On the heels of the overwhelmingly
successful 2009 convention, Drumbeats,
the Dallas Safari Club is poised to present
its 2010 Convention and Sporting Expo,
First Light.
The venue for this year’s convention has
changed to the Dallas Convention Center,
and the event will run Jan. 7-10. This year’s
show will have more than 1,000 exhibits
and is expected to draw more than 24,000
people.
The show is produced by the incredible DSC staff and a volunteer corps
affectionately known as the “DSC 100,”
which includes more than 500 individuals
who give 100 percent to DSC. Along with
DSC Executive Director Ben Carter, this
group is responsible for the Texas charm
and southern hospitality that convention exhibitors and attendees have come
to expect from the most efficiently run
convention in the industry.
DSC continues its partnership this year

Go farther, with confidence in Medjet
U.S. company forms a lifeline
between its members, help
and safety back at home
U
Uber-hunter Craig Boddington is not afraid to
follow his passion to the very ends of the earth. The
host of the Outdoor Channel’s “Tracks Across Africa”
and author of more than 20 books on hunting and
shooting, Boddington has been on 75 African safaris.
Game the outdoor writer has hunted includes Africa’s
Big Five, the most dangerous of animals. And, for the
last several years, Medjet has had his back.
“I am not afraid of the places I go to follow my
passion for hunting or the unpredictable paths that
take me there,” says Boddington. “I am not afraid of
what I am hunting, what might be hunting me, or
whatever lies in between. I travel with peace of mind
because I know Medjet will be there if I ever need
them.”
Boddington, who has been a Medjet member for
more than five years, is the new spokesman for the
premier medical evacuation and repatriation membership program for travelers.
“As a widely recognized outdoorsman and unarguably one of this generation’s most accomplished
hunting experts, Craig will lend tremendous insight,
visibility and credence to our company and services,”
says Roy Berger, Medjet president and CEO. “We are
delighted to have someone of Craig’s caliber and
reputation in the hunting community to represent
Medjet.”
Established in 1991, Birmingham, Ala.-based Medjet
is a worldwide medical evacuation and emergency
consultation service available 24 hours a day, seven
days a week. Should members become ill or injured
while traveling (no matter what corner of the world
they find themselves in), company representatives
will establish communication with family and the
local attending medical provider to evaluate and
begin monitoring the member’s condition. For those
requiring inpatient hospitalization, Medjet will initiate
medical evacuation and make all the arrangements
with the medical personnel at the member’s chosen
hospital for a smooth bed-to-bed transition. Medjet
affiliates use state-of-the-art aircraft that have all necessary life-saving equipment onboard.

— Craig Boddington
“We can’t always prepare for emergencies when
traveling; however, Medjet offers peace of mind for
those who need it,” says Berger.
Without Medjet, international transports to a
capable medical facility could exceed $100,000.
Domestic medical evacuation services normally
average $25,000.
With Medjet’s pre-paid annual membership, its
benefits have no monetary limit. Annual membership
dues are $250 for an individual and $385 for a family,
and short-term memberships start at $95. Domesticonly annual membership costs $175 for an individual
and $305 for a family.
For Boddington, who is willing to travel to virtually
any location to pursue his passion for hunting, having
Medjet gives him one fewer thing to worry about so he
can keep his mind on the hunt.
“My passion takes me to the ends of the earth.
I’m not sure where you go, but make sure you have
Medjet,” he says. “I wouldn’t travel without it.”

