The book was inspired by a private collection, which
was the result of patient study and passionate
interest in watchmaking, as well as its related cultural
history.

This is why we have decided to tell the story of time
through the timepieces that we love, as they relate to
sports, fashion, society and entertainment. This book
was intended for enthusiasts and connoisseurs, but
it is also a valuable tool for novices. As DesbarreuxBernard said, "books are a great friends, and like all
great friends, they won't deceive".

Collecting is an ancient activity closely linked to
This was the inspiration for the book "Chronograph
Wristwatches, Precious memories of the 20th
Century".
This three-volume book, entirely devoted to the
world of chronograph wristwatches, retraces the
history of these popular and fascinating timepieces
produced in the last century. It recounts stories,
biographies, important events, and gives a
framework that allows the reader to understand the
period’s background. The author has based the book
on chronograph typology.
The first volume, "Single button and two button
chronographs with two counters produced before
WWII" was published in May 2010. The second
volume will be entitled "Chronograph wristwatches
with two buttons and two counters and two buttons
and three counters, manufactured after 1945" and
the third and final volume, "Military and complicated
chronograph wristwatches", will follow the evolution
of the production of watches with complications
(triple calendar, split seconds, moon phase,
astronomic, etc...).

MS
Auction
by Philip Duffell
This October will be the first annual auction
to benefit The National Multiple Sclerosis
Society. This will be a unique opportunity
for watch collectors to buy the finest Swiss
watches in an auction whose proceeds will
be used to support the movement towards a
world free of Multiple Sclerosis.
The event will take place on Wednesday,
October 20th at the Fuller Building in New
York City and will include both an on-line
auction and live auction of watches and
jewelry.
This event was developed by Phil Duffell,
a veteran of over 20 years in the watch and
jewelry industry and manager of Cellini
Jewelers at the Waldorf Astoria. Phil was
diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2007
and saw this event as a way to raise money
and awareness for others affected by MS.
He created the MISSIONMS.org website and
event to educate the public about multiple
sclerosis as well as to promote this event. “I
can’t put into words the gratitude I have for
Antiquorum and all the watch and jewelry
companies who have donated their products
and time," says Phil. "With their help, I am
sure it will be a great success”.
The National MS Society’s mission is to create
a world free of MS. This year’s event will impact
and benefit all those living with multiple sclerosis.
“We are so grateful to Mr. Duffell and
Antiquorum for their enthusiasm, dedication
and support for this event and our movement
toward a world free of MS. Funds raised
through this auction will be used to support
cutting-edge research conducted by the
National MS Society as well as fund-critical
programs”, said Gina Murdoch, VP of
Development for the National MS Society.

About the National Multiple Sclerosis Society
The National MS Society is a collective of passionate individuals who want
to do something about MS now-to move together toward a world free of
multiple sclerosis. MS stops people from moving. We exist to make sure
it doesn't.
We help each person address the challenges of living with MS through
our 50-state network of chapters in the United States. The Society helps
people affected by MS by funding cutting-edge research, driving change
through advocacy, facilitating professional education, and providing
programs and services that help people with MS and their families move
their lives forward.
Early and ongoing treatment with an FDA-approved therapy can make a
difference for people with multiple sclerosis. Learn about your options by
talking to your health care professional and contacting the National MS
Society at www.nationalMSsociety.org or 1-800-(344-4867).
For more information, please call Gina Murdoch at the New Jersey Metro
Chapter at (732) 660-1005 x44316 or via e-mail at gina.murdoch@nmss.org.
