Chenille Bear Christmas
Ornament
For a "baby's first Christmas" ornament, add the baby's
name and year on an alphabet bead garland for the bear to
hold!

About 1/2 ounce Lion Brand Chenille Sensations
brown or tan for teddy bear or white for polar bear
(limp worsted weight yarn can be substituted)
Crochet hook size E (or D if you crochet loosely)

Finished size: About 4” high
To work sc dec (over 2 sts): Insert hook in first indicated
stitch and pull up a loop, insert hook in next indicated st and
pull up a loop; yo and pull through all 3 remaining loops on
hook.
Body

Ch 4, join with a sl st to the first ch to form a ring.
Head
Round 1: Work 6 sc in the ring; do not join rounds...instead
use a marker to mark the first stitch of each round. (6 sc)
Rounds 1-4: Work the same as rounds 1-4 of the body. (24 sc
at the end of round 4)
Round 2: Work 2 sc in each sc around. (12 sc)
Rounds 5-7: Sc in each sc around. (24 sc)
Round 3: (Sc in the next sc, 2 sc in the next sc) 6 times. (18
sc)
Round 8: Work as round 11 of the body. (18 sc)
Round 9: Work as round 13 of the body. (12 sc)
Round 4: (Sc in each of the next 2 sc, 2 sc in the next sc) 6

Round 5: Working in the back loop only, sc in each sc

Round 10: (Sc dec over the next 2 stitches) 6 times. (6 sc)
Fasten off. Stuff head with fiberfill and sew to body with body
yarn tail.
Rounds 6-10: Sc in each sc around. (24 sc)
Muzzle
Round 11: (Sc in each of the next 2 sc, sc dec over the next 2
sc) 6 times. (18 sc)
Round 1: Work the same as round 1 of the body. (6 sc)
Round 12: Sc in each sc around. (18 sc)
Rounds 2-3: Sc in each sc around. (6 sc) Fasten off, leaving a
12” yarn tail for sewing. Sew muzzle around round 3 to the
lower “face” side of the head.
Round 13: (Sc in the next dc, sc dec over the next 2 sc) 6
times. (12 sc)
Round 14: Sc in each sc around. (12 sc) Fasten off, leaving a
12-15” yarn tail for sewing. Stuff body with fiberfill.
Ears (make 2)
Ch 2.
Row 1: Work 4 sc in the 2nd ch from hook; ch 1, turn. (4 sc)

Row 2: Sc in each sc across. (4 sc) Fasten off, leaving a 12”
yarn tail for sewing. Sew each ear to the head as in the photo.

Legs (make 2)
Rounds 1-3: Work as for rounds 1-3 of the body. (18 sc at the
end of round 3)
Round 4: Working in the back loop only, sc in each of the
next 6 sc, (sc dec over the next 2 sc) 3 times to form the “toes”,
sc in each of the last 6 sc. (15 sts)
Rounds 5-8: Sc in each sc around. (15 sc) Fasten off, leaving
a 12” yarn tail for sewing. Stuff leg with fiberfill. Sew to body
around round 8 with the yarn tail (“toes” pointing upward.)
Finishing
Sew beads to either side of the upper muzzle for eyes. With
black floss, embroider a small inverted triangle on the upper
muzzle for nose, then embroider an inverted “Y” below the tri-

Red or burgundy 1/4" ribbon
Steel crochet hook size 10
Size: about 3"
Round 1: Work 81 sc around ring. Join with a sl st to first sc.

Round 2: Ch 1, sc in same st as joining; (ch 4, skip next sc, sc
in next sc) 39 times; ch 1, dc in first sc to form last loop. (40

Finishing: Weave ribbon through round 2, going over and

To make a magnet: Glue a magnet to the back.
My favorite: Use as is for a napkin ring.

Crocheter’s Christmas
Ornament
Materials:
One ounce worsted weight Christmas yarn
Crochet hook size D
1 1/2” styrofoam ball
Tacky glue
Straight pins
Ribbon
Wind yarn around the styrofoam ball until completely covered. (It should resemble a ball of yarn.) Secure with a straight
pin. Measure an additional 3 yards of yarn from the spot
where the yarn is pinned to the ball. Cut yarn.
Attach end of the cut yarn to the hook; ch 9.
Row 1: Sc in the 2nd ch from hook and in each ch remaining
across; ch 1, turn. (8 sc)

hook through yarn- covered styrofoam ball, then pick up the
last stitch on row 5. Wind any excess yarn around ball and secure with a straight pin. Pull stitch tightly around hook and

glue in place. Randomly insert a few straight pins through the
yarn-covered styrofoam ball to secure yarn to ball. Glue hook
in place on the ball. Allow glue to dry. Tie ribbon bow around
hook. Thread yarn needle with fishing line. Insert needle
through the styrofoam ball and pull through fishing line. Tie
fishing line to form a hanging loop. Glue bow in place.

Small ziplock bag
Stainless steel straight pins or wooden toothpicks
Waxed paper
Sheet of flat styrofoam
Fishing line

To make dc picot: Ch 5, dc in the 4th ch from hook.
To make cluster picot: Ch 5, yo insert hook in the 4th ch
from hook and pull up a loop, yo and pull through 2 loops on

pull through 2 loops on hook, yo and pull through all 3 remaining loops on hook, sl st in the same ch.
Work tightly for best results. If you tend to crochet loosely,
use a smaller size hook.

Stuffed Gingerbread Man
This gingerbread man can be used as an ornament or
fridgie, or add a few to a wreath! I'm sewing several together at the hands to make a garland for my kitchen window. You can also make a larger one for a stuffed toy by using a larger hook.
Materials:
Limp worsted weight or sport weight yarn
About 1 ounce brown; small amount of white
Crochet hook size D
Fiber fill
Buttons, beads, etc. for trim

Gauge: Rounds 1-2 of the back piece = about 2”

Center 2” ring over the photo so that it looks the way you want
it when framed. Trace around the outside of the 2” ring onto
the centered photo, then cut the photo along the traced circle.
Laminate photo, it desired.

Ch 5; join with a sl st to the first ch to form a ring.

Round 1: Ch 3 to count as the first dc, work 14 more dc in the
ring; join with a sl st to the top of the beginning ch 3. (15 dc)
Glue the photo to the back of the crochet-covered ring of the
front piece, making sure the top of the photo aligns with one
of the points of the star, so the photo will be straight when
hung. Allow glue to dry. With wrong sides together, match the
points of the stars of the front and back pieces. Join yarn with
a sl st through any matching stitch of both pieces; (ch 1, sl st
in the next st) three-quarters of the way around, working (ch
1, sl st) twice in the center trc of the each point of the star.
Stuff with fiberfill, pushing the fiberfill into the corners of the

5 yds. 1/8” green satin ribbon
Bunch of 12 tiny ribbon roses
Wood curtain pole ring that fits a 7/8” diameter pole
About a yard of 1/4” gold ribbon or strung pearls
Crochet hook size E
Steel crochet hook size 6
Hot glue gun and glue stick
Pole ring
Round 1: With the green ribbon and size E hook, work 35 sc
around the pole ring, starting at the left of the eye hook and
working around; join with a sl st in front of the eye hook to the
first sc; fasten off, weave in ends. (35 sc)

Round 2: Using size 6 hook, join crochet thread with a sl st
