INSTRUCTION MANUAL Vivir y disfrutar v. 02-10-2013 Welcome to “Vivir y disfrutar”, a place to live and enjoy Welcome, First of all we wish you a warm welcome and a pleasant stay in our Villa. We appreciate your choice and we really hope you will enjoy your stay. To make your stay as convenient as possible we have made this instruction manual. In this manual you will find al the important information of the villa and other interesting things about the area. In the digital version of this manual you will find also several links with more information about the subjects online. To make your stay also enjoyable for us we ask you to treat our house and belongings with respect. We made an effort to make the villa as comfortable as possible, and we would appreciate if you respect that. Please be also aware of our neighbours and respect them by not making to much noise, don’t play loud music (especially in the evening) or act disrespectful in any way. If you choose to rent a car, make reservations at home before your arrival. • We recommend to take a TomTom or GPS system with you. It’s useful for your arrival and your daily trips. It’s also possible to rent one at the car rental. Taxis • You can take a taxi from the airport towards the villa. It will take about 40 minutes, and the costs are estimated on EUR 80. The taxi from Sitges to the villa cost about EUR 25 If you want to take a taxi from the villa, you can call the following taxi services: • Taxi Miguel Olivella: (+34) 671 67 13 27 / (+34) 667 62 89 03 • Taxi Sitges: (+34) 938 94 13 29 • Radio Taxi Sitges: (+34) 938 94 35 94 Bus connection from the Airport Barcelona • From Terminal 1 (T1) you also can take the Aerobus / MonBus (direct bus connection) towards Sitges (see Link). From Sitges you have to take a taxi to the villa • If you arrive at T2 you have to take the shuttle bus to T1 • Price of the bus is about EUR 6,-, Taxi from Sitges to the villa is about EUR 25 Train connection from the Airport Barcelona • The train towards Sitges leaves from Terminal 2 (T2) • If you arrive at T1 you have to take the shuttle bus to T2 • From T2 take the train to El Prat de Llobregat (first stop) • Change over at El Prat de Llobregat to the train to Sitges (direction Vilanova i la Geltrú) • From Sitges you have to take a taxi to the villa • Check for the current trainschedule www.renfe.es Directions from the airport Barcelona (1-3) Barcelona Airport to Carrer del Montsec till the C-15B Barcelona Airport is the closest to the villa. Other possibility is to travel from Reus (Near Tarragona) (see next page). From Barcelona airport, hit link for directions • From the airport you follow the directions towards the motorway C32. • Take the C32 towards Tarragona, Lleida and Sitges • You will pass Castelldefels and after that several tunnels. • After 20 minutes you will reach the tollgate, the toll is € 6,5 (okt. 2013). Most visitors have trouble finding the villa the first time, take the directions with you and if possible a GPS. Type Carrer Del Montseny if your GPS doesn’t find the street • Continue the road, you will pass another tunnel, afterwards Sitges is located at the left • You pass Sitges till exit 28 to ‘Sant Pere de Ribes’ • Take the first exit on the roundabout towards St. Pere de Ribers, Vilafranca del Penedès and Olivella (C-15B ) • Follow the C-15b, you will pass St. Pere de Ribes, after that you will go trough a lot of curves trough the wine fields and pass restaurant the Carnivour. • See page 3/3 for the final directions. Directions from the airport Reus (2-3) Rues Airport to Carrer del Montsec till the C-15B From Reus airport: • From the airport follow directions to the AP-7 to Barcelona • After 25 kilometres follow the C32 to Vilanova I la Geltrú and Sitges. You have to pay toll on this road. • Follow the road till the exit 28/C-15b Sant Pere de Ribes est. On this road you also have to pay toll. • On the roundabout follow directions towards Vilafranca del Penedès and Olivella, you will drive over the C32 • On the second roundabout follow again the directions towards Vilafranca del Penedès and Olivella (C-15B ) Most visitors have trouble finding the villa the first time, take the directions with you and if possible a GPS. Directions from C15b to the Villa (3-3) From the C-15b till Calle Montsec, Olivella (Urbanización Mas Mestre) • After restaurant the Carnivour you follow the road till the first street to the right, take the Av. Mas Mestre at the right. You will now enter the urbanización Mas Mestre. • Take after 350 meters the Av. Calle de Los Pirineos at the right. The road goes uphill from this point. • Follow the road (for 1 km) until the third road at the right (the Calle de la Serra del Cadi). • Take after 220 meters the Calle del Montseny/Carrer del Montseny to the left. • Take after 200 meters the Calle del Montsec / Carrer del Montsec to the left. • The villa is the second house at the right Parking at the house, entrance, locking and alarm Parking at the house • You can park your car in the garage, on the driving way or either in front of the house on the street. • The villa is located at a dead-end street with almost no traffic. You can park on the street in front of the house. Entrance, locking and alarm • At the check-in you will get a full explanation about the locking of the house and the functioning of the alarm. • At the check-in you will get 3 sets of keys. With one key for