MIR Annex G Appendix 4-4 Facility symbology
MIR – SEAWG – ANNEX G Appendix 4-2 Facility symbology mapping rules – MIL-STD-2525B 20090514 Edition 3.0.9 NOTE 1: Recommended behaviour when receiving an object which symbol is not known or implemented If the receiving system receives an object with no known corresponding symbol (either truly unknown or not implemented), the desired behaviour of the receiving system is to display the object using a generic symbol. Preferably the symbols specified for the domain value ‘Not otherwise specified’ should be used. NOTE 2: Recommended behaviour when creating an object which is not supported by the JC3IEDM If the national C2IS creates an object (e.g. a control feature), which is not supported by the JC3IEDM, the recommended behaviour is to map the unsupported value to a ‘Not otherwise specified’ object rather than not sending the object. NOTE 3: MIL-STD-2525B reference The tables below refer to MIL-STD-2525B. In the MTIR <VERSION 3.5> for MIP Block 3 only APP-6A is stated as a requirement, MIL-STD-2525B may be used as a reference. References to MIL-STD-2525B in this document are only included for two reasons. a) MIL-STD-2525B contains a better foundation for defining storage rules and presentation rules. If an APP-6A symbol has a corresponding MIL-STD-2525B symbol the rules found in MIL-STD-2525B are used. b) As an extra service to those nations that have implemented MIL-STD-2525B FACILITY-TYPEs: Domain Value of facility-type -category-code MIL-STD-2525B Hierarchy SYM-ID Symbol Airborne early warning ground facility AIRFIELD-TYPE Alternate decontamination facility See table AIRFIELD-TYPEs below. 2.X.3.4.8. 2 G*MPND A---****X Ammunition cache 1 of 45 MIR – SEAWG – ANNEX G Appendix 4-2 Facility symbology mapping rules – MIL-STD-2525B 20090514 Edition 3.0.9 Domain Value of facility-type -category-code MIL-STD-2525B Hierarchy SYM-ID Ammunition supply point 2.X.5.1.15 G*SPPAS .1 ---****X Ammunition transfer point 2.X.5.1.15 G*SPPAT .2 ---****X Symbol Anchorage Apartment building Apron Bank Barracks Basin Bath 1.X.3.1.3. 3.13 S*GPUSS L--***** Berm Berth Bivouac BRIDGE-TYPE See specific guidance in table BRIDGE-TYPEs below. In this section you will find how to build the outline of the symbol, the content of the symbol and how to add additional characteristics. When constructing a minefield symbol in this way it should be noted that all elements depend on only one geometry for a given minefield. The outline of a minefield symbol The outline of a minefield symbol is based on reporting-data-category-code and object-item-status-hostility-code. The mines depicted in the symbols of the table below all have an unspecified type and are displayed here just as a placeholder. The outline of the symbol is only shown as an example of a possible outline. In the case of a GEN_POLYAREA the area should be filled with mine symbols of the shown type the three mines in the examples below do by no means mean that there should be exactly three mine type symbols within each area outline. Additional characteristics of a minefield symbol The minefield-pattern-code and Reporting-data-absolute-timing-end-date/time used to set additional characteristics of a minefield symbol. The column minefield-pattern-code specifies if a minefield consists of or contains scaterable mines. The Reporting-data-absolute-timing-end-date and Reporting-data-absolute-timing-end-time give the self destruct DTG of the minefield. 42 of 45 MIR – SEAWG – ANNEX G Appendix 4-2 Facility symbology mapping rules – MIL-STD-2525B 20090514 Edition 3.0.9 Domain Additional storage rules/Presentation guidance Values of minefield-patterncode Regular minefield Not known The DTG field will contain the self destruct DTG that can be found in Reporting-data-absolute-timing-end-date and Reporting-dataabsolute-timing-end-time, If those are [NULL] the DTG field will not be displayed. Regular minefield, thickened with scattered mines +S is placed over the symbol to show reinforcement with scattered mines. The DTG field will contain the self destruct DTG that can be found in Reporting-data-absolute-timing-end-date and Reporting-dataabsolute-timing-end-time, If those are [NULL] the DTG field will not be displayed. Scattered S is placed over the symbol to show the minefield consists of scattered mines. The DTG field will contain the self destruct DTG that can be found in Reporting-data-absolute-timing-end-date and Reporting-dataabsolute-timing-end-time, If those are [NULL] the DTG field will not be displayed. 43 of 45 MIR – SEAWG – ANNEX G Appendix 4-2 Facility symbology mapping rules – MIL-STD-2525B 20090514 Edition 3.0.9 Minefield with gap It is a requirement that APP6-A symbols are supported. The ‘ANTITANK (AT) MINEFIELD WITH GAP’ (2.X.2.2.1.6.4) can be created by creating 2 (surface geometry) minefields with military-obstacle-type-code =‘Minefield, anti-tank’ and between these minefields an Obstacle Gap CONTROL-FEATURE (control-feature-type-code=’Obstacle gap’) This CONTROL-FEATURE should have a surface geometry.. Of course the same method would also work to create any other type of minefield with gap.
