Dan’s Divinities
James Borello, our Youth Director,
had something nice to say about
you all today. He said, “I’ve never
been in a church like this where
everyone wants to volunteer. It’s
great!” I echo his sentiments. We
are in the process of nominating
church officers for next year, and
almost everyone wants to serve! It
is great!
are good that they may be back to
stay. We also had three visitors
Sunday, two of them were first
time visitors. Thank you for making them feel welcome!
We have two groups of Covenant
Bible Study participants, and if it
grows, we may have to enlarge to
three groups. I am really excited!
It is going to be a really, really
good study. We will be mining the
entire bible for the truth of God’s
Word. It is life-changing and spirit-enhancing.
See you in the Lord’s house Sunday!
Good things are happening in our
church, and the best thing of all is
you! You are a blessing to me, to
those in our church family, and to
our community. Thank you!
Pastor Dan
Several of you invited people to

Church Sunday. Thank you! We

been present with for a long time

Converge would like to thank all that have signed up to help with the
pumpkin patch. We will be having a meeting of volunteers this Sunday after 11am service in Cravens hall. We will go
over the guidelines and some other things so
that you are well informed when you work
the patch. Also Sunday, at 3pm we will be
raising a fence in front of McDonough hall if
you would like to come out and help with
that. Then Saturday, October 4th, the truck
will be arriving with the pumpkins, time to be announced this Sunday. If you would like to volunteer for any of this please feel free to email me at James.borello@gmail.com or Jamie
Voigtman at wvoigtman@gmail.com. IT IS NEVER TO LATE TO SIGN UP TO HELP AT THE
PATCH. Again, thank you for your prayers and gifts to the youth.
On October 11 , Converge will be selling links and a drink next to the pumpkin patch to help
raise money for supplies for Converge . This will be a great time for
our youth and church to shine during Cruise’n Silsbee. If you would
like to help or make a donation for this please contact me at church
or via email at james.borello@gmail.com

Connectional Charge Conference
The clergy and laity are encouraged to attend an afternoon of fellowship, worship, celebration, and learning. The Southeast District Connectional Charge/Church Conference
(CCC) and Lay Leadership Training will be held November 16, 3:00–6:00 p.m. at
Beaumont, Wesley UMC, in the Family Life Center (Gym). The Annual Charge Conference business will be affirmed by consent and received by the District Superintendent. Eric Hoffer, in his book Reflections on the Human Condition, wrote, “In a time
of drastic change it is the learners who inherit the future. The learned usually find
themselves equipped to live in a world that no longer exists.” Responding to the fast
pace of change in culture gives the church exciting new possibilities for innovative mission and ministry. The Reverend John Thornburg, Senior Area Consultant for the Texas Methodist Foundation, is our keynote speaker and facilitator for the lay leadership
training. He will teach on “Adaptive Change and the Missional Church.” All church
leaders and interested laity are invited to attend.
Faithweaver Friends started last
week on Wednesday, September
17th. We had 30 children present.
We all had a great time! It was
good to be together again to learn
about Jesus. Registration is still open, and the forms
are located in the church office, and also at Silsbee
Public Library.
We still need drivers and helpers. If you would like to
help or have questions, please call Glenda Delano at
373-4155 or 291-9480.
The Fall Festival is just around the corner! We are asking for donations of individually wrapped candy and small toys. You can leave donations at the church office. Call Glenda Delano to volunteer to work at your favorite game or booth. The Fall Festival will be in the Dauphin Room of McDonough Hall on October 31st from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
Thank You…
We would like to express our sincere appreciation and gratitude to
everyone for all the visits, cards,
food, and lunch prepared for our
family at the church. Most of all
we felt the comfort and support of
your prayers during the passing of
our beloved Mother.

Bishop’s Annual Visit
Bishop Janice R. Huie will visit the SE
District on Friday, October 10. Clergy
will meet at 3:00 p.m. and Laity will
meet at 7:00 p.m. at Beaumont, Wesley UMC, in the Dinning Hall. This
year’s theme will be “Leadership Values that will Transform Your Church.”
She will be talking about four qualities of leadership: courageous leading, faith talking, compassion sharing,
and bridge building.
Bishop Huie
established the annual district visits
shortly after arriving in the Texas Annual Conference.
“Previous bishops made itinerations for special causes, such as
missions,” explains B.T. Williamson, Assistant to the Bishop,
“but she is the first one that made it a point to visit every year
and interact with clergy and laity in every district of the conference. The attendance and feedback has been very positive.” Each district visit typically includes a devotional, presentation, and interactive group participation.
