InfraStruXure Central Summary
An IT-ready, scalable monitoring system which collects,
organizes, and distributes critical alerts, surveillance video and
key information, providing a unified view of complex physical
infrastructure environments from anywhere on the network
● Availability
• InfraStruXure Central enables an efficient way for organizations to monitor
their company-wide multi-vendor physical infrastructure: power, cooling,
security, and environment. Real-time monitoring, user-defined reports and
graphs, and instant fault notification and escalation enable quick
assessment and resolution of critical infrastructure events that can
adversely affect IT system availability.
● Agility
• This centralized repository of critical information can be accessed by
multiple users from anywhere on the network, creating a consolidated view
of the physical infrastructure.
• Total Cost of Ownership
• The platforms can grow with changing business needs through additional
device licenses and add-on surveillance, capacity management and change
management modules

What is Modular Power Distribution?
Hot Swappable Standardized Modules Containing Circuit Breakers, Branch Current
Monitoring (BCM) and an Output Whip (Cord set) to feed IT Racks.
APC by Schneider Electric – Christine Reichwein – December 16, 2008
What is Modular Power Distribution?
● Modular Power Distribution is a combination of Power
Distribution Modules (PDMs) and Modular Power Distribution
Units, known as either a PDPM or PDUM.
● The Power Distribution Modules consists of an industry standard
circuit breaker, branch current monitoring (BCM), output cable
and connector plug combined into a hot-swappable module that
feeds power to IT racks.
● The Modular PDU is the source of amperage for the rest of the
distribution, housing the hot-pluggable power backplane, the
main circuit monitoring bus, and the support structure for the
PDMs.
● Each Modular PDU shares the same basic design which enables simple plugand-play for any Distribution Modules into any Modular Power Panel of
common voltage.

Advantages
● Repeatable Design
● Most flexible power distribution concept in the market.
● Allows higher power densities in distribution products.
● Auto sensing of breaker size and location can be done to better automate
BCM set up
● Supports 400V Distribution in NAM
● Safe and speedy Installation
● Disruptive innovation allowing for hot swap-ability without downtime, hot
work or highly skilled electricians.
● Empowers Users.
● No need to predict future rack power requirements.
● Similar costing to current distribution methods.

½ Rack PDU
„ High Density Design – 266kW in ½ rack
† Power/Floor-space increase - Current offer
is more than 2X the floor space with ~half
the density
† Electrical Efficiency - Using autotransformer
technology, 10X the efficiency of standard
transformers
† Reduced Procurement costs - Higher
voltage distribution means thinner cord sets
to the rack, at today's skyrocketing copper
cost - means big savings upfront
† Reduced Lifecycle costs - ease of use and
much quicker Moves/Adds/Changes saves
installation costs
† Reduced data center complexity - User
configurable distribution, pre- and post-sale
† Safely expand and service without forced
shutdowns
