S h a n e Co ol e y Shane Cooley is an emerging 20 year old contemporary rock singer/songwriter. Shane Cooley Steadily making a name for himself as an original new talent, Shane has built a following since he began performing in 2001. He has written over 150 songs, reflecting his experiences with stories that draw in and captivate the audience. As a skilled and emotional singer, Shane successfully combines his heartfelt lyrics with catchy guitar riffs in a variety of musical styles that include Americana, Folk, Country, Hard Rock and Rock & Roll. Shane puts on an entertaining show, often mixing it up with the audience. His diverse and good humored performances include up close & personal acoustic shows and energized full band concerts, all with his own material. Shane grew up on the shores of the Rappahannock River located in the rural Northern Neck of Virginia. He began writing songs at the age of 13 with influences such as Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, Rob Thomas, Ziggy Marley, Tracy Chapman and Ryan Adams. At 14, Shane wrote and recorded, ‘Live On USA’, donating all proceeds to the Red Cross Relief Fund of America. This earned him a volunteer award in which he received a standing ovation from a group of veterans, prompting him to move forward in the music business and to continue with charity work. Shane has recorded a total of 11 self-recorded and studio CDs, all with his own songs. He receives regional, national and international airplay, including XM, Sirius and recent attention from the UK. As a student, at The College of William and Mary, Shane has acquired a loyal following and a steady interest from local radio and newspapers. His current work, ‘Whirlpool’, is a concept album about personal challenges. Six songs have received airplay. Musicians Stewart Myers (Lifehouse, Mandy Moore), Steve Bassett (Delbert McClinton) and Tim Bradshaw (John Mayer’s touring band) joined him in the studio to create an upbeat record in the vein of Bruce Springsteen and Tom Petty. Song usage includes compilation CDs, college productions, advertising and television shows. Shane’s popular song, ‘Dreams and Aspirations’ is currently being used as the feature song in Disaboom’s national infomercial. ‘Don’t Want To Be In The City Tonight’ was featured on ‘The Minor Accomplishments of Jackie Woodman’ on cable’s IFC. From intimate songwriter showcases to large national multi-day events, Shane Cooley has attracted audiences up and down the East Coast, including New York City and Nashville. Dedication, perseverance and word of mouth have gained Shane respect within the music community. Shane will spend 2008 pushing his work to record labels. “Shane Cooley writes strong songs with nice hooks and is very dedicated to his career.” - Chris Keup “I met Shane Cooley a couple years back...he is an artist committed to his craft and his positive outlook and drive will take him where he wants to go.