the gate, one for the front entrance door one for the garage and a remote for the gate. • At the check-in you also will get a tag (see next page) to set and unset the alarm. • At your left, next to the frontdoor you will find the alarm box (see next page). • To deactivate the alarm you hold the tag in front of the centre. • To activate the alarm push the following button. Note: Out of safety for yours and ours belongings we ask you to lock the house, to activate the alarm every time you leave the house. Tag and alarm box • When entering the house, the alarm starts ticking. You have 20 seconds to deactivate the alarm. • To deactivate hold your tag in front of the alarm box, the alarm is deactivated when the alarm box lights green up. • In case the alarm hasn’t been switched off correctly, the alarm will be activated. In that case, please call Albert + 34 667 890 312 (our local representative) directly or Elsert + 31 6 54 32 46 42 or Paul + 31 6 41 41 22 19. • At the check-in you will get a full explanation of the alarm and what to do when the alarms sounds. Note: If a false alarm is not reported instantaneously, a charge will be applied when the police has to visit the house. In order to avoid this please always contact Albert, Elsert or Paul in case of a false alarm. Check in, check out and cleaning of the house Local representative: • Our local representative (Albert Visscher) will do the check in and check out. His contact details are: T: + 34 667 890 312 E: acvisscher@msn.com Check-in: • Check-in between 14:00 and 16:00. Check-in after 16:00 is possible with agreement of us. Please contact Elsert to arrange a late check-in. Extra charges may apply. • As soon as you know your travel schedule we ask you to inform us about your expected arrival time, so we can inform Albert and schedule the cleaning of the house. • We ask you to sent a text message to Albert a half hour before arrival, or when you leave the airport. This will allow Albert to go to the villa in due time. • Albert will give the keys (3 sets of keys) of the house and the tags of the alarm. In addition to this manual he will give an explanation of the house, he will give instructions about the alarm, closing and opening the house etc. Don’t hesitate to ask as much as possible so your stay will be as convenient as possible. • At the beginning of your stay a tenancy deposit (€ 500,-) have to be payed (to Albert, our local representative). If the villa is returned in good condition at the conclusion of your stay (to all reasonability) the tenancy deposit will be refunded. If the villa is returned with damage the cost of repairing that damage may be charged against the deposit, and a part (or none) of the deposit will be returned. Check-out: • We ask you to inform Albert (at the check-in or by email) about your expected time of departure, so Albert can make an appointment with you about the check-out time. • Check-out will take approximately 30 minutes. Albert will go through the house for the final inspection and checkout. • If everything is fine upon check-out the EUR 500,- will be returned. • Check-out on the day of departure has to be done before 10:00 in order to clean the house before the next guests arrive. If you have special questions about the check out please contact Elsert or Albert. Cleaning: • The payment for the endcleaning (cleaning, towels, pooltowels and bedlinen) has to be done in advance with the complete payment of the rent. • If you wish it is also possible to arrange an extra cleaning during your stay. You can arrange this with Albert at arrival. • We ask you to take care of your rubbish after your stay and the cleaning of the BBQ. If you haven’t done so, extra cleaningcosts may apply. The Villa Presentation of the house At our website www.vivirydisfrutar.com you will find a complete presentation of our villa. • In addition to our online presentation of the villa (www.vivirydisfrutar.com) we will give in this chapter an explanation of the floor plans and an A to Z description of all the equipment in the house. Bed linen • We provide bed linen in the villa. If you want to wash them in between you can use the washing machine and dryer. Dryer • Drying rack are available in the garage. You can use these to dry towels etc. during your stay. • There is also an dryer available in the garage. • Check before use if the water reservoir (at the bottom) is empty, empty the water reservoir after use. • Choose Delicados, Algodón or Sinteticos (sensative, cotton or synthetic ). • Choose intensity or duration (mostly 70’). • Press ‘Inicio’ (start), see picture. Cats • There are cats living in the neighbourhood of the house. Please DO NOT FEED the cats as this may result in the cats trying to enter the house. Coffee • A Nespresso coffee machine and a simple coffee machine are available in the kitchen Deckchairs • There are eight deck chairs available at the villa. They will be placed on the upper terrace, the pooland the lower deck area. Dishwasher • The kitchen of the main house has a dishwasher. • Dishwasher tablets are not included, but they may be available in the sink cabinet (at the left of the dishwasher). Panel of the dryer DVD-collection • A DVD collection is available in the classic cabinet in the corner of the living room. DVD-player • To play DVD’s turn on the television on Channel AV 3. • Make sure the ‘Televes’ is turned off. • Use the DVD player with the