LISTEN UP: LISTENING PAYS! SEMINAR
March 31, 2015 8:30-10:30am
Location: UPVCC
Did you know we spend one-third of our workday listening? Listening is the thing we do the most of in our life, except breathing! Yet,
few of us have intentionally developed our listening skills, or given
consideration to the impact of our listening style on our performance and outcomes. In fact, even though research shows that
listening competence is associated with leadership effectiveness,
team performance, and employee well-being most universities do
not require instruction in listening. What’s the bottom-line? Recent
research demonstrates an organization’s listening culture impacts
the bottom-line.

PPL Electric Utilities customers benefit from smart grid technology, which detects
outages quickly, restores power faster
PPL Electric Utilities is making significant investments to improve reliability. It includes new power
lines and substations, stronger poles and line clearance work to meet customer expectations for safe, reliable service.
Customers are also benefiting from the addition of smart equipment. Smart grid improves reliability by sensing power outages, allowing operators to reroute power around the damage – restoring customers even before repairs are made.
In areas where the equipment has been installed, it has reduced outage durations by 30 percent. Smart grid is part of PPL
Electric Utilities’ commitment to customers to limit the duration of power outages when they occur.
