Follow your veterinary surgeon’s instructions about when and how to use the shampoo. If you are not sure about anything, ask your veterinary surgeon. HOW TO SHAMPOO YOUR DOG 1 2 Thoroughly wet the coat and skin surface with clean water. If using a sponge, make sure that the water reaches the surface of the skin. Apply the Malaseb shampoo at several points on the neck and along the back. Gently and progressively massage it into the coat and skin all over the dog, using enough shampoo to raise a good lather (adding water where necessary). Take care around the eyes, nose and mouth. 5 Leave Malaseb on the coat and skin for at least ten minutes, before thoroughly rinsing with clean water. Use large amounts of clean, lukewarm water. MALASEB MUST REACH THE SURFACE OF THE SKIN TO BE EFFECTIVE, SO IT IS IMPORTANT TO MASSAGE THE SHAMPOO INTO THE SKIN. 3 4 Work in around the head/neck and underneath, followed by the front and back of the legs. Shampoo the feet, using a sponge or cotton wool to get between the toes. Also use a sponge or cotton wool for the ear flaps and under the tail. Work well into the skin, as this harbours the organisms that cause the infection. Pay close attention to the ear flaps, lip folds and worst affected areas. Ensure that you do not put the shampoo down the ears. Use neat shampoo, applied with a damp sponge or cotton wool, on these areas. 6 Allow the dog to shake itself and then dry with a hand towel. Do not leave the dog in the cold when it is wet. Comb through long-haired dogs, being careful with affected areas. Do not use a hairdryer.