Titan UTV’s Explorer electric vehicle has a range of 45 miles per charge and
four front-facing bucket seats for keeping riders comfortable.
Powerful, comfortable, mobile — electric
I
Innovation is what drives Shane
Wilson’s business, Titan UTV.
The president of the Hutto-based
company is part of the emerging
electric vehicle industry. An electrical engineer and avid bow hunter,
Wilson welcomes the challenge of
building a better vehicle by pushing
innovative design rather than relying
on what’s out there.
He says most electric 4x4 builders
have tended to take the ubiquitous
golf cart model and modify it for
hunters. What Titan has done is to
engineer its vehicles from the ground
up — beginning with its tubular
frame and undercarriage — by using
off-road racing technology. Others
followed this design in 2009.
His vehicles are designed to meet
8
Titan UTV rethinks the electric vehicle from batteries to bucket seats
the needs of hunters who want that
extra power to tromp through fields,
mud and brush.
His popular Titan Scout 4x4
Electric Vehicle, for example, is a
quiet, powerful vehicle that offers
such features as four-wheel independent suspension, an independent
coil over shock system, four-wheel
hydraulic disc brakes, dual controllers and rack and pinion steering.
Its high-output dual motors and
controllers generate Best in Class
horsepower (up to 54 hp). Speaking
of first to market with innovation,
the Scout Series will have an optional
dual motor-dual controller AC drive
system. This offers another maintenance-free solution for customers.
“AC is the way of the future for
electric vehicles, and we wanted to
be the first to offer this,” Wilson said.
Since his company began making
the vehicles three years ago, it has
proven to be popular among hunters.
So popular that Titan will change its
name to Titan EV (Electric Vehicle)
in 2010 to better reflect the diversification of its product portfolio.
As of 2010, the company will
offer six different models, including
the new Explorer Series unveiled
recently.
“I think the Explorer will be our
best-selling vehicle,” Wilson said.
The new Explorer LSV is the
first electric vehicle that offers a
four-speed transmission. What the
manual transmission will do, Wilson
said, is offer better maneuverability
on rough off-road terrain.
The LSV has plenty of torque and
power. And it’s a spacious buggy with
four bucket seats, all of which face
forward. Plus, it has a rear bed for
storage. The Explorer LSV, which can
travel about 45 miles per charge in
smooth driving conditions, sells for
$14,800, fully-loaded.
The Explorer LSV is available in
two-wheel drive, with the release of
a four-wheel drive model planned for
August 2010.
“But don’t let the two-wheel
drive discourage you,” Wilson said.
“This vehicle has more torque and
horsepower than any other on the
market.”
Titan also offers an optional solar
panel that can be mounted on the
Dallas Safari Club 2010 Convention & Sporting Expo
electric UTV to extend the driving
time up to 20 percent per day.
And, because electric vehicles tend
to be all about the battery, Wilson
will have AGM batteries in all his
2010 vehicles. He is also looking into
lithium ion battery technology in his
search for more efficient batteries.

SHE becomes an
apparel sensation
T
Women’s clothes maker explodes onto sportswear scene
Texas-based SHE Outdoor Apparel has
expanded from its original SHE Safari Collection
to a multifaceted company providing women
with fashionable, form-fitting, high quality,
outdoor clothing in several versatile collections.
In its first five years, SHE has grown from product
placement in 17 stores, to nearly 400 nationwide.
Major retailers, including Cabela’s, Bass Pro Shops,
L.L. Bean, Gander Mountain and Sportsman’s
Warehouse now carry SHE Outdoor Apparel.
SHE is also the title sponsor of the highly rated
“SHE’s Beyond the Lodge,” airing 52 weeks on the
Outdoor Channel (www.beyondthelodge.com).
“We have experienced unprecedented growth
in a relatively short period of time and want to
express our gratitude to all those who have helped
us achieve our goals,” said Pam Zaitz, president.
“The future is very bright for SHE, as more and
more women are introduced to the shooting and
hunting sports. We are exploring new venues
with the SHE Adventure Collection and look
forward to providing women with exciting new
choices in outdoor-wear.”
Expanded collections include SHE Style, SHE
Upland, SHE Camo, SHE Shooting and the newly
introduced SHE Adventure Collection. This
beautifully designed, colorful line is suitable for
her fishing trip or casual vacation. Long, short
and sleeveless shirts in white, blue, aqua and
pink-camo accompany pants, shorts, skorts and
convertible pants in stone and sand colors with
rip-stop fabric. The SHE windbreaker is available in sand color and wind-stop fabric. The SHE
Adventure Collection features an SPF 30 rating
and comes with the company’s embroidered
signature “S.”
SHE’s team of professional outdoorswomen
ensure that every design is field-proven. The
designers at SHE work to incorporate the pros’
suggestions into their unique styles, thereby
providing consumers with the very best products
in fashionable, functional garments.
Zaitz incorporated her own experiences and
10
advice from professional hunters Kandi Kisky
(Whitetail Freaks TV and North American
Whitetail TV) and Vicki Cianciarulo (The Choice
TV and Archers Choice TV) and outdoor writer
and marketing consultant Brenda Potts (SHE’s
Beyond the Lodge TV) to create the SHE C4
System, the most revolutionary cold-weather
apparel ever produced for women.
“By working with this team of professional
outdoorswomen, we were able to incorporate
cutting edge ideas into an entire cold-weather
system that is waterproof, windproof, warm
and quiet,” explained Zaitz. “The jacket, pants,
vest and accessories combine 440-gram fleece,
Thinsulate and Arctic Shield with body-mapping
technology in a stylish less-bulky design that
keeps you warm and withstands rugged conditions. We added a patent-pending zipper
attachment feature unlike any other on the
market that enables you to attach the pants to the
vest, creating heat-retaining bibs. The two can
be detached and re-attached easily in the field.
The pants and vest can also be worn separately if
desired.”
In 2010, SHE will introduce the C2 System,
a lighter version of C4 with the same high
standards of performance. Also new for 2010 is the
HOTMOCS line, providing a superior, external,
over-the-boot heating system guaranteed to keep
your feet warm.
Whether she is hunting in frigid conditions,
fishing in the tropics, shooting competitively, on
safari in Africa or vacationing in exotic locales,
the designers at SHE Outdoor Apparel remind you
that Her Adventure Begins Here. For more information, visit www.shesafari.com or call

