CHAMPIONSHIPS & SPECIAL CIRCUIT AWARDS
CHAMPIONS TOURNAMENT SERIES
The Trophy Show, Mid Summer Masters and Saskatoon Classic now make up the CHAMPIONS TOURNAMENT SERIES.
Points will accumulate from the three events that make up the tournament series. During the Saskatoon Classic,
Tournament Series High Point and Reserve High Point will be awarded for:
• Low Hunter – 2’ 6” and under
• High Hunter – 2’ 9” and over
• Low Jumper - 1.0m and under
• High Jumper – 1.10 and over
High Point and Reserve High Point will receive prizes.
After each of the first two competitions, a list of current point leaders will be posted on our Champions Tournament
Facebook page.
Schooling Hunter, Medal and Clear Round jumper classes will not count towards these awards.
SASKATCHEWAN HORSE FEDERATION
Saskatchewan
SHF Heritage Circuit and SHF Prairie Cup nominations must be purchased prior to
competition. If nominations are not received by the SHF before competition the points
for the show won’t count. Points earned during this show will count towards year-end
awards. Heritage Circuit and Prairie Cup classes are indicated in the prize list.
SASKATCHEWAN HUNTER JUMPER ASSOCIATION
Saskatchewan Hunter Jumper Association memberships are required for participation in SHJA medal classes. If
memberships are not received by the SHJA before competition the points won’t count.
JOCKEY CLUB THOROUGHBRED CLUB
To encourage the retraining of Thoroughbreds into other disciplines upon completion of careers
in racing or breeding, The Jockey Club is proud to announce the Thoroughbred Incentive Program
(T.I.P.). All three events in the Champions Tournament Series are T.I.P. shows. Only Thoroughbreds that
have been registered with The Jockey Club or a foreign Thoroughbred stud book recognized by The
Jockey Club are eligible to participate in T.I.P. classes and awards. Riders and owners should obtain a
T.I.P. number for all horse/rider combinations. T.I.P. number applications are done online at www.tjctip.com. T.I.P.
numbers must be provided to the horse show. Thoroughbreds entered in the T.I.P. program are eligible to win the
Hunter High Point Thoroughbred Award and Jumper High Point Thoroughbred Award. NOTE: you must be entered
into the T.I.P. program prior to the show.

Equine Canada Statement Of Principles
Equine Canada (EC), the national equestrian federation of Canada, supports adherence to
the humane treatment of horses in all activities under its jurisdiction.
All persons shall be committed to:
• upholding the welfare of horses, regardless of value, as a primary consideration in all activities;
• requiring that horses be treated with kindness, respect and compassion, and that they never be subjected to
mistreatment;
• ensuring that all Equestrians including owners, trainers and competitors, or their respective agents, use
responsible care in the handling, treatment and transportation of their own horses as well as horses placed in
their care for any purpose;
• providing current information on Code of Practice for the Care and Handling of Equines and other equine
health and welfare initiatives;
• continuing to support scientific studies on equine health and welfare;
• requiring owners, trainers and competitors to know and follow their sanctioning organization’s rules, and to
work within industry regulations in all equestrian competition; and
• actively promoting the development and adherence of competition rules and regulations that protect the
welfare of the horse.
The standard by which conduct or treatment will be measured is that which a person, who is informed and
experienced in generally accepted equine training and exhibition procedures, would determine to be neither cruel,
abusive, nor inhumane. (A602.3(f ))

Attention ALL Competitors
Class schedule is subject to change! It is the responsibility of each competitor to check the daily schedule of classes
posted on notice boards at the show office. Championship presentations will take place after placing last class of
division. Please remain at ring with your horse to receive your awards. All breaks will be announced at the show.
GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS
GENERAL RULES
1. The Champions Tournament competition is sanctioned as
Bronze and Gold competition members of Equine Canada
(EC), 308 Legget Drive, Suite 100 Ottawa, ON K2K 1Y6 and
is governed by the rules of EC. (A602.1) Every class offered
herein is covered by the rules and specifications of the
current rules of Equine Canada and will be held and judged
in accordance with the EC Rule Book. (A602.2)
2. All shows in the Champions Tournament are also conducted
according to the guidelines provided in the current
Saskatchewan Horse Federation and EC Rule Book.
3. The management committee reserves the right to decide
any point not covered in the rules and to correct any errors or
make any alterations that may be necessary in the prize list.
4. Per Article A801, every entry at an EC-sanctioned
competition shall constitute an agreement by the person
responsible that the owner, lessee, trainer, manager, agent,
coach, driver, or rider and horse shall be subject to the EC
constitution and all rules of EC and any additional rules set
by the competition. It is the responsibility of all individuals
participating in any capacity in EC-sanctioned competitions
to be knowledgeable regarding the EC constitution and
the applicable rules of EC and the additional rules, if any,
imposed by the competition. Do not participate in this
EC-sanctioned competition in any capacity if you do not
consent to be bound by the constitution and rules of EC and
any additional rules imposed by the competition. (A602.7)
5. The management committee reserves the right to remove
any groom, owner, trainer, manager, or rider from the horse
show without compensation should that individual exhibit
dangerous or unsportsmanlike behavior or harm to a horse.
6. Any acts of discourtesy, or disobediences to the judges or
officials by the owner, rider, manager, trainer, or groom shall
disqualify them from further competition in the horse show
and the owner shall forfeit all fees.
7. Inhumane treatment of a horse including polling, rapping,
or other abuse shall not be tolerated. Violation of this rule
shall result in immediate disqualification, and forfeiture of
all fees and prizes.
8. In the case of disqualification, the horse winning the
succeeding prize shall receive the prize of the disqualified
horse and the other prizes shall be adjusted accordingly.
9. No person other than the officials, stewards, staff on duty,
and the judges of the classes may enter the competition
rings without permission of the horse show management.
10.Competitors are allowed in the competition ring only when
22 | 2016 Champions Tournament

and fees. By signing the waiver, riders, owners and agents
are agreeing to abide by the EC, SHF and prize list rules as
well as agreeing to allow their horses to be drug tested.
