She was shown by Katy Satree and earned Reserve Champion of Division 1 at the 2013 National Junior Shorthorn Show. Show ring success is just the beginning of her achievements. It is clear that this daughter of the immortal Trump and Augusta Pride 403, the Rodeo Drive-sired daughter of the original Augusta Pride 3127, has the potential to become a true breeding female who transmits both style and substance to her sons and daughters. She’s definitely a donor-in-development! LCCC is not retaining interests or flushes in our females this year to allow “forward looking” breeders the opportunity to invest with no strings attached. This heifer made that decision extra difficult! See us after the sale if you’d like to discuss our involvement in her future matings and marketing. Whoa! Don’t miss the opportunity to own Lot 1’s FULL SISTER heifer pregnancy due March, 2014. What you see is what you’ll get! We acquired her from a flush of the original SS Augusta Pride 3127. We chose Rodeo Drive for the sire, knowing the donor cow potential of that mating. We were fortunate to raise three heifers and a bull from that flush. We kept 403 and still use the bull in our AI program. We sold one heifer and lost the other but have progeny from her. The 3127 mating to Rodeo Drive has produced several top donors in the breed and their matings to Trump and Trump-sired bulls continue to work, as evidenced by the Lot 1 heifer! 403 has also mated well to Sonny and Sonny Duece. We currently own a Sonny daughter that we are holding for a future donor. 403’s daughter 7D22 was a champion for Lance. She is sired by Sonny Duece, as are the Lot 1C embryos. The donor RL Augusta Pride 403 is due to calve late November, 2013 to RL Navigator. She’ll be ready for this flush in early March. 3 AUGUSTA PRIDE Augusta Pride bred heifer with outcross appeal! REVIVAL BUYER/SELLER AGREEMENTS • For all lots in which future fulfillment is a factor (ie. flushes, retained rights to flushes, retained percentage ownership), the Revival provides a written agreement between seller and buyer. Prepared by an attorney, these agreements document the original sale terms in case of a dispute. Both parties will sign, and will be provided a copy. The original, signed agreement is filed by the Revival. REVIVAL FLUSH TERMS • Feature Flush lots guarantee a minimum of six transferable embryos. Flush purchases require one-half payment sale day. The balance is due upon completion of the flush. Flush terms are detailed in a written agreement between seller and buyer. Seller will not begin flush procedure until agreement is signed. Buyer has no obligation to make any part of the balance payment until complete flush agreement is achieved. Seller has no obligation to release embryos or pregnancies achieved until complete balance payment is made. Buyer pays all flush expenses, unless otherwise specified in detail by seller. REVIVAL EMBRYO PACKAGES • Proper settlement must be made in order for embryos to be released. The update sheet will list the embryo packages that are available to take with you from the sale, along with the storage location of all other packages. Shipping arrangements and costs are the responsibility of the buyer. PREGNANCY INSURANCE • The Revival suggests that buyers of pregnancy lots invest in pregnancy insurance. The policy covers a live birth and the first 49 days of life at the cost of 15% of the purchase price. Buyers should notify Hugh F. Miller Insurance, Harding & Harding agent, on sale day or by phone at 815-626-1300 by October 7, 2013. DNA GENOTYPING & GENETIC TESTING • Sale lots are THF and PHAF, unless otherwise stated. A DNA genotype is utilized in establishing parentage and in determining the presence of a genetic defect. Animals do not have to be DNA genotyped or free of defects to be registered. A listing of genetic defect “free” (F) and “carrier” (C) animals maintained by the ASA is periodically updated on the website www.shorthorn.org. If an animal becomes an A.I. sire or a donor dam, all required genetic testing must be completed and a DNA record must be on file with ASA prior to registering any progeny. CALFHOOD VACCINATION OF HEIFERS • All Revival open heifers have been calfhood vaccinated by their consignors. CANADIAN PURCHASES • We welcome our Canadian friends to make purchases in the sale, and we will cooperate in arranging international testing and shipment. However, all costs of testing and shipment are the responsibility of the buyer. 18 REVIVAL CONSIGNMENT INVITATION • Making a purchase in the Revival creates the eligibility to consign to future sales. Please contact Steve French by April 1, 2014 to discuss your interest in consigning potential sale lots next year. They are looking for bulls that will solve their problems. They also have to get their cows pregnant. But, if they can’t find bulls that will solve their problems, they will have no choice but to take the best bulls available. Unfortunately for the Shorthorn breed, I don’t think we have enough bulls available to get one extra thousand Shorthorn bulls into this great, open market for replacement bulls. We believe we must breed the kind of strength and quality into our Shorthorns to make bulls and their calves strong enough to be preferred by ranchers, and commercial cattlemen and take some bull business away from these other breeds. The Great Shorthorn Revival is here. The need for strong Shorthorn bulls is 100 times greater than your and our capacity to produce at this time. But, opportunity is where the NEED is…and because the need is great, the opportunity is great! Don’t let the Great Shorthorn Revival pass you by! Start today! If you need a new bull, travel farther, look harder, pay more…but insist on the bull you need. Don’t settle for a substitute for a good bull. Pick up the big, strong females you occasionally have the opportunity to buy. The kind that will produce a calf every year, and give enough milk to make a job of the calf. Start today to build up the strength of your herd. Competition demands that all of us Shorthorn people produce bulls that will sire bull calves strong enough to be preferred by commercial cattlemen all over America!
