My Spring Garden
My favourite seasons are spring, summer, fall,
and winter ― in that order. I really do love the
climate in Canada, although I could do without
the months February, March, and sometimes
April. It is sunny today, so I just ran outside to
take this picture for you, and me.
I am proud of the way this little garden is coming
along. When we moved into this house two years
ago, this spot was filled with nothing but gravel
and a single Weeping Mullbery tree. It now has a
variety of plants in it. My plan is to make this the
spot for spring bulbs. It's located alongside the
sidewalk where neighbours can enjoy it as they
pass by.
I have learned that a garden is a great way to
connect with the people around you. On a couple
of occasions, I found one neighbour quietly
gazing at my new garden. Now, each time we
see each other, we grin broadly at one another.
He doesn't speak English, but I do think I have
found a kindred spirit in him. He is an elderly
gentleman who walks slowly, with the support
of a cane. I truly enjoy seeing him. It's incredible
what a smile can do.
My husband, Ron, and I have vowed to spend
our weekends this summer doing the things
we have been missing. For the first time, we
will be attending the Taste of the Town event at
the Gibson Centre in Alliston. I will take a few

pictures while I am there and hopefully, have
something to share with you next month. I've
heard nothing but rave reviews from people who
have attended the event. I know we are going to
have a great time talking to people we haven't
seen for a while, and I am sure we will be leaving
with our bellies full of delicious food made by
local restaurants and food vendors. Yummy!
The Kingston Canadian Film Festival was
fantastic. I didn't count the movies we saw, but
they were many. I would like to tell you more
about it, but it's time to go to press.
Thank you for reading the Briar Crier.

Around Town - NEWS & EVENTS
Councillor's
Report
Signs of Spring are everywhere. This beautiful
season of renewal is enjoyed by so many,
especially our farmers. It is great to see so
much activity on the land again.
The projects approved in our 2016 budget are
progressing well. Our residents will see many
improvements throughout New Tecumseth
(roads, sidewalks, parks, equipment, bridges,
museum roof, fire equipment, and changes
at our libraries). Each Ward will benefit from
these approved projects.
The KPMG Consultant report
recommendations will be implemented
during 2016 and onward, to improve levels
of service to our residents as we work toward
“Excellence” in our Organization. Change is
always very difficult; it takes time and must
be managed in a professional manner. The
people who do business with our staff can
certainly let us know how we are doing on a
regular basis.
The Senior of the Year will be chosen soon
and then recommended to the Province for
approval. The award will be presented on
Canada Day to a very deserving person in
New Tecumseth.
Our annual grants and donations will
continue to be given to many deserving
volunteer organizations. The problem we see
with fee waiving for so many different venues,
is that it is double dipping from the taxpayers.
The whole idea of receiving grants, etc., is that
some of the money is intended to cover venue
costs. A business plan to sustainability is also
required. Many residents have told me that
it is easy to hold a function if someone else
6 April 2016
pays the bills. Our Town has many functions
that are great for all to be involved with and
the organizers do not come to Council for any
funding from the taxpayers.
The Town has increased the planning fees and
shortly will also increase our development
fees to cover operating costs and try to keep
tax increases as low as possible.
The 14th Line from 15th Side-road westerly
is having the comprehensive detailed design
undertaken for this section of municipal rural
road improvements in the near future.
The Town has new social media policies and
the accounts for Twitter and Facebook will be
managed by our communication
co-ordinator Tatjana Milne, for these external
communications.
The KPMG report recommended a new
approach to social media. The Town has now
launched a presence on social media with
one corporate account for both Facebook and
Twitter. We will use these new channels to
share up-to-date, accurate information and to
promote events.
Our new Facebook page link is
Facebook.com/newtecumseth. Our Twitter
link is Twitter.com/newtecumseth and our
phone number is 705-435-3900. Press “0” to
be directed to the appropriate department
to address your issues. YOU MAY WISH
TO SAVE THIS INFORMATION IN YOUR
PHONE BOOK AND/OR
CELL PHONE.
Concerns have been raised by residents about
the use and accuracy of social media by others
as it relates to Town information. It can be an
asset if used professionally. It is also abused
by some, as we all know.
A reminder to all residents to approach the
lights at Highway 89 and Nottawasaga Resort
Way very cautiously as it has been observed
that vehicles are running the red light from
the east and the west.
I recently saw a cartoon in the Toronto Star
with a very familiar type coffee cup. It stated
that we each owe $22,000.00 of the rising
Provincial debt. The cup had the words “Roll

