AFK is short for “Away From Keyboard”, a
common term used by gamers during multiplayer
sessions when they want to take a break from raiding
a dungeon or when they have to go grab a sandwich
for lunch, or conduct other miscellaneous activities.
Being away from the keyboard can sometimes
earn the ire of other gamers especially during intense
and heated moments, and can also cause a gamer
to be boycotted or worse, banned. But now that
the NVIDIA SHIELD has finally been released to the
masses, AFK will mean a whole different thing and it

The 2013 Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in
June this year was a particularly exciting convention, as
Sony and Microsoft announced the successors to their
video game consoles.
Sony initially gave the world a peek at what’s under
the hood with the PlayStation 4 back in February, just
as Microsoft teased gamers with the announcement of
their Xbox One in May, but E3 was where gamers finally
saw what was in store this holiday season. We take a
closer look at the consoles and the exclusive titles for
the next-generation of video games.

nnounced in February, ahead of
the Xbox One, the Sony
PlayStation 4 is seemingly the
choice for hardcore gamers everywhere.
Not only more affordable than
Microsoft’s console, it is also gameroriented; designed for users who want to
share their gaming experiences with
friends and family over their favorite
social networks. For instance, a new
Share button on the DUALSHOCK®4
controller allows users to upload
gameplay videos or even broadcast one’s
gaming experience for viewers to watch;
proving that Sony is putting the social
back into video games.
A
New innovations also offers more
immersive gaming experiences, such
as a touch pad built into the controller
and second screen support via the
PlayStation Vita. Like the Xbox One,
the PlayStation 4 is supported by
PlayStation Plus – a membership service
that offers members instant access to
a top rated blockbuster game each
month, as well as exclusive access
to online multiplayer for games like
Killzone: Shadow Fall, DRIVECLUB and
Watch Dogs.
In terms of power and performance,
it also has the upper hand, thanks to a
more robust GPU with 18 GCN compute
units and ultra-fast GDDR5 memory,
which allows for better graphics
and greater bandwidth. Measured
in teraflops, the difference between
PlayStation 4 is some 0.6 TFLOPS faster
than the Xbox One, which should prove

although its superior specifications does
not mean that the PlayStation 4 will win
the console war.

at Malaysia’s Largest IT Lifestyle Mall from
August 23 to August 25 and features the
‘Win Big, Win More’ contest where patrons
of the carnival stood a chance to win up to
RM50,000 in cash. Thousands of visitors
could not resist the many deals on offer
and participated in the 3-day ICT carnival.

inetology officially launched its flagship Touch Point store
in Plaza Low Yat. The store provides consumers with a
chance to test out Ninetology’s wide range of products.
Sean Ng, Chief Executive Officer, Ninetology Malaysia, along with
a host of other VIPs including local talents like Sasi the Don, and
Iqwal Hafiz were present at the opening.
“Our flagship Touch Point celebrates this freedom of
expression with a wide offering of smartphones that caters to
consumers with a wide variety of interests. The flagship Touch
Point will serve as a youth and culture training hub to spread the
urbanite culture that is cultivated by Ninetology,” said Eddy Tay,
Head of Chanel, Ninetology Malaysia.
In conjunction with the new store opening, Ninetology took
up the concourse area of Plaza Low Yat to display their products.
In addition, the company held special promotions for their mobile
