Liriope Emerald Goddess is a clumping, grass-like perennial
used in borders or as a ground cover. It is a fast-growing
evergreen with good cold and drought tolerance. Emerald
Goddess thrives in zones 5 through 11 and has been rated
as an above-average performer and highly resistant to disease.
Liriope Emerald Goddess is a relatively new liriope that
grows up to 24 inches tall in full sun or full shade. It has dark
green foliage and produces blooms that are stable from
mid June through early September. It spreads via clumps,
which makes it an inspired groundcover choice or an easycare edging option along pathways. Liriopes need occasional grooming by cutting back the foliage in late winter just
before new growth begins to remove old browning foliage.
Emerald Goddess can easily be confused with other liriopes
based only on it’s appearance but the real differences come
in its resistance. It has a good resistance to common fungal
and bacterial plant pathogens that often plague some liriopes. It’s floral display has better intensity, height uniformity and duration than other liriope varieties. ‘Emerald Goddess’ also stays more upright during the winter months.