Lazzeroni rifles are powerful, reliable
Company brings advances
in ammunition, firearms
to big-game hunting
I
It was a hand-drawn sketch of a cartridge
that sparked the birth of the Lazzeroni Arms
Company.
In 1994, John James Lazzeroni drew a design
of what is now the Lazzeroni proprietary
cartridge on a white piece of paper. Based on
that sketch, he had a run of brass cases made
to his specifications. He liked what he saw and
shortly after started his Tucson, Ariz., arms
company to produce his long magnum proprietary cartridges.
A year later, Lazzeroni, who had been
building custom rifles based upon Weatherby
actions since 1988, introduced the Lazzeroni
2000 series bolt-action hunting rifles to handle
his new lineup of Lazzeroni calibers.
Today, Lazzeroni makes long magnum
cartridges, short magnum cartridges, LazerHead
copper bullets and, of course, continues to
expand his premium hunting rifle line.
“The goal of Lazzeroni has always been to
build the finest bolt-action hunting rifles in the
world, shooting the fastest cartridges available
in their respective calibers,” says Lazzeroni.
“Our product lineup today has evolved into
something very special, something that comes
along only once in a generation.”
One product that has attracted a lot of attention in the hunting community is the Lazzeroni
Global Hunter rifle, which is available in six
models.
Based on Lazzeroni’s standard long-action
rifle (the L2000ST), the Global Hunter
mountain rifle features a precision CNCmachined 17R stainless steel receiver, a stainless
steel, match-grade button-barrel and a supercrisp Jewel competition trigger. The metalwork
is finished with electroless nickel to withstand
harsh weather. A diamond-fluted bolt shaft
replaces the previous helical fluting, and the
firing pin is now made out of titanium to reduce
weight and firing pin lock time.
What hunters really appreciate is that
12
John Lazzeroni harvested his moose in Canada. He used his personal Lazzeroni Rifle chambered in the 7.82 (.308) Warbird.
this gun weighs about 2 pounds less than its
predecessor. The short-magnum model (the
L2005SLT), for example, weights 6.1 pounds.
The long-magnum (the L2005LLT) comes in
at slightly more than 7 pounds. Both have a
new slim line graphite-composite stock and
precision-machined aluminum-alloy floorplate/
trigger guard assembly.
Whatever the model, these guns — which
start at $4,500 — are superbly crafted firearms
that are wicked accurate. For an idea of what to
expect from his maximum velocity ammunition, go to www.lazzeroni.com and scan the
ballistics table under the appropriate cartridge.
Lazzeroni has a reputation in the industry for
being a perfectionist — not a bad quality for a
gunmaker to possess.
Perhaps the strongest compliment that can
be paid to a manufacturer with Lazzeroni’s
exacting standards came from hunter and
author Craig Boddington in a 2005 article
he wrote for Rifle Shooter magazine: “John
Lazzeroni’s products do exactly what he says
they will do ... . There is no blue sky — none
— in his published velocity figures for his
cartridges.
Dallas Safari Club 2010 Convention & Sporting Expo
“And, I’ve never had a problem getting the
accuracy out of his rifle that he has stated I
should.”