Dog Owners (response to Letter we published
here in March 2016)
I would like to respond to your letter about
dog owners.
I completely agree with Debbie Wise; there is
a small % of dog owners that do not pick up
after their dogs which makes the ones that do
look bad. So I hope this message gets to these
people and they follow the rules to pick up
after their dogs. Everyone will be happy and
the community will look beautiful and clean
with caring residents.
Sincerely Barbara Watkins

(NEW TECUMSETH, ON) – The Town of
New Tecumseth is warning residents that
it is not affiliated with any companies or

Hospitals thank County of Simcoe
Council for $3 million investment
(MIDHURST ON) —County of Simcoe
Councillors were recognized for their ongoing
commitment to the well-being of County
residents when representatives from Simcoe
County hospitals and Southlake Regional
Health Care Centre stopped by to thank them
for another $3 million in support of capital
projects across the region.
The $3 million is part of a 10-year $30 million
commitment by the county that started in 2007
for hospital redevelopment projects. Funds
are distributed to the Simcoe County Hospital
Alliance which includes Southlake, Royal
Victoria Regional Health Centre, Collingwood
General and Marine Hospital, Georgian
Bay General Hospital in Midland, Alliston’s
Stevenson Memorial Hospital and Orillia
Soldiers Memorial Hospital and Waypoint
Centre for Mental Health Care.
“The residents of Simcoe County really are
the beneficiaries of these funds. These dollars
have helped pay for cancer centres in Barrie
and Newmarket, new emergency departments
and expansion of services such as dialysis and
diagnostic imaging in Orillia, Midland, Alliston
and Collingwood. Every year we are pleased to
appear before County Council to bring thanks
on behalf of our patients to County Council for
this generosity,” said Guy Chartrand, the chair
of the Alliance and Collingwood General and
Marine Hospital President and CEO.
Following a small appreciation event in the
morning, Chartrand also provided an update to
Council during the regular meeting as to how
the funds are being used and information on the
growing use of area hospitals in the
last year.
“Over the last nine years we have provided
significant funding to our hospitals directly
supporting important projects that positively
impact the lives of our residents,” said Warden
Marshall. “As a County government, service
provider and funding partner, we play an
important role in the local health care system.
We will also continue to advocate other levels of
government to ensure our residents continue to
have access to world-class health care services.”
Details of how the $3 million was distributed to
the five hospitals for 2015 include:
Collingwood General & Marine Hospital
$222,75; Georgian Bay General Hospital
$540,483; Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre
$1,859,297; Southlake Regional Health Centre
$238,150; Stevenson Memorial Hospital $131,032
The Simcoe County Hospital Alliance was
established in 2002 to advise the County of
ongoing hospital capital needs. It is comprised
of CEOs of all hospitals located in Simcoe
County as well as Newmarket, and aims to
ensure equitable distribution of available
funding from the County to Alliance hospitals.
Since 1994 the County has provided $62.2
million to the hospitals in Simcoe County
and Southlake, with the current $30 million
commitment ending in 2016.

