New in Poland. The same is true for our new investment in Poland. The country has long been a
focus of ours, not only because of its optimal geographic location with connections to our strong regions Germany, the Czech Republic and Slovakia,
but also because we continue to see Poland as an
important growth market in Europe.
Quehenberger’s former national subsidiary with its
seven branches and participation in the Polish PSD
general cargo cooperation fits in exactly with our
idea of ​​a compact, powerful unit. We now plan to
systematically expand this new network.

Since 1 July, more than 500 new employees at 17
sites have joined the Geis Group: In southern Germany we have taken over the three Logwin branches
in Gochsheim, Nuremberg and Ludwigsburg with
a total of ten sites and 405 employees. And the Polish subsidiary of Quehenberger Logistics, which
employs 88 employees at seven different sites, now
also belongs to the Geis Group. A warm welcome
to them all!

with Quehenberger Logistics: In the future, we will
offer combined solutions for cargo transport from
Germany and Austria to Russia. This will create the
basis in Central and Eastern Europe for innovative
procurement and distribution concepts of interest to
our international customers. We will combine our
collective strengths to exploit the potential offered
by Eastern Europe.
Without doubt, our company has become stronger
and bigger through the two acquisitions, with the
collaboration extending our network in Eastern Europe. You can rest assured, however, that the proven
medium-sized structure of the Geis Group, which is
characterized by flexibility, customer proximity and
quick decisions, will remain in place.
A strong unit in Europe
Optimal strengthening. Whether in Germany
or in Poland, all the new sites serve to strengthen
the Geis Group. First, there are the former Logwin
branches that now do business under the Geis Transport und Logistik GmbH name. The branch offices
at Nuremberg and Gochsheim near Schweinfurt increase our regional presence in Franconia, while the
Ludwigsburg branch near Stuttgart expands our activities geographically.
The new sites of course strengthen us operationally
and fit perfectly into the existing Road Services and
Logistics Services product portfolio. On this basis
we will now expand the sites and their fleets and logistics activities further. Existing Logwin customers
can rest assured that we will continue to provide all
the services currently provided, and that we will develop them further in their interest.

Stronger in Germany, a new network in Poland and cooperation in Eastern Europe: In recent months,
the Geis Group has greatly expanded its national and international network. Its aim in doing so is to
further increase the Group’s regional and international strengths.
Stronger in Germany
On 1 July of this year the Geis Group took over the
Nuremberg, Gochsheim/Schweinfurt and Ludwigsburg branches of Logwin Solutions Deutschland GmbH. As a result, Geis gained around 405
new employees. They work at a total of ten sites in
the areas of Road Services and Logistics Services
and last year generated a turnover of around 105
million euros.
A well-functioning unit. “With these three
branches we expand our regional presence. They
are profitable and have long-standing relationships with prominent customers”, say Geis-Holding Managing Directors Joachim Fink and Dr.
Johannes Söllner. “In addition, they form a wellfunctioning unit. We want all these strengths to
continue, as also indicated by the common company name, Geis Transport und Logistik GmbH.”

Rapid investment. Immediately after the takeover the Geis Group began investing in the new sites – both in existing logistics projects as well as in
the fleets, including in industrial vehicles, trucks
and trailers as well as in the expansion of real estate. Thus, in the future all the vehicles will display

Gochsheim – transportation,
logistics and more
From Gochsheim near Schweinfurt the Geis
Transport und Logistik GmbH manages another five sites. Headed by Helmut Blanke, the
Gochsheim main branch is primarily active in the
sector Road Services. It offers domestic and European part- and full-load shipment services as well
as regular and groupage services. In addition, the
branch is an area contract freight forwarder for
companies in the automotive industry with respect
to their procurement logistics.
Site Schweinfurt Hafenstraße
At Schweinfurt’s port on the river Main, Geis
Transport und Logistik GmbH runs a supplier
warehouse with an area of ​​5,400 square metres.
Warehousing, distribution and procurement
logistics as well as value-added services are some
of the services offered on site.
Site Schweinfurt Röntgenstraße
This site is dedicated to container management.
Empty containers are stored and processed inside
the 5,500 square metres hall. The production
lines of an automotive-industry customer are also
supplied with products from here.
Site Knetzgau
Around 25 kilometres east of Gochsheim lies
Knetzgau. Here Geis manages the on-site logistics
for a soft drinks manufacturer. Employees distribute the products as part- and full-loads to the
grocery sector directly from the production line.
Nuremberg: transshipment and high-bay
warehouse under one roof
From Ipsheimer Straße in the West of Nuremberg
Geis organizes European groupage, part- and fullload transports and also provides warehousing services at a 5,800-pallet-capacity high-bay warehouse.
Also on offer are just-in-time and just-in-sequence
procurement and distribution logistics, as well as
customs management. Key sectors are healthcare,
automotive and brown and white goods. The
main branch for two additional sites, it is
managed by Werner Schelter.