remote control from Panasonic (see picture). Description of equipment A to Z Fireplace • There is a fireplace in the dinner. • Be aware of your own safety and the safety of others when using the fireplace. Be careful with open fire and furniture, carpets and clothes in the surrounding. And don’t leave the fire burning when you leave the house or go to bed. • There is a lever to adjust the outflow of air, make sure it’s open when you use the fireplace. • Wood can be bought at the gas station. Don’t use wood from the surrounding of the house since it gives a lot of sparks. Garage • In the garage you will find some personal storage spaces, the washing machine, dryer and water reservoir, water filter and central heating system (on oil). • Please do not touch the system, it might be deregulated. • You can park your car in the garage, we advice to park outside or even on the street, the driving way is quite narrow. • Parking on the street is save, it’s a really quiet street. Garden • The garden is maintained by our local representative. • The garden has an automatic irrigation system which will be activated twice a day. In the evening and early in the morning. Please do never change the settings of the irrigation system. • If you have any questions regarding the garden please ask Albert. Gardenlight • In the garden you will find several spots and standinglights in the flower pots at the terrace. • At the left of the BBQ you will find a switch for the outside spots. • The remote is in the kitchen Garbage • Garbage is collected in containers near the road. The container stands down on the street, at the of crossing Calle Montseny and Calle de la Serra del Cadi. • For your own hygiene, and to reduce the risk of pests (like ants) we ask you to take away your garbage on a frequent basis. Heating • In the house a central heating system (on oil) is available. In the corridor of the main house you will find the thermostat to turn on the heating, see picture: • In the garage the system is placed, please do not touch the system since it might be deregulated. Thermostat Description of equipment A to Z Internet: • Wireless internet is available. The name of the network is: WLAN_A5DB • There is no access code needed for the network Sunscreens • The sunscreens have a remote, they don’t need much of an explanation, just try. see left picture • If they don’t work the battery is maybe empty, just contact Albert if you have any questions Outside lounge: • There is an outside lounge set. • In the small shed at the behind of the house you will find the pillows for the lounge. • In this shed you also will find some fat boys for around the pool • Please put the pillows in the shed after use. Shutters and blinds: • The main house has roll down shutters. The guest house has blinds. • Use the shutters to keep the sun out of the house, it keeps the house cooler. • We advice you to close the shutters and blinds when you leave the house especially at night. • When the shutters of the guest house are opened, please lock the shutters with the hooks on the wall, to prevent damage by the wind. Smoking • It’s a smoking free villa and we like to keep it that way, so please smoke outside. • Make sure that the ashes are extinguished, out of danger for forest fire Swimming pool + pool light • On predefined time frames the pool will start to circulate and the water will be filtered. • During summertime (from April till October) The swimming pool is cleaned ones a week. • The pool light is switched on and of with the special remote, see right picture above. • Turn on/of with the D-button nearby the poolside Description of equipment A to Z Television • The Thomson remote belongs to the television. • Programs (from the satellite) can be viewed On AV 1 and AV 2. Televes • Televes is the remote control of the satellite and has a big variety of mostly English channels • Channel is AV2 of the TV Towels • Each guest will have three towels. • Two for the badrooms and one for the pool. • The towels have three different sizes. • If you would like to wash the towels during your stay, you can do so by using the washing machine and drying rack which can be found in the garage. Washing machine (see picture) • You will find the washing machine in the garage. • There is no need to open the water tap, you just directly can start using it. • For normal wash use the program “WITTE WAS / BONTE WAS”. • Turn the left button to the desired temperature. • Choose ‘KORT’ for a short program. • Choose the spin speed (normal 1200). • Push START/PAUZE. • Afterwards turn the left button to ‘UIT’. Panel washing machine Windows • The windows opens by pulling the small slide down (on green). • Please keep the slide down when closing the window. Make sure that the window is closed properly since the slide it not always works correctly. • Make sure that all windows are closed when you leave the villa. Food, wine and dine Food, wine and dine Daily commodities Supermarket Mas Mila (5 min) (Placa Catalunya, Olivella) • In the urbanisation Mas Mila you will find a very small supermarket. You can buy here the main groceries. See link for route : Supermarket Sant Pere de Ribes (10 min) • In the Centre of Sant Pere de Ribes you will find more and bigger markets (for vegetables, meat, bread, daily commodities). Local youngsters gather on the beach after nightfall. See link for more information. • Of course Barcelona has a big