to reach a certain number of homes each year,
and communication is vital.
If you press the ‘test’ button on your detector
it may still beep, but that only means it still
knows how to beep, according to Worley.
Manufacturers do not guarantee the
functionality of a smoke detector in a real fire
if it is older than ten years.
“We used to recommend changing them every
ten years, and now the law says they MUST
be changed,” Worley advised. Furthermore,
if your smoke detectors are electrically wired
into your home, you have to replace them with
ones that are wired. A battery-only detector
will not pass inspection.
The New Tecumseth Fire
Department looking out for Briar
residents
By Brenda Storrie
for the Briar Crier
If your smoke detectors are more than ten
years old, they are no longer reliable. They
are also illegal in Ontario—and you can be
fined several hundred dollars for not replacing
them. Provincial codes now require carbon
monoxide (CO) detectors, as well.
Responsible prevention is a critical priority,
according to New Tecumseth Deputy Fire
Chief Simon Worley. Worley’s mandate
includes Fire Prevention and Education, and
his department sees a continued safety risk in
many of our homes.
The Green Briar and Briar Hill communities
are connected and close, which means there
is more at stake than individual safety.
Not all our residents are speedy and alert
in an emergency. Also, false alarms due to
outdated and defective smoke detectors are
now occurring—which places stress on the
community and is costly and dangerous.
Businesses and large buildings pay closer
attention to fire codes and the law, Worley
says, so the majority of fire deaths occur in
private dwellings. New Tecumseth has a
door-to-door campaign, but it’s only possible
16 April 2016
Some residents have avoided the problem
because it’s inconvenient—especially where
the detector is located in a difficult area like a
vaulted ceiling. To change it may mean calling
in a handyman, contractor or family member
with a tall ladder or scaffolding. However, it
is the legal obligation of the homeowner to get
the job done, and not the responsibility of the
condo corporation or the municipality.
Homeowners do not believe a fire will happen
to them, Worley said. They don’t like to think
about maintenance or prevention, and they
don’t have an escape plan. Our older, less agile
residents need support, reminders, and followup to prevent needless tragedy.
Some tips
Carbon monoxide detectors (CO) are easy
to install—they plug into an outlet. By law,
you must put one near every sleeping area in
the home (and not in the furnace room—you
need to hear the alarm if it goes off). Carbon
monoxide is odorless and fatal, and these
detectors may save your life in the event of
furnace or water heater venting failure.
Smoke detectors must be replaced everywhere
they are currently located. Remember—a
backup battery is a nice feature in case of
power failure, but if your current detectors are
wired into the house, you must replace them
with wired detectors. You may not relocate
them—the building code decides where they
are placed for maximum safety.
There are detectors with strobe lights for
the visually impaired, and there are pillow
mounted units that wake the hearing
impaired—both good options for at-risk
situations.
Detectors in the last decade or so have a
printed expiry sticker on their casing, a helpful
feature for knowing when it’s time. If your
current detectors don’t have an expiry date,
they need changing.
If you frequently set your detector off with the
oven or toast, it can be stressful. One option is
to install a detector with a Silence/Pause button
for false alarms. Or install a ‘photo-electric’
detector in the area closest to your kitchen—
they’re less likely to go off from cooking.
If you are a tenant take note—it is against the
law for you to tamper with or disconnect your
detectors.
Test your detectors monthly, vacuum them for
dust, and change the back-up batteries once
per year.

The last time Green Briar homes were visited

Alice tried to convince

she confided in a friend. The
friend came up with a simple
solution: get a dog. She
explained that you have to

exercise. Alice approached
Murphy about getting a dog.
He was dead set against it.
"We don't go anywhere,
anyway," Alice retorted.

"Are you starting to knit something", Murphy
asks. The surprised look on Alice's face told
him that "no" was about to be his answer.
"What's the white stuff in the basket?" By now
he was eating his cookie and leaning over the
basket. Two big black eyes were looking back
at him.
"It's alive!" he shouts.

"Meet Molly, my dog, and do not step on her.
If you're not going to walk with me,
Molly will."
Murphy had nothing but a grunt left to
respond with. He headed for his chair with a
handful of cookies feeling a little put out.
"That sissy little floor mop better not get in my
way," was his last word on that subject.
Alice smiled as she could hear him quietly
ranting about Molly in the next room.

Molly tried her best to break down Murphy's
attitude about her. She sat, just out of reach,
and stared at him. He would hide his face
behind his newspaper or his hand. She gave
gentle barks to get his attention, but ignored
her. Alice brushed and snuggled with Molly,
which made Murphy jealous, and so he
dislikes Molly all the more.
As the summer drifted by, the relationship
between Molly and Murphy did not improve.
Alice and Molly continued their walks
throughout the neighbourhood. Both of them
found new friends; Alice to talk with and
Molly to play with. Alice so wished Murphy
would share this experience with her.
It was Thursday and Alice realized that she
had booked a hair appointment and checkup
at the doctor's in the same morning. Franticly
she readied herself for the appointments and
announced to Murphy that he had to take
Molly out for a walk or Molly would relive
herself in the house. As Alice exited the house
she could hear Murphy call back that he
didn't care where she relieved herself. Alice
imagined that her blood pressure would be
high by the time she got to her check-up.
24 April 2016
An hour later, Molly was turning circles in the
living room and Murphy was ignoring her.
She began to bark, at first gently, then sharply
with purpose. Finally Murphy resentfully got
off his chair and grabbed the lead and harness
from the hook by the door.
"All right you little mop, I'll take you out
back and no further. The last thing I want is
someone to see me with you."
He put Molly on the kitchen table and tried to
figure out how to put the harness on her body.
Alright, alright, alright, he muttered as Molly
would not stand still. Finally the harness
was on, well sort of. He could not see how to
attach the lead to the harness."A knot will do",
he said.
Just as Murphy shut the front door Ben called
out to him "Hey where've you been Murph. I
thought you had died or something."
"I'm okay. How are you?"
Before Murphy knew it, he was walking down
the path chatting and reuniting with a friend
with Molly out in front. Her fur danced in the
breeze as she pranced in front, stopping every
so often as required. They stopped at the
gazebo where a sit- down felt good.
This was more exercise than Murphy had had
in months.
"Hi guys," called Carl, "How ya' doing
Murphy. Nice to see you out and about."
The conversation went on for a while until
Carl wanted to know why Murphy had a
leash without a dog on it.
Murphy said, "This is Molly". He looked down
only to find that Molly was gone. He stood
up in shock ― "Alice is going to kill me if
anything happens to Molly. She is Alice's dog
and I have to find her now!"
"Take it easy Murphy, we'll help. What does
your dog look like?"
"She looks like a mop, a white mop."
The men fanned out calling Mollie's name.
Murphy called gently ― "M o l l y".
Ben advised Murphy "She will never hear you.
Holler it!" They covered three streets in the
Shire and came back to Murphy's home.