The Ludwigsburg site provides both road and
logistics services. Managed by Peter Reinhold, it
offers customers a full range of national and international distribution and procurement logistics, warehousing logistics and in-house logistics,
including outsourcing projects. In addition, the
Ludwigsburg team offers media logistics, with
overnight delivery of magazines and newspapers.

Sites Schwebheim
On an area totalling around 28,000 square
metres, the two Schwebheim sites, which are
situated in their immediate vicinity, provide
warehousing, procurement and distribution logistics. Employees also process products locally for
automotive suppliers and provide other valueadded services, ranging from quality control
through assembly to packing.

A new network
in Poland
On 1 July 2013, the Geis Group also took over the Polish subsidiary of Quehenberger Logistics.
This means Geis now has a new network of seven sites and 88 employees in Poland.
A
fter setting up our nationwide networks in
the Czech Republic and Slovakia, our increased involvement in Poland is now the
logical continuation of our strategy for Eastern Europe”, explain Managing Partners Hans-Georg Geis and
Wolfgang Geis. “After all, the Czech Republic and Slovakia have especially close commercial contacts with
Poland. This is especially true for the transport and
logistics sector.” Previously the Geis Group had two
Geis Cargo International Poland Ltd. branches
in Poland and focused mainly on air- and
sea-freight.
The close links between the Polish company and the
national companies in the Czech Republic and Slovakia are reflected in the management: The new Managing Director is Michal Martinovič, who has occupied
the same position at Geis CZ and Geis SK for years.
Deputy Director for Finance is Luboš Scheinost,
who is also responsible for finances at Geis CZ. Adam
­Kwiatkowski, one of the Polish directors at Quehenberger, will provide continuity as Geis PL’s new ­Deputy
Director of Operations.

Nationwide coverage. As part of the
acquisition, the Geis Group has also acquired the company’s share in the PSD – Polski System
Dystrybucji general cargo partnership. PSD will allow
Geis PL to have nationwide coverage with respect to
general cargo transports.

Goal: Full-service. Currently the new team is focusing on integration into the Geis Group. Hardware
and software systems are being reconciled and transports retimed. Geis now plans to expand the forwarding and logistics areas. “We want to conclude integration into the Geis Group by sometime next year”, says
Michal Martinovič. “Our goal is for customers to and
from Poland to be able to enjoy the same high level of
service as the one already enjoyed by customers in the
countries in which the Geis Group is active.” —

The cooperation area extends from Germany and
Austria as far as Russia, with Quehenberger Logistics focusing from its base in Austria on SouthEastern Europe, including Romania and Bulgaria as
well as Russia, Ukraine, Moldova and Belarus. The
Geis Group from its base in Germany will cover the
Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland.
Standardization across the entire network.
The jointly-operated 15-country cargo network
resulting from this cooperation will have standardized products, processes and information technology. “This basis will allow both partners to carry
out all types of procurement or distribution operations”, says Quehenberger co-owner and CEO
Christian Fürstaller. Geis Managing Director
Joachim Fink adds: “In future we will be able to offer our international trade and industry customers
innovative concepts that we already implemented
in highly-developed markets, anywhere in Central
and Eastern Europe.”

Continued independence. Cooperation in the
cargo area in Central and Eastern Europe is a strategic field that both companies want to develop together. The partnership, however, will remain limited to this area. Both companies will continue their
existing cooperations with companies in Southern,
Western and Northern Europe. They will also continue to work independently in the areas of transportation management and contract logistics. —

Besides agreeing on the takeover of Quehenberger’s Polish subsidiary by Geis,
both companies have also agreed to intensify their strategic cooperation in the
international cargo area. In future, therefore, Geis together with the Austrian
logistics provider will offer customers an all-round solution for procurement
and distribution logistics in Central and Eastern Europe.

