored solar program. Receive
reduced prices on a solar system for your home from a contractor
that has gone through multiple levels of reviews. Take advantage
of huge state and federal incentives before they expire!
Call 800-903-6130 or go to http://goo.gl/V3JQln for information.
We’re Doing Great – Let’s Keep it Up!
We switched to single-stream in 2015 and we’re saving waste
and money – big time! As of October we recycled 2,016 tons, a
5.3% increase over 2014, saved over 100 tons of CO2, and saved
over $484,719! We can do even better. Remember, recycle paper
and cardboard products, plastics, metal, and glass. Don’t
curbside recycle clothing, food covered items, leaves/twigs,
plastic bags, or styrofoam.
Note: Plastic bags are no longer recyclable and should be thrown
out. So put recyclables loose in bins, not bags!

New Castle Chooses Greener and Cheaper Energy
In 2016, Con Ed may no longer be the default power supplier to
residents and small businesses in New Castle. We are part of a
coalition of 24 Westchester towns that
plans to contract with a third party supplier to
obtain better pricing and more options for
choosing renewable energy sources. Con Ed
will remain responsible for distribution and billing.
