The City of Haines City Leisure Services Department is
dedicated to creating a better community through people, parks,

Little Miss Sweetheart contestants must range from ages 5-10. There will
be two categories (5-7 and 8-10) each contestant will be judged based on

competition sanctioned by the Florida Barbeque

are open to everyone. The Kid’s Q Competition is
for children ages 6-10 and 11-15. Live
entertainment from local bands will take the
stage as you shop at the craft and food vendor
booths. All proceeds will benefit the July 4th celebration,

for the Ironman 70.3
Florida triathlon on Sunday,
May 19, 2013. This event includes a 1.2-mile fresh water
lake swim in Lake Eva, a 56-mile
bike course through rural Polk
County, and a 13.1-mile run course around Lake Eva. For
information on how to register to compete in the Ironman70.3
triathlon or to volunteer, please visit www.ironmanhainescity.com.
The IronKids Florida race will take place on
Saturday, May 18, 2013. Kids ranging in age from
6-15 will take on a shortened version of the Ironman 70.3 Florida

Thunder on the Ridge Spectacular

Come check out our annual July 4th celebration where there will be
children’s activities, arts & crafts, food vendors, and entertainment
throughout the day from local artists. The final performance will be
from a national recording artist. For the finale, we give you the best
fireworks display in all of Polk County! Don’t miss this event!

Annual 5K Run/Walk here in Haines City. The Run will start and
finish at the Lake Eva Banquet Hall. Enjoy the scenic run around

Hall for our Wellness Expo and talk with local medical offices and
fitness facilities. Some testing will be available on site. This event is
free so come on out and join the strive to live healthy!
Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Parade & Unity Festival

The Haines City Northeast Revitalization Group invites
you to come celebrate the life and endeavors of Dr.
Martin Luther King, Jr. The parade will kick off at
10:00am from Lily Ave. Immediately following the
parade, join us on Cook Field for a time of fellowship
and fun at the Unity Festival. There will be food
vendors, motivational speakers, entertainment, and
games for the kids.

Practical Personal Protection & Concealed Carry Weapons Certification Course
Practical Personal Protection is a 3 hour class for anyone that is concerned for the personal security of themselves and their
loved ones. Join us as we learn new options for personal security the whole family may adopt and practice together! The
course includes: The philosophy and responsibility of personal security—The psychology of personal self defense—
Mastering the Art of Avoidance, Deterrence and De-escalation—Using “Honest Signaling” to communicate effectively
with “Unknown Contacts”—Self Defense: The privilege and the laws that govern it. Practical self defense techniques for
adults as well as teens.
Concealed Carry Weapons Certification is an additional 1 hour training class held at a range off-site and specifically for
students from the Practical Personal Protection class that will be applying for their CCW. Everything you’ll need to apply
for your CCW is provided—Courses facilitated by High Point Personal Security Training, LLC. All ages welcome,
although you must be 21 to apply for your CCW.

Our Nautilus Workout Facility features 17 different Nautilus machines, Schwinn
Airdyne and recumbent stationary bikes, a Paramount elliptical, sit-up benches,
treadmills, rowing machine, and a Matrix Workout machine. You can work out at
your own pace and even use the gymnasium for walking, running, basketball, and
volleyball during open gym hours. Fees are based on daily, monthly, or quarterly

Youth Indoor Soccer (Boys and Girls ages 4-12)
Indoor soccer is structured to provide every child the
opportunity to participate in the world’s most popular sport.
This is a fast paced sport that emphasizes learning and having
FUN! Young soccer enthusiast will experience soccer in a safe
and non-competitive environment. Registration runs April 1 May 13, 2013, or until full.
Youth Football:
Football is considered one of the most demanding and
rewarding of all youth league sports. Youth football helps to
shape participants’ relationship building skills and personal
values. Haines City is the proud home to two youth football
leagues: Haines City Rattlers and the North East Rattlers.