back his relief after seeing Molly. He picked
her up, gave her hugs, and he rubbed her
head.
Murhpy said to his friend Ben, "I'll see you
later and I'll call Carl to let him know Molly
has been found." Ben answered, "Cute dog
Murph."

Murphy would thank his friends later that
night but right now, Molly needed water and
Murphy needed his chair.
The house was silent when Alice came in.
The dog's lead was on the hook but she didn't
know what on earth was going on with the
attachment of the harness and clip. She could
hear gentle snoring coming from the living
room, so she peeked in. Murphy was sound
asleep in his chair and lying across one lap
was sleeping Molly with dirty feet and a pine
cone hanging off one ear.
Alice turned slowly towards the kitchen. She
fixed the dog's lead the harness and hung
them back up on the peg.
"I would love to know what happened. On
second thought, maybe it's better that I don't
know," she said to herself. Nothing was said
when Murphy awoke, though Alice could
see that there had been a breakthrough in
the relationship between man and dog. She
decided not to intrude on their experience.
The change was unmistakable. Evening
walks with Molly became the activity of the
day. Murphy, Alice, and Molly and their
two legged and four legged friends met at
the gazebo; Murphy always with a supply of
treats in his pocket. "I should of done this a
long time ago,' remarked Murphy.
Alice just smiled and rolled her eyes.

Condo CORNER
The first Condo Corner was published in the
March 2011 issue of the Briar Crier. Since then,
it has appeared on a fairly regular basis. We,
and the author, are regularly asked to tackle
subjects that have previously been covered.
This is understandable, as many of the current
residents have moved here since the article
they are looking for was printed. This month,
we are reprinting a column that first appeared
in the June 2011 edition. While we may from
time-to- time republish columns, we are also
planning to make many from earlier editions
available on our website at BriarCrier.ca
Insurance and the
Standard Unit
The Condominium Act imposes the obligation
on condominium corporations to repair
damage to the common areas and to those
parts of units that are included in the Standard
Unit By-law. Corporations are also obliged to
obtain insurance for this purpose. However,
the Act does not oblige insurers to provide it.
In fact, in recent years there have been only a
relatively small number of insurers who are
willing to undertake this type of business. In
addition, some insurers, in order to limit their
exposure, have shown a reluctance to cover all
the corporations in one development, such as
Green Briar/Briar Hill. Individual condominium
homeowners’ insurance is, however, widely
available and therefore more competitively
priced. As everything needs to be insured;
i.e., the common elements, the owners’ unit
(excluding the common elements), and the
owners’ personal furnishings and effects, all unit
owners need to obtain some insurance.
The total cost of all the required insurance,

