The Official Marathon Maniac Pace Teams
Did you know the Marathon
Maniacs have an official
pace team? Since Maniacs
are no stranger to running
26.2 miles many of you are
good running these runs.
There are many great
reasons to join the pace
team and many rewarding
aspects to being a pacer.
Requirements to be a Pacer
• Must have completed 15 marathons for your desired distance to pace
• Marathon Pacer: Must have completed the marathon distance 20 minutes
faster than your pace time for the full marathon (example: to pace a 4:00
hour you must have run a 3:40 marathon)
• To be in good standing with the Marathon Maniacs and all dues current
• Have your MM race page updated so that we can link your information
• CPR Certification by event date-please contact your local fire department
for a FREE class

For the second year in a row Maniacs from all over the country flocked to the
southern states of Mississippi and Alabama for the 2015 Maniac reunion. Many
stayed to run the Louisiana Marathon the next week. While many other
Maniacs travel to Florida to run with the mouse.at Disney World.

RHETORICAL REVELATIONS AND W(RITES)…

Hiya Prez,
You know I think your other club members are Incredible Running Beasts. I’ve got nothing on
them. When one’s mile 23 gives birth to the mantra, “Drag-the-Other-Leg-Forward-NOW!…and…
repeat…”, one realizes one’s place. I’m just glad you let me in the club, though I do retain the curious inexplicable hope of catching
you out there yet, Yee.
And so, in utmost respect to your legendary followers, I for these ten years have saved my preaching for Sundays, purposely praising
your peers in here. But, just this once, Prez, well, I CAN’T STAND IT ANYMOOOORE. It is soapbox time for Rev. Here goeth.
Mr. Steve Yee, your kind, humble, mildly Bashful manner is so reassuring and positive at the end of marathons, that you are a
Godsend there. No doctor perhaps, but the healing spirit you disperse is wonderful.
And Wise Man #2, Hollywood Warren, giggling and Happy-talking all the time, he too is an elixir of encouragement at events. But he
too, no doctor. And Tony: swimming, biking, running, organizing, measuring courses, he wouldn’t have the time to be a doctor if he
was one, which, turns out, he isn’t.
So maybe you ought to put in your Welcome Letter to New Maniacs the following. You ready?
“Anyone asking for medical advice on the Maniac Facebook Page is hereby nutsier than presumed herein. We are officially going all
Marshawn Lynch on you: to your medical questions, we will repeat one answer: ‘Please. Go see Doc.’ ‘Please. Go see Doc.’ ‘Please. Go
see... ’ ”.
It is cuckoo to try to describe in a short paragraph, for accurate diagnoses and prescriptive measures, one’s own medical misfortunes.
If it is medical, it has connected dots: the aching knee bone IS connected to other bones, and never mind – although we should –
those bones are further attached to muscles, tendons, ligaments, fibers, out-of-whack vertebrae that are potentially involved, and
history. These complexities may escape even you, the patient! Yet, many seek (necessarily blind) diagnoses and sound advice on
Facebook?
Sure, one MIGHT hit gold pooling 1,000 ideas, but which idea? The year, or years, may regret the choice.
Let’s try the argument from a different angle. Tiger Woods, he of the unlimited financial resources, surely gets substantial
professional medical advice. Yet even this has failed him recently again. Now: would he then be insightful to float a Facebook post?
Are his chances really better if Mr. D.N.F. from Tacoma, hotbed of all things Maniacal, checks in?
You might win in Vegas too. But these are your limbs. So maybe, think again.
I am not accosting any one person here, nor any one post. This is about the idea. And the idea is to get you well. Luck eventually loses
in Vegas.
We have Happy, Sneezy, Bashful, and all the rest in here alright, and some really extraordinary runners. No doubt, we have doctors
too…but they are reading, not examining. So, for your specific medical questions?
