As usual for this time of year we are beginning State Assessments and as our theme states we know our students “ Can do it”!!!!!! We certainly feel confident we have helped in the preparation with effective strategies, challenging cognitive educational experiences and encouragement; It’s all in their hands at this point. We also know that this time of year sometimes influence students to act as if the year is done, nine(9) weeks early. This is where we can use your full support and constant reminding at home. We want students to continue giving full effort through Graduation or the last day of school to ascertain success in all classes. We also want them to remain safe as the Spring Breakers are headed south for their time away from college, so we invited a presenter who is considered an expert on the reality of Distracted Drivers. The students had an opportunity to hear real stories of lives that were changed due to the negligence of others while driving. We ask that you reiterate this valuable lesson at home as well. Thanks to all that attended registration for next year; what an excellent way to demonstrate your concern for your student(s). If we can assist further in preparation for the upcoming year please feel free to contact our Guidance Department. Thanks again for being a supporter of Walton High School………………..It’s Great To Be A Walton Brave!!!!!!!!! This annual, statewide competition is sponsored by The Florida Law Related Education Association. This is only the second year Walton High School has had a team compete and they performed phenomenally. Competition was fierce this year and scores were the tightest they had been in a long time. Attorneys were on their game and witnesses were convincing. However, with a slight edge, powerhouse (and previous, multi-year winner) Tate High School won the overall competition. Hunter Bell tied with Tate’s attorney for Best Overall Attorney and was presented with a gavel at Thursday evening’s award ceremony. For the Defense on Wednesday, attorneys were Thomas Brannon, Matt Majors, and Hunter Bell. Witnesses for the Defense included Bryanna Muscella, Jacob Ray, and Nick Wilkinson (the accused). For the Prosecution side of the competition on Thursday, attorneys were Noah Majors, Bryanna Muscella, and Matt Majors. Witnesses for the Prosecution included Nick Wilkinson, Stone Thompson, and Hunter Bell. YOUTH LEADERSHIP WALTON Walton County School Board and Walton Chamber of Commerce sponsor a Leadership Class in the high schools of Walton County. A big part of this program, and one of the most popular with students, is the 7 Life Languages presented by Mr. Dan Marcinkowski. “Mr. Dan” has been a guest of our YLW class from February 11 to February 21, dynamically presenting the basis of our roles and relationships with all people through any or all of our seven life languages. He brings interesting stories, stuffed animals, songs, and new knowledge for students to carry with them throughout life. Students fill out a Profile beforehand and Mr. Dan returns with each student’s personal Life Language Profile for students to keep. As they understand their Life Languages, as well as others’,-- at home, school, and work, students learn and grow in their communication and leadership skills for life. YLW students all want to thank Mr. Dan for his time and effort helping us to become the best of Walton. “You Can Do It….We Can Help” Page 6 LADY BRAVES END SEASON UNDEAFEATED IN DISTRICT Lady Braves closed their season with Regional Play-offs.