Optometrists
LOOKING DEEPER INTO
THE HEALTH OF YOUR EYES
Your NTOC Optomestrists are pleased to be using a
highly innovative instrument called the Cirrus HD-OCT
(Ocular Coherence Tomography), the only one to be
found in New Tecumseth, for diagnosic testing. In
addition to digital retinal photography, this advancedtechnology instrument helps your Optometrist to
clearly see the internal structures of your eye like the
retina and optic nerve, so problems such as glaucoma,
diabetes and macular degeneration can be managed in
their earliest stages and monitored for progression.
Advanced diagnostic scans that only take a few minutes
of your time (and never touch your eyes) provide your
Optometrist with direct cross-sectional imaging, or a
“cutaway” view of the layers of the retina and/or optic
nerve. Other instruments show the surface of these
structures, but Cirrus HD-OCT also shows what is below
the surface, enabling your Optometrist to accurately
assess their characteristics. Examining your retina
or optic nerve without this technology would be like
trying to diagnose a broken arm without an x-ray, or a
ruptured disc without an MRI.
At NTOC, we are very proud to offer this technology
to our valued patients, as it is our belief that
preventative care and early diagnosis and treatment is
of utmost importance.
Book your eye exam with us today. It is our mission to
offer you a unique and memorable eye care experience.
Evening and Saturday appointments available.
New patients most welcome!

INDEPENDENTLY OWNED AND OPER ATED
*some conditions may apply
whether paid directly by the unit owners or
indirectly by them through the corporation,
is a cost to the owners. It is unlikely that the
combined cost to a unit owner of the two
insurance policies (the corporation’s and the
owner’s) will be any lower just because the
major part is covered by the corporation’s policy.
Most condominium corporations have by
now adopted Standard Unit by-laws. Some of
these have been written with unit definitions
that include almost everything inside the
unit, even down, literally, to the kitchen sink!
It is unfortunate that owners may have been
encouraged to adopt such definitions in the
belief that they were getting something for
nothing; i.e., that when the corporation pays for
insurance, they would be better off, which as
mentioned above, is unlikely to be the case.
In practice, a corporation will not always find
that it is appropriate to claim on its insurance for
all repairs, even where they might be covered
by its insurance policy. This might be because
the amount is relatively insignificant and is
expected to be just below the policy’s deductible
or because a history of claims might cause the
insurer to increase the renewal premium. This
history, where the insurer might “add up” the
cost of similar claims in separate units would
not apply if the claims had been made under
separate unit owners’ policies. Damage to the
internal structures of a unit, by for example
a fire, would likely also involve damage to
furnishings and other personal property not
covered by the corporation’s policy. This would
mean that two insurers would be involved in
assessing the damage and negotiating settlement
of the claims, even where no part of the property
that is actually owned by the corporation (roof,
outside walls, etc.) is damaged.

38 April 2016
As you may know, the Green Briar Community
has 16 Phases, each overseen by a Board of
Directors, all of whom are VOLUNTEERS.
In addition, there are 18+ programs running
weekly at the Community Centre (excluding
the Care First Exercise Program) that are
run by ― you guessed it ― VOLUNTEERS!
There is an executive committee for the Green
Briar Community Centre who meet regularly
throughout the year to manage the day-to-day
running of the Centre who VOLUNTEER. If
these wonderful people didn’t give their time
freely, the Green Briar Community Centre
would not be the active, social facility it is today.
Celebrate and recognize those volunteers in this
Community during National Volunteer Week:
April 10 to April 16, 2016.
What a night of dancing!
Between DJ Ron's great dance selections and
Irene's baking, the $5 Dance last Saturday was
one to remember. The dancing began at 7:05pm
and stopped for seven exchange draws at 9pm,
and then dancing continued until 11pm. The
evening was over too soon. Lots of laughter,
lots of fun moves and grooves, and lots of new
friends were made. Let's hope there will be
another, and another, and another.
Thank you to Irene, Ron, Rosemarie and
Jo-anne for organizing the $5 Dance.