Big game, big variety in New Zealand
Many species of exotic
game available at huge
southern Pacific estate
N
New Zealand’s Glencree Hunting Estate,
nestled near the coastal town of Kaikoura where
mountains meet the sea, boasts drop-deadgorgeous views. But for clients of South Pacific
Safaris New Zealand, that is just a fringe benefit.
The real lure is the opportunity to bag a worldclass exotic trophy.
Hunters will find red stag, wapiti (elk), ram,
wild boar, feral goat and fallow buck on the
4,000-acre hunting estate as well as Tahr and
chamois on a nearby 100,000-acre hunting
concession. Other small game such as ducks,
rabbits, hares and possums are also abundant.
Visitors to this hunters’ paradise will fly into
Auckland, where they will clear customs, before
hopping over to Christchurch. Owners Mike
and Deborah Wilks recommend that guests
arrive one to two days prior to their hunt to
acclimate.
Visitors will stay either at Glencree Lodge’s
luxurious accommodations or in newly built
private hunting chalets, which offer comfortable private bathrooms with heated floors
and spacious walk-in showers. They will enjoy
traditional New Zealand cuisine, which emphasizes fresh, wholesome food, paired with superb
regional wines. Wild game and fresh fish and
lobster are regularly on the menu.
Mike and Deborah run this family business
with the help of their daughter and son-in-law,
Katie and John Turner.
As a lifelong hunter and the main professional guide, Mike offers his expertise to clients
who want to hunt the following game:
Red stag and wapiti: Hunted from late
February through August, the red stags on the
Glencree estate are known for huge mass, points
and width. The rut for stags, elk and fallow buck
is around March and April. Wild boar, ram and
goat are hunted all season.
Tahr and chamois: Hunted April through
September, these species rut between about May

and early July. This is when they are in their
full winter coats. Tahr and chamois are hunted
either on foot or by using the helicopter to
access the hunting area on their 100,000-acre
concession on the South Island’s Southern Alps.
Mike recommends that clients who want to
hunt on foot out of tent camps budget at least
five days for their excursion.
Ducks: The season for paradise ducks and
Canada geese is from Feb. 20 to March 31
(Limit of 25 on ducks; no limit on geese). The
season for mallard, grey, and paradise ducks
as well as black swan and pheasant is from the
first Saturday in May to the last Sunday in July.
(Limit of 50 on a mixed bag of ducks and five
swans.)
Prices for the hunts will vary depending on
length of stay and the trophy sought. For a
quote on a hunt, contact Mike or Deborah at