nightlife, see link for information. • For who is interested there is a big gay community in Sitges, especially in summer, this reflects in a large amount of gay bars in the Centre. Sightseeing Sightseeing Barcelona needs no explination, but how to get there by train maybe does: Visit Barcelona by train Visit Barcelona by train: • If you want to visit Barcelona during your stay, you can go by car, which is quiete easy or park your car in Sitges and take the train (€ 6,- for a return ticket) to the centre of Barcelona. • FROM SITGES TO BARCELONA A lot of trains depart from Sitges to Barcelona every 7 min. in rush hours and every 10-15 min. the rest of the day. All the trains stop in Sants station and later in Passeig de Gracia station, which is in the city centre. FROM BARCELONA TO SITGES You have 2 trains, one goes direction Sant Vicenç de Calders through Sitges, that's very important, as there's another one with the same direction that goes inland and doesn't stops in Sitges, the other goes direction Vilanova i la Geltrú. The trip is about 40-45 min, depending of the train. • For more information about public transport follow this Link or see www.renfe.es Train station Parking for the train station in Sitges: • Sitges has sevaral parking spots on the street, only you have to pay, and a maximum time to park, so, not really handy when you go to Barcelona for a day. • You can park your car next to the train station in a garage for a whole day. (at the sign. • Another option is to park your car for free in Sitges, there are posibilities, it’s only a long walk. It is positionated before the railways, see the sign on the picture Sightseeing Olivella General • Olivella is in the Centre of the Garraf Park, and among vineyards and palms one finds this picturesque town of little more than 3,000 habitants. The district of Olivella consist of the village, several country houses and six urbanisations. The village is situated on a small hill (Puig Cabot 211 m) and its house are grouped around the new church. Olivella has a rich variety of festivals and traditions, as well as the possibility of enjoying excellent Catalan cuisine, all within a setting of natural peace and quiet and beautiful unique scenery. Go • You can walk around in de village, it’s pretty small. To get there you’ll need a car. See / Do • Enjoy the ride to Olivella, you drive along vineyards. • De old village and church are nice to see and walk around. • There are several old country houses. • Palau Novella Museum. It’s a remarkable building of eclectic style attributed to the architect Manual Comas Thos. Currently owned by the Sakya Tashi Ling Buddhist community, which organises relaxation, yoga, tai chi and meditation workshops and talks about Buddhism. See Link • Have lunch at Gabriels in the old city centre. Buy • Wine an dine in restaurants (Gabriel) • Souvenirs (in Palau Novella) Sightseeing Sitges General • Sitges is a lovely town, a seaside resort some 35km southwest of Barcelona in Catalunya, Spain. • Sitges has one of most vibrant and hippest gay scene on the coast. • The beaches are very colorful and fun! The city which overlooks the Mediterranean has large avenues, narrow streets, a museum and the gorgeous beaches of Costa Dorada/Golden Coast. Go • Walk or taxi cab, it is a charming small city. See • A walk trough the village is nice, along the beach and restaurants. • Cau Ferrat: this house was owned by Santiago Russiñol, a modernist painter that gave a lot of life to the movement. Do • Beaches: there are 17 beaches of varying sizes, the most famous is perhaps Platja de St Sebastian, located just northeast of the Cau Ferrat. • Sightseeing, Walk around in the village or along the beach Buy • Wine, dine, night live • Shop: local souvenirs and clothing brands. In Sitges (unlike nearby Barcelona) all of the shops are allowed to open on Sundays. You will find a wide range of fashion stores around the city. Several of them carry top brands. Pedestrian streets on the city center get quite crowded on Sunday afternoons with tourists and people from Barcelona buying. Be aware that several shops on the afternoon open just after 17:00 and stay open until 21:00. Sightseeing Other Garraf (village) • Small village between Barcelona and Sitges. • Follow the C31 from Sitges along the coast, it’s a nice ride!. Have lunch at La Cúpula, and make a walk along the beach. Olèrdola • It’s an old small village (ruins) which can be visited by car. You can see the old church on top of the hill from the villa. El Garraf • The natural park El Garraf. • The El Garraf district receives its name from the mountains located to the east of the district. Classified as a nature park, this mountainous area contains flora and fauna difficult to find anywhere other than on the Catalan coast. • El Garraf, together wit the l’Alt and Baix Penedès districts, forms the natural region of Penedès, which occupies part of the coastal area. It is separated from the Penedès depression by the Garraf massif, formed by limestone, which reaches the sea forming a typical coastal landscape, engraved by the action of the sea which has formed a large number of caves. • The district capital is Vilanova i la Geltrú, one of the most important fishing ports in Catalonia. http://www.garraftour.com/ Activities Activities There are several possible activities to do in the area • There are several possible activities to do in the area.