Coaches Wanted!
Youth Basketball (Boys and Girls ages 5-13)
Youth Basketball is the largest athletic activity offered by the
Haines City Parks & Recreation Department. Youth Basketball
leagues introduce basic basketball skills such as passing,
dribbling, and shooting. Major emphasis is placed on personal
values, team spirit, fair play, and sportsmanship. Competition is
low-key with emphasis on participation.
Registration will begin on September 30, 2013.
Make a difference in the life of a child and volunteer to coach.
The Haines City Youth Sports Leagues could not operate
without volunteer coaches! The coaching program is designed
to develop good players who have a positive image of
themselves, their teammates, coaches, game officials, and
opponents. All volunteers are required to pass a background
check. If you are interested please come to the Haines City
Community Center to fill out the paperwork…Come be a part
of our TEAM!
Miss Haines City Softball (Ages 5-16):
Miss Haines City Softball provides a supervised program of
competitive softball for girls in Haines City and
surrounding communities. Registration begins in January.

Haines City Little League Baseball (Ages 4-16):
Haines City Little League Baseball’s primary objective is to
implant firmly in the youth of the community the ideals of
good sportsmanship, honesty, loyalty, courage and respect
for authority, so that they may be well adjusted, stronger
and happier children and will grow to be decent, healthy

Bring your friends and teammates for a night of friendly adult
competition. Haines City Leisure Services offers two leagues:
Monday Night Competitive and Friday Night Recreational. Adult
Volleyball runs twice a year, in the spring and fall. Registration is by
team only. Individual player’s are welcome to fill out a Free Agent
form at the Community Center but are not guaranteed placement
on a team. Registration for spring begins January 2, 2013 and
registration for fall begins July 1, 2013.
Men’s full court basketball league runs on Thursday
evenings at Oakland Gymnasium. Registration is by
team only. Individual player’s are welcome to fill out a
Free Agent form at the Haines City Community Center
but are not guaranteed
placement on a team.
Max of 6 teams per
league. Registration
begins January 2, 2012.

Summer Camp Leaders – In – Training:
This program is for teens who wish to volunteer their time with the Haines City Summer Recreation Program
in exchange for community service hours. In order to be considered for one of our L.I.T. positions, you must: be 17
-18 years old, be completing service hours for school or civic group, have two letters of recommendation from
school advisors or civic leaders, and must be able to work 8 weeks during the summer.
Applications will be available starting April 1st at the Haines City Community Center.

Challenger Sports Soccer Camp
British Soccer Camps provide players of all ages and abilities with the rare opportunity to receive high level
soccer coaching from a team of international experts.
Each day includes individual foot skills, technical
drills, tactical practices, small-sided games, coached
scrimmages, and a daily tournament. Equally
important, the challenger coaching staff provides your
child with lessons in respect, responsibility, integrity,
sportsmanship and leadership. Camp programs
include a free ball and shirt and a free British Soccer
jersey for online registrations 45 days prior to camp!

NCA Cheer Camp
National Cheerleaders Association (NCA) Camp curriculum is based on core principles that ensure
cheerleaders learn the proper safety technique and develop a strong foundation. Check out the top notch
curriculum being taught a NCA Camps! We have programs to fit the needs of all teams. This camp is geared

Boys & Girls Baseball Camp
This camp will provide the ideal environment to improve athletic skills, develop friendships, and learn life
lessons in leadership, teamwork, and responsibility. This camp focuses on the primary skills of hitting and
fielding. Further emphasis is placed on proper technique and sportsmanship.
Tennis Camp
Come join a full week of tennis fun, sweat, and learning! Cost is
$75.00 for City residents and $100.00 for non-residents. To register

FACILITY RULES
1) NO denim shorts or pants & NO shorts with buttons or zippers.
Proper swim wear required.
2) NO coolers or outside food or drink will be permitted.
There is a concession stand on-site.
3) NO diapers allowed in pools.
Children that wear diapers MUST wear a swim diaper
ex. Huggies Little Swimmers. These may be purchased at the pool office for $3.00.
4) NO flotation devices.
This includes: water wings, inflatable floats and life vests, and life vests with clips or
buckles. ONLY life vests with zippers are allowed.