Tried and true M77 receives updates
Ruger looks to future with
new online presence
F
For Sturm, Ruger & Company, Inc., which
has been named Firearms Manufacturer of the
Year for the third year in a row by the National
Association of Sporting Goods Wholesalers, it is
all about quality products and quality service.
“We appreciate this recognition of our efforts
to help distributors, retailers and ultimately
the consumer, receive high-quality products
and support from Ruger,” said Chris Killoy, the
company’s vice president of sales and marketing.
Recently, the Connecticut-based company
redesigned its Web site. Visitors to www.ruger.
com will it find it even easier to navigate the
product section to find information on the
company’s firearms and ammunition.
Big-game hunters might want to log on and
take a look at Ruger’s new left-handed model
of the popular M77 Hawkeye rifle chambered
in .300 and .338 Ruger Compact Magnum
cartridges.
The new model will be available the first
quarter of 2010. No compromises have been
made to the reliability and ease of operation of
this model. The left-handed rifles feature the
ejection port, extractor, bolt handle and threeposition manual safety all on the left side of the
rifle. Other features include the Mauser-type
controlled feeding and powerful claw extractor, hammer-forged steel barrels and free Ruger
16
patented scope rings. The design of the patented
steel floorplate, which bears the distinctive
Ruger logo, provides easy unloading and eliminates accidental “dumping” of ammunition.
The left-handed model will sell for about
$900.
The centerfire bolt-action M77 Hawkeye rifle
is described by Ruger as a rifle that delivers a
new level of performance and value. The firearm
places emphasis on features hunters appreciate,
such as enhanced ergonomics, a smooth trigger
pull, and a steel floor plate latch for easy unloading. It also features a red rubber recoil pad that
provides more effective recoil reduction. The
action and barrel have a matte blued finish.
These bolt-action rifles feature a shorter stock
than the standard M77 Hawkeye stock. Its slim
American walnut stock offers wraparound cut
checkering on the forearm and more rounded
contours on the bottom of the stock and top of
the pistol grips.
Its RCM cartridges, developed in conjunction
with Hornady Manufacturing Co., are extreme
cartridges for extreme hunting situations. Based
on the beltless .375 Ruger, the .300 and .338
RCMs are engineered to offer .300 and .338
Win. Magnum performance in a more compact
package. The .300 RCM is available in 150-grain
GMX and 150-, 165- and 180-grain SST offerings.
Muzzle velocities for the .300 RCM SST loadings
are 3,170 fps, 3,030 fps and 2,900 fps, respectively — from a 20-inch factory barrel. The .338
RCM is available in the newly developed 200grain SST, and 225-grain SST offerings. Velocities

During the hunting season from
July 1 to Dec. 31, hunters will have
access to:
• Six of Africa’s Dangerous Seven:
lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant, hippo
and crocodile.
• Specialty animals such as gerenuk,
lesser kudu, fringe-eared oryx, Robert’s
gazelle, Roosevelt’s sable, Nyasa wildebeest, suni and red duiker.
• Typical plains game including
zebra, impala, eland, roan and hartebeest.

Working from her office in Athens,
Martin advises her clients on anything
they need to know to have their best
possible African hunting experience. Once the plane sets down at
its destination, guests are in the very
capable hands of the TWC staff.
During these traditional classic safaris,
guests will benefit from the services
of experienced professional hunters
and staff who facilitate a successful big-game hunt. Guests will also
enjoy luxury tented camps (think fine
linens, bathrobes and daily laundry
service); gourmet meals; a fleet of 4x4
vehicles (some of which are fourdoor air-conditioned cruisers); and
premium-quality hunting equipment.
“We provide luxury, first-class
safaris,” says Martin. “You don’t lift a
finger except to pull the trigger.”
The company also offers classic East
African wing-shooting safaris in its
Maasailand concession, Lake Natron
South. Hunters can shoot sand grouse,
francolin, spurfowl, guinea fowl, quail
and doves. The bird hunts can be book
as a separate adventure or added to a
big game safari.
Photo adventures are offered yearround, with a popular time being

the various northern national parks
such as Serengeti and the famous

combined with a stay in TWC’s Lake
Natron luxury tented camps, where
visitors will have an abundance of
wildlife viewing and exploration
opportunities by vehicle, horseback
or on foot. They also can visit a local
Maasai village.
“Photo safari guests have great
success in getting close to the animals
because the game hasn’t learned to be
spooked by vehicles,” says Martin. “We
do not allow hunting from vehicles in
any of our areas. Hunting clients stalk
the animals on foot in the classic safari
fashion.”
Martin says they can accommodate
guests ranging from a single client to
large groups. All camps are exclusive
use for each safari group. Whether you
have been to Africa a dozen times or
only in your dreams, you have yet to
experience a safari like this one!

