Cab comfort without the idling Crosspoint Solutions’ ClimaCab® 3.0 battery-powered APU provides: l Significant fuel savings – up to 2,500 gallons per year lR eduction in engine hours – by as many as 2,000 per year l Improved driver comfort in the cab – intuitive digital interface maintains constant temperature l Start Assist™ patented technology – eliminates need for jump-starts l Compass program – enables fleet fuel-conservation management/monitoring ClimaCab® is SmartWay verified and offers the most advanced battery-operated climate-control system on the market today. Produced by Crosspoint Solutions, ClimaCab features a power management system that provides more than 12 hours of idle-free temperature control. ClimaCab’s Power Management Module (PMM) not only manages power while running, it also manages battery charge and discharge cycles. The three-step smart charger can be programmed to charge four types of AGM batteries by optimizing the OEM charge and discharge profile. Start reaping the benefits of the ClimaCab® APU today! ClimaCab® 3.0 from Crosspoint Solutions ClimaCab® is recognized as the premier technology in the batterypowered Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) market. Its state-of-the-art control system continuously monitors changing conditions and adjusts the variable-speed compressor as required to allow for industry-proven performance to cool the sleeper on Class 8 trucks. Crosspoint has designed its APU around power management to maximize efficiency while providing superior driver comfort. Additional features, such as Start Assist™, allow energy transfer from the APU batteries to the truck batteries, eliminating the need for jump-starts. The ClimaCab® system requires no ducting, saving space under the bunk and making installation faster. No ducting also means there is no static pressure, allowing you to get 100% of the fan’s rated CFM. ClimaCab® enables you to comply with anti-idling laws and keep your drivers comfortable at docks during loading/unloading and overnight, while reducing engine hours and fuel consumption. ClimaCab® 3.0 features: l 12 hours or more of no-idle temperature control l 2-year limited warranty l Easy-to-use digital driver control panel l ClimaCab Compass™ dashboard reports l Patented Start Assist™ l Patented load-sharing capability l Solid-state AGM battery-charging technology l Shorepower plug-in option l Espar and other heater options l Installation flexibility l North American sales-and-service network A Class 8 truck consumes approximately 1 gallon of diesel fuel per hour while idling at night to keep its driver comfortable in the sleeper cab. Many trucks idle up to 2,000 hours per year consuming more than 2,500 gallons of fuel. The ClimaCab® APU eliminates the need to idle the truck’s engine, saving fleets more than $8,000 per truck annually. Crosspoint Solutions’ ClimaCab® 3.0 APU offers these unique features & benefits Start Assist™ eliminates jump-starts constantly sensing the temperature and controlling its variable-speed compressor. If your engine’s starter battery cannot start your truck, activate Start Assist™ and ClimaCab® will quick charge your truck’s starter battery. No more waiting for roadside assistance or paying service fees. Start Assist™ eliminates jump-starts, saving you time and money. Traditional HVAC controls are limited to High/ Medium/Low settings, which must be changed manually. They can’t sense temperature changes to automatically adjust the cooling output to maintain a consistent comfort level. They require that the driver wake up several times during the night to adjust the temperature. Power Management improves battery performance & lifespan Cooling – ClimaCab’s high-volt variable-speed compressor and blower deliver 8,000 BTUs per hour of cooling for more than 12 hours. Intelligent controls monitor and adjust to compensate for changing temperatures, maximizing efficiency and providing superior comfort. ClimaCab’s Power Management Module™ (PMM) uses solid-state charger technology to enable compatibility with existing high output alternators, eliminating costly upgrades. Power management is as equally important as efficiency and is an aspect of cab cooling that often is ignored. ClimaCab uses its patented variablespeed technology to match the work of the air conditioner to the thermal load in the cab enabling maximum run time. Battery Management – The PMM monitors ClimaCab’s four deep-cycle AGM batteries to assure proper charge and discharge cycles for improved battery performance and long life. Load Sharing – The PMM allows you to share the energy of the truck’s batteries to extend ClimaCab’s run time and protects your starter battery from ever being fully depleted. Digital Touch Screen delivers a good night’s sleep The ClimaCab® touch screen takes the guesswork out of comfort. Its digital interface is intuitive and easily lets drivers set temperature levels. After turning on the system, the driver immediately sees the current cab temperature. He simply inputs his desired temperature and the system does the rest. He can sleep through the night while ClimaCab® maintains the temperature in his bunk area by The system requires no ducting, saving space under the bunk and making the install faster. No ducting also means there is no static pressure, allowing you to get 100% of the fan’s rated CFM. Heating: Fuel-fired Heat – When heat is needed, ClimaCab’s touch screen integrates with a heater mounted under the bunk, retaining total system control. Fuel-fired heaters use a small amount of diesel fuel to obtain a significant heat output. ClimaCab® reduces maintenance & increases market value The ClimaCab® solution provides maintenance savings over both primary engine idling and diesel APUs. Class 8 truck engines get additional wear due to idling, which reduces engine life. It is an inefficient range of operation for both emissions control and percentage of fuel burn. ClimaCab® can reduce engine hours as much as 2,000 per year. That’s 8,000 to 10,000 fewer engine hours in a typical turn of a truck in a long-haul fleet. This increases the residual value of the truck on the used market. With escalating fuel costs and stricter EPA standards, fleets are recognizing the many benefits of battery-powered APUs, some of which are outlined below in comparison with the diesel counterpart. Diesel APU Declining category – fewer manufacturers Electric APU Crosspoint Solutions is the only manufacturer you need Expense Average use of 668 gallons of diesel per year Continually rising fuel costs Lengthy installation required Savings Eliminates idling, saving you fuel Savings increase as diesel fuel prices increase Installation flexibility Service Costly maintenance Difficulties scheduling maintenance Revenue losses during maintenance Service Reduced idling means longer engine life, less maintenance Fewer scheduling conflicts Less down time equals more revenue Emissions Particulate filter required to be CARB verified Won’t pass future regulations Emissions No cab emissions infiltration Passes current & future emissions regulations Not driver friendly Multiple controls Noisy Extremely driver friendly One convenient digital control panel Low-noise operation Generally higher cost than electric Lower overall cost than diesel ClimaCab Compass™ Every ClimaCab® unit comes equipped with a USBbased data port that collects system operational data. The ClimaCab® Nanuk program analyzes the USBstick truck data and produces a Compass™ dashboard providing operational system reporting. This dashboard allows fleet managers to review system run time, battery state of charge and temperature averages, and it provides an ROI calculation to report fuel savings. 5511 W. 79th Street Indianapolis, IN 46268 Tel: 877-826-9399 Email: salesadmin@crosspointsolutionsgroup.com Crosspointsolutionsgroup.com ©2012 Cummins Crosspoint, LLC All Rights Reserved.
