Albin Stratus - Vita Brevis
Albin Stratus - Vita Brevis - 1978 – 1987 The name “Vita Brevis” means in latin Short Life. Not that the life of the boat should be short but the full expression is Ars longa, vita brevis – the (sailing) art lasts for ever but a boat is just a part of the endless sailing. The name could also be pronounced in most languague without problems. We have also strived to have the colour of the hull in the name; Blå Blomman (Blue Flower), Dame Blance (White Lady) and now Vita Brevis where “Vita” in Swedish means just white. We where early out shen Peter Norlin had constructed a ¾ tonner called Stratus and with some friends we bought seven boats and participated in the devlopment of the boat and the One Class Rule for fair raising. We raised her and we cruised with her. In Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Norway. She was a lovely boat to sail. She was delivered with the interior to be fitted by the buyer. We had to compleate her but we hired some boat builders to do a professional job – which they did. A lovely lively boat to sail! In 1987 she was sold to Finland and in 2010 she still sails there. She has the same name but a different type face and new colour on the hull. 30 years young locking better than ever! Albin Stratus was constructed by Peter NORLING and produced by Albin Marin. Between 1978 – 1984 around 100 boats where delivered. At the end some Stratus were produced in Taiwan. Loa 10,72 m, beam 3,3 m, draught 2,10 m, displacement 7,2 tons Link to specifications
