In many ways, 2014 was a breakout year -- we announced two new student scholarships, we
hosted the District 7 Leadership Conference, and saw record turnout at the ADDY’s and
Bowl-A-Thon. This success is a result of the tireless efforts of those of you who have joined,
volunteered, and invested time to benefit the creative community.
As we celebrate tonight and look forward to 2015, we commit once again to making a mark in
the creative community and serving our members and we ask for your help. Simply put, if you’ve
never been a member, let 2015 be the year you join and make your mark on the community.

Welcome to the 2015 American Advertising Awards. It is truly our honor to be able to celebrate
the outstanding work that was produced in our creative community over the course of the past
year, as well as the people who brought these ideas and projects to life.

THE JUDGES
SHON RATHBONE
An experienced creative leader and storyteller, Shon founded
3Headed Monster in May 2014. Shon has 20 years of experience
working in blue chip agencies like Leo Burnett, Hal Riney, Carmichael Lynch, and
FCB. Before he founded 3Headed Monster, Shon worked at Publicis Dallas as the
creative leader. He has extensive experience with brands in nearly every category,
with specialization in automotive, restaurants, CPG, and enthusiast brands. His
work has been recognized by Cannes, Communication Arts, DA&D, Effie, and the
One Show. In addition to his work in advertising, Shon is a visiting professor at his
alma mater, Michigan State University, and recently sold his first screenplay.
LINDY GROSS

Lindy Gross is a writer and creative director currently living in Atlanta, GA. As the VP
Digital Creative Director at Brunner, Lindy works with nationally recognized brands
like Aquafresh, Tums, Huffy, Nicorette, and NicoDerm CQ. Previously, Lindy worked
at Moxie Interactive as a Creative Director. During her time at Moxie Interactive,
Lindy’s clients included Coca-Cola, Minute Maid, Nestea, Home Depot, and HP.
She is a National ADDYs winner and has had her work featured in Adweek. Outside
of work, Lindy is a teacher at The Creative Circus, an art and advertising school in
Atlanta. Lindy studied Advertising at Syracuse University and Copywriting at The
Creative Circus.

Tony Lintner currently serves as the VP Group Creative Director at Martin
Williams Advertising in Minneapolis. Before he joined the team at Martin
Williams, Tony worked as a Creative Director at space150 for brands like Buffalo
Wild Wings, Cambria, OptumHealth, and United Health Group. Tony has also
done creative work at Colle McVoy, Carmichael Lynch, and Target. He is known
for his specialty in interactive advertising, creative strategy, art direction, and
interaction design. Tony has received awards from the Advertising Federation
(Gold, Silver, and Bronze awards), The FWA (Site of the Day), One Show, Addy
(Best in Show), Webby, and more.

His campaigns embody a strong sense of the New Orleans community. Alford is responsible for
creating the iconic Radiofone jingle and the infamous “You Don’t Know Ditka” ads featuring Mike
Ditka. In addition, his team helped conceptualize Rouses’ hit “Where the Chefs Shop” campaign, which
has featured some of the most prominent chefs and restauranteurs in the community, including John
Besh, Ella Brennan, Susan Spicer, Leah Chase, and Donald Link. He took the River Parish Disposal
brand from ordinary to unforgettable with his conception of the “Our Business Stinks, but It’s Picking
Up” tagline, which led to the highly recognized Buddy D. “talking trash” commercials.
Outside of his long-term cultivation of these brands, Alford is responsible for launching some of
the most unforgettable campaigns the city of New Orleans has ever seen. He has executed brand
marketing, advertising and promotions for local and national businesses of all sizes and industries,
including Hilton, the NFL and NBA, Audubon Zoo, The Riverwalk Shops, the National Multiple
Sclerosis Society, Bridge House, Music Legends Park, NOCCA, First Bank & Trust, Lakeside Hospital,
Team Gleason, Ameripure Oysters, and many, many more. The creative genius of his campaigns have
left a lasting mark on the city, from WWOZ’s “Guardian of the Groove” campaign featuring beloved
local musicians such as Trombone Shorty, Irma Thomas and Allen Toussaint, to the unforgettable
“Buddy D Parade” he planned in preparation for the 2010 Superbowl, in which a record-breaking
80,000 people paraded down Bourbon Street in dresses.
Robert has a truly unqiue knack for dreaming up uninhibited, no-holds-barred concepts, then applying
his special blend of of logistics, strategy and timing to create advertising campaigns that hit it out of the
park every single time. Driving down the streets of the city, there are signs of Alford’s impressive body
of work everywhere you turn. Some might say it is impossible to capture the essence of this spiritually
rich city, but it is safe to wager that Robert Alford has come as close as humanly possible.

So began the lasting legacy that Alford has built within the local advertising scene. Alford quickly
earned a reputation as a trailblazer who attracted the creative minds of New Orleans and a cultivator of
local brands transforming them into national powerhouses. Two of those brands are Rouses Markets, a
family-owned grocery with over 35 locations, and River Parish Disposal, the area’s largest independent
waste disposal company. In addition, Alford worked with Radiofone, where he helped transform
the local cellular company into the largest independent cellular company in the United States. His
campaigns for these well known brands have won countless local, regional and national awards.
WINNERS
Robert Alford, founder of Alford Advertising, is the ultimate embodiment of the creative spirit of New
Orleans. At an early age, he recognized the vibrancy and culutural uniqueness of New Orleans and he
poured his creative talents and passion into building one of the first advertising agencies in the city Pertuit & Alford Advertising.