Thormahlen & Cochran Safaris is a dynamic
African trophy hunting safari operation with
free-range hunting concessions in South Africa
and Namibia for plains game and dangerous
game. We also hunt big game such as elephant

elephant in Botswana was taken by our client
Steve Hopkins in 2009.
The Mozambique concession offers buffalo,
elephant, leopard and a variety of plains game.
T&C Namibia — legally registered — operates
on huge private properties as well as government and communal conservancies.
All plains game and special trophies like
Hartmann zebra, black face impala, and Damara
DIK-DIk are hunted on six concessions, of which
two (116,000 acres and 38,000 acres respectively)
are within one hour from the Namibian capital
city, Windhoek, and its airport. Other concessions include west of Windhoek in the Namib

Dangerous game is hunted mostly in the
northwestern part of Namibia. We specialize in
hunting big leopard — with hounds, hunting
over bait or in combination. Excellent cheetah
is hunted in Central Namibia. We are proud of
our high success rate achieved. An exclusive
free-range black rhino hunt (subspecies bicornis
bicornis) was conducted by our client David
Reinke in 2009.
T&C Safaris has two black rhino bulls available

Fast, rugged illumination for hunters worldwide
Top-notch system
for gathering light
works for big game
W
We have all been there. You’ve
hunted hard for days on end, and now
you’re down to the fading light of the
last afternoon, and the trophy of a
lifetime has finally presented itself.
It’s now or never ... will you be able to
make the shot?
The Trijicon AccuPoint 1-4X24
will eliminate that question forever.
Never again will you pass on the shot
simply because you could not see your
aiming point! Hunters worldwide
depend on Trijicon’s self-illuminating
sighting systems to provide them with
brilliant aiming solutions — regardless
of lighting conditions. Whether it’s
Cape buffalo in the thick African bush,
brown bear in Alaska or monster whitetails in the big woods of Saskatchewan,
the AccuPoint 1-4X24 will provide
you with the confidence and dependability required for taking the shot of a
lifetime.
Trijicon optics combine the unique
illumination characteristics of Tritium
with the light-gathering capabilities
of advanced fiber optics to provide a
dual illuminated reticle that delivers
maximum visibility and battery-free
dependability when the moment of
truth arrives.
Quite possibly the most effective big
game scope available, the AccuPoint
1-4X24 with new German #4 reticle
delivers lightning-fast target acquisition and precise aiming under a
variety of conditions. Of course, the
AccuPoint 1-4X24 continues to offer
the original triangle reticle, which has
the additional benefit of the Bindon
Aiming Concept, allowing you to keep
both eyes open while tracking, taking
aim and shooting.
22
All models in the AccuPoint Series
feature Trijicon’s Manual Brightness
Adjustment Override, which allows
you to control the light output of the
fiber optics during daylight. AccuPoint
riflescopes include other advanced
elements like multi-layer coated lenses
for superior light transmission with
no distortion, quick-focus eyepiece,
long eye relief and precise windage and
elevation adjustments.
The AccuPoint’s rugged construction protects it from the toughest
elements. It’s crafted from aircraftquality, hard-anodized aluminum with
a tube that’s nitrogen-filled to prevent
corrosion and eliminate fogging. A
solid black-matte finish eliminates
glare and light reflection, which could
spook game. And, it’s water resistant to
depths of 10 feet, so the AccuPoint is
able to handle even the most challenging hunting conditions.
In addition to the AccuPoint series,
Trijicon offers a complete array of
self-illuminating optics that are specifi-