GREENBRIAR RESIDENTIAL SERVICING ORGANIZATION
NEWSLETTER APRIL 2016
WATER CONSERVATION
Effective May 1 through September 30
As is the practice in most communities, GreenBriar will implement
water conservation measures. The following applies:
Even numbered houses may water on even number days
between the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.
Odd numbered houses may water on odd number days between
the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.
st
th
PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT EACH UNIT IS PERMITTED THE USE
OF NORMAL WATER CONSUMPTION FOR A SINGLE FAMILY
RESIDENTIAL PURPOSE. UNAUTHORIZED BUSINESSES THAT
OPERATE OUT OF UNITS IN THE COMMUNITY AND UTILIZE
EXCESSIVE WATER SHOULD BE REPORTED AS IT INCREASES COSTS
FOR EVERYONE.
POTABLE WATER
Our water treatment plant consists of a water reservoir that is
supplied by a series of deep drilled wells on site. The water is treated
in our plant with liquid chlorine for disinfection. No other chemicals
are used to treat the water.
Deep drilled wells are a safe source of drinking water. They go down
very deep through different layers of clay and sand to their final
positioning in the sand bed aquifer. As with most deep drilled wells
in Ontario, the presence of iron exists in the water. The iron mineral
property creates an iron deposit in the pipes as it settles out. This is
an aesthetic nuisance item that may occur in areas of low usage as
the mineral settles out in the pipes.
If iron is noticed, you may see a brownish reddish tainted
appearance. Iron likes to settle out in toilet tanks, causing rings in
the toilet bowl(s), as well as hot water tanks. “Only” when and if you
see iron, go to the laundry tub in your house, remove any aeration
screen that may exist, and simply run the water until it comes clear.
Routine yearly flushing does occur in the distribution system to
manage the iron build up. No other equipment is installed to
remove iron. Preventative maintenance is performed on the fire
hydrants during the flushing process as required. This usually occurs
in the spring. The distribution system was swabbed (scrubbed) in
2014 with large sponges to help remove additional iron deposits.
This typically occurs once every five years. Ample notice of these
flushings are given through your Property Management Company.
SERVICING REPAIRS
Improper use of the water and sewage services causes unnecessary
increased costs in repairs and maintenance. Storm drains, catch
basins, irrigation control boxes and other water apparatus’ are not
to be used for any purpose other than those for which they are
40 April 2016
constructed. Residues, sweeping, debris, refuse, garbage, rags, ashes
or other substances cause blockages in the systems that are costly
for everyone. In the units this includes construction debris washed
down sinks, such as grout, etc., as well as the use of residential
garbage grinding/disposal units (garburators) which are
strictly prohibited.
Persons found or reported to be misusing the systems, will be
charged back directly for any of the costs associated with the repair.
RENOVATIONS
Please keep in mind that all renovations that are conducted in your
unit, which are not limited to those that affect your connection
with the private servicing system, are required by the Town of New
Tecumseth to have a building permit. Any renovations done without
the required permits may not only result in fines from the town but
also charges for any damages that result in improper connection or
adjustments to the private services.
PARKING
We kindly request for vehicles to be parked either in your garage
or on your driveway as most roads within the community are wide
enough to accommodate one lane of traffic in each direction.
Parking on the road may impede the access of emergency vehicles
as well as create safety concerns for pedestrians. Please be mindful
that there are no sidewalks in our community. Not only is this a
servicing organization policy, it is illegal to block a fire route or
emergency services route.
Should you require temporary overnight parking, please contact the
GreenBriar Community Centre at 705-435-2345.
THE NOTTAWASAGA RESORT IS PRIVATE PROPERTY AND PARKING
WITHIN THEIR LOTS IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED WITHOUT THE PRIOR
APPROVAL OF THE NOTTAWASAGA RESORT.
RULES OF THE ROAD
Speeding and failing to obeying STOP signs continues to be a major
concern in GreenBriar. We ask that all drivers using the roads within
this community obey the posted traffic signs. Although we are a
private community, the Highway Traffic Act does apply and driving
infractions carry the same legal weight as on other roadways. More
importantly we ask you be considerate of these rules as they impact
the safety of pedestrians and your neighbours.
SERVICING CONCERNS
All servicing concerns, including streetlights, mailboxes etc.,
should be directed to GRSO through your Property
Management Office.

Watering is permitted only in areas not serviced by the irrigation

– this is your responsibility during the times noted above. Potable
water is not to be wasted on your lawns. Please note that if drought
conditions are experienced, irrigation staff may implement water
conservation practices.
The operation of the irrigation system is the responsibility of our
irrigation staff. Concerns regarding the irrigation system are to be
communicated to BHRSO via your Property Management Office.
Advanced permission must be obtained from BHRSO for any exterior
changes that involve digging as locates of the irrigation lines and

► The Celebration of Life for my wife,
Linda Willard, was a resounding success!
The attendance was a wonderful tribute to a
great lady who connected in some manner
with virtually everyone she met. It was a
great comfort to myself and my family to see
so many people who cared for our wife and
mother. Thank you to all who came and to
those who were away and sent notes and cards
expressing their condolences. A special thank
you to Carol Kennedy and Bev Hughes, and
their many volunteers, for organizing and
coordinating the event without a hitch. It is
indeed a blessing to live in the Briars.
