These range from water activities such as kayaking to nature walks in the dense bamboo filled forests. BIRD WATCHING Guyana boasts over 800 species of birds. A great number of them can be found at Hurakabra. Bird watching at Hurakabra is exciting either under the mango trees or sitting on the water tank tower approximately 100 feet above the river. Some of the birds that can be found in this area are White throated Toucan (Red billed Toucan) along with Amazon Kingfisher, Swifts and Red and Green Macaws. Experience an early morning trip to Kalf Island and spot a few sloths in the trees. A RAINFOREST ENVIRONMENT The Environment At Hurakabra a number of trees can be found , e.g., the Mora, Kabakalli and most of all the imposing Silk Cotton towering about 90 feet from ground, next to the Bamboo Cottage. This tree is the king of all trees in the jungle. An organic garden will soon be providing our vegetables and fruits for our guests. Animals at the resort- Visitors may be lucky to spot a jaguar, labba, deer, accuri, wild hog or powis (wild fowl), monkeys or parrots having a meal in the mango tree or be awakened by howler monkeys in the early morning.