Exotic animals, familiar location at Y.O.
History runs deep at
‘America’s Original
Game Ranch’ in Texas
T
The Y.O. Ranch has been a graceful
presence in the heart of Hill Country
for well over a century. Since Capt.
Charles Schreiner founded the ranch
in the late 1880s, six generations of
Schreiners have tended this beautiful
and rugged land.
The ranch, located 40 miles west
of Kerrville, has thrived during good
times and has survived the hard
times.
It was during one of the not-sogood times that the canny widow
Myrtle Schreiner, who took the
ranch’s reins in 1933, started leasing
some of her lands to hunters. In
the years since, several other Texas
ranchers have followed suit, but the
widow gave the Y.O. a healthy head
start in building an international
reputation as a superior hunting
ranch.
When her son Charles Schreiner III
took over in the 1950s, he built up a
herd of Longhorns, which were then
facing extinction, and introduced
exotic species of wildlife to the rolling
hills of the Y.O. During the 1980s,
Louie Schreiner forged the ranch’s
reputation as “America’s Original
Game Ranch.”
Today, 19 members of the
Schreiners, led by managing partner
Charles Schreiner IV, run the ranch.
They are credited for setting new
standards in outdoor adventure and
hospitality.
The Y.O., a working ranch
spanning 40,000 acres, is home to
more than 1,000 Longhorns, the
rangy cattle breed that was the
foundation of the empire the first
Schreiner built. The 60-square- mile
26
ranch also is the adopted home of
more than 10,000 animals, including
50 species of such exotics as antelope,
impala, blackbuck, waterbuck, Oryx,
giraffe and ostrich.
More than 20 of those exotic
species originally found in North
Africa, China and Europe can be
hunted, as can trophy native wildlife.
The Hill Country’s Edwards Plateau
is home to some of the largest
white-tailed deer herds and Rio
Grande turkey populations. It is not
uncommon to see 50 to 100 bucks in
a single day.
It is the availability of these trophy
animals coupled with the Schreiner
hospitality that attracts big game
hunters from across the U.S. and from
all over the world. The ranch also
attracts Texans who want to hunt
exotic species without leaving the
comfort of their home state.
Hunters will have access to experienced guides who will help them
enjoy a challenging fair-chase hunt
in a politically stable environment.
During their visit, they will stay in
an 1880s-style log cabin and enjoy
Hill Country cooking at the Y.O.
Chuckwagon.
Lodging and meal fees are $160 per
day, with the guide fees running $300
per day plus gratuity. The trophy fees
differ, depending on the species being
hunted. For a listing of trophy fees,

Tough and dependable — anywhere
HuntVe takes hunters into the woods
silently, smoothly and far from home
T
The electric UTV continues to
grow in popularity. For hunters, it’s
a natural choice. The UTVs will take
them off road to areas that a vehicle
can’t reach. It’s silent. And, because
it doesn’t run on fuel, there are no
strong emissions to spook game.
“You can go completely
undetected into the woods,” says
Ben King, president and founder of
Martex Global Enterprises.
The company manufactures the
made-in-the-U.S.A. all-electric
HuntVe UTV line. Currently, the
HuntVe is available in 12 states.
“We have designed it to be the
premier vehicle in the market,” says
King.
Former Dallas Cowboy and avid
hunter Jay Novacek has personally
endorsed the HuntVe, as have David
Hale and Harold Knight of Knight
and Hale fame.
King credits improvements in
technology over the last few years
for the growth in this segment of the
UTV market.
His HuntVe 4x4 Game Changer,
for example, can run 20 miles on
a single charge in off-road conditions and about 30 miles on smooth
terrain. The Game Changer, in fact,
offered with a premium package of
upgrades has proven to be a bestseller. Selling for $13,999, it comes
equipped with a gun rack, 25-inch
tires, 3-1 foldout rear seat, and a
front basket with a 200-pound
capacity.
This model also boasts 1,100 amps
of power, dual auto-locking differentials, extreme-duty self-adjusting
rack and pinion steering, plus more.
The HuntVe also comes in a 4x4
and a 2x4 model. The company
28
describes the HuntVe Electric 4x4
vehicle as “undeniably the toughest
all-electric four-wheel-drive vehicle
on the market to date.”
The HuntVe is a rugged, wellconstructed vehicle that can handle
any type of terrain that hunters
might have to traverse to follow their
game.
“These vehicles can climb,” says
King.
And, with a four-wheel hydraulic
brake, they allow you to get down
safely. The self-adjusting rack and
pinion steering combined with
unprecedented turning radius also
allows hunters to easily maneuver
around in the smallest of areas in this
comfortable vehicle.
The company continues to explore
ways to enhance the capabilities of
their HuntVe line. Recently, Martex
unveiled a new solar-powered
charging system that is designed to
add up to 30 percent to the drive
time of the HuntVe.
“It is a significant advancement
in solar technology that we are now
able to bring to our customers,” says
Rick Roe, vice president of operations.
Made of durable tempered glass,
the solar panels are as tough as an
automobile’s windshield. Life expectancy of the panels is designed to
match the life of the vehicle.
