The Queen of Hearts She made some tarts All on a Summer’s day. The Knave of Hearts He stole those tarts And took them quite away (The Knave of Hearts by Louise Saunders) 1 “A Night to Remember, Act I”, January 23, 2010 “A Night to Remember, Act III” Dinner and Auction in the Nave Saturday, November 23, 2013 6 p.m. Cocktails/Silent Auction 7 p.m. Dinner/Live Auction St. Mary’s-In-Tuxedo Episcopal Church Tuxedo Park, New York 2 November 23, 2013 Dear Friends, Welcome to our third “A Night to Remember.” The beauty and joy of this sacred space is enhanced by the presence of so many people. The memories of past “A Night to Remember” simply add to the excitement and anticipation. As we gather in this place, not only are we marking the present and helping to secure a future, we are also linking ourselves to the past. The past of the early church includes being designated as the community center. The church was the place where not only worship was experienced, but secular various events were held: town meetings, group gatherings and yes, even the “Farmer’s Market” of old, complete with animals and goods to sell and buy. In its building, the church meant to link all of life together. So it is, and has been, with St. Mary’s since its beginning in 1887 and this building being consecrated in 1888. Built for the community, St. Mary’s is to be the place of welcome and hospitality for all who come. It is an honor bestowed on St. Mary’s for over 125 years ago; it is an honor bestowed on all of us because we, each in our own way, are a part of St. Mary’s. Thank you for being present tonight. May you always find St. Mary’s a place of welcome and community. And now…let the night begin! Blessings, Betty+ So many people made this night possible AND wonderful…yet special thanks go to Chair of the Evening: Sara Cassis; Sara’s right hand person, Jean Marie Thompson; Chauncie and Paul Rodzianko for donation of superb Georgian wine; Sara and John Cassis for donation of the vodka and paddles; Toppers by Wilson Marquis tea lights; Tuxedo Liquor for even more wine provided; Lisa Favia for just about everything and anything that needed doing; Patte and Greg Stevens for numbering the paddles; Matthew Sperzel for being our Knave; Frank Favia for auctioneering; Calvin DeMond for seeing to the outdoor lights; Heather Bullard and her crew who makes everything look so easy; all our donors of our great auction items; and to all of you who are joining us tonight!