years of success as an area
contract freight forwarder
For the past 20 years the Geis Group has been an area contract freight forwarder for Daimler AG at its site in
Bad Neustadt. Geis also carries out work for Daimler in Nuremberg. At both sites the successful cooperation
between the two companies is continuing, and the contract has been extended for another five years.
F
rom airbags to spark plugs: Nowadays external suppliers on
average supply around 80 percent of all vehicle components.
As an area contract freight forwarder, the Geis Group organizes the reliable and on-time transportation of the goods from suppliers in specific areas to the car manufacturer’s production plants.
Geis delivers components to Daimler from more than 500 suppliers, collecting the items the day after the order is placed. The items
are then generally transshipped in the terminals in Bad Neustadt
and Nuremberg, with groupage consignments up to around 2.5
tonnes being consolidated before being forwarded to the plants.
Exceptions are directly-driven partial loads (so-called milk runs)
and full loads.
Regardless of the route chosen, the supplied parts are always delivered within time windows that have been precisely coordinated with
the plants. These are very tight at just 60 minutes.
From its sites in Bad Neustadt and Nuremberg, Geis supplies required
components to 14 Daimler sites as well as to the various external warehouses and companies that form part of the company’s manufacturing
network. The logistics service provider transports around 1,000 tonnes
each day. “We are proud that Daimler has entrusted this work to us
for the past two decades”, says Klaus Stäblein, Managing Director of
Hans Geis GmbH + Co KG. “And we are doing everything to ensure
that our customer remains satisfied in the coming years, so that our
very good customer relationship is maintained for decades to come.” —

completed their training with outstanding
results, one even with distinction.
21-year-old Sabrina Grünzig, a trainee forwarding and logistics service specialist, was
awarded the top grade of 1.0 in her diploma.

Profession with future:
truck driver at Geis
Truck driving is a profession that often still
suffers from a poor image. Wrongly, in the
opinion of Volker Kindler, Head of Personnel
Management at Geis in Bad Neustadt. He wants
to do away with prejudices and inspire young
people to train as professional truck drivers.
Mr Kindler, why are young people not keen to become
­professional drivers?
The most commonly-held prejudices against the job are probably
that it is not particularly challenging because it involves driving and
not much more, and that your workplace is limited to your cab. Anyone who believes all this, however, has a completely wrong image
of the profession. Unfortunately, many people do seem to have this
image, especially young people. As a result, logistics service providers are having to struggle with a huge shortage of skilled workers in
this important area.
How can you persuade school graduates to take up an
­apprenticeship as a professional truck driver at Geis?
Drivers have a very varied job and carry a lot of responsibility. Transporting goods is naturally the core task, but there’s still a lot more
to it – for example, route planning, securing loads, customer contact
and vehicle maintenance. These diverse tasks require thorough and
high-quality training – and that is exactly what we offer.

How is the training at Geis structured?
It lasts three years and content-wise is divided up into three: At
the driving school, apprentices at the age of 17 acquire a Class B
driving licence, followed by a Class CE driving licence at the age
of 18. The practical content is taught locally by the company. Here
apprentices primarily work as drivers, but they also work in the
transshipment hall and in the workshop. They learn the theory at
vocational college, which they attend every four weeks. We also
offer our apprentices excellent training opportunities through our
own transport training academy. And if they complete their training
successfully, the chances of being taken on are very high!

“System heart”
officially
­inaugurated
At the end of June, the Geis Group officially opened its new,
combined transshipment centre. The terminal in Zvolen
houses both a cargo hub and a transshipment hall for parcels,
and replaces the existing logistics facility in Banská Bystrica
20 kilometres away.
A
t the ceremony the Geis Group welcomed around 300
guests, including guests of honour Miroslav Kusein, the
Mayor of Zvolen, and Reinhard Wiemer, representative
of the German Embassy in Slovakia. As part of the ceremony, Managing Partners Hans-Georg Geis and Wolfgang Geis presented the
site’s new manager Rastislav Petrík with a symbolic key to the logistics terminal.
In his opening speech, Wolfgang Geis described the new hub as a
“historic milestone” in the further development of the Geis Group
in Slovakia. Guests were given a tour of the impressive state-of-the
art facility. —

Just one year after the start, the Geis Group and JELD-WEN
Door Solutions have already expanded their collaboration:
Geis is now also logistics service provider at the company’s
production plant in Oettingen (Bavaria).
J
ELD-WEN Door Solutions is part of the
American JELD-WEN Group, the world’s
largest supplier of doors and windows. Since
last year, the Geis Group has run JELD-WEN’s
national distribution centre for the Do-It-Your-
afar, as its platform warehouse is the second tallest building in the locality after the church tower.
The plant went into operation 40 years ago, and
JELD-WEN has produced more than 20 million internal doors here. Currently, the production volume is just under one million doors per
year. Production in Oettingen is focused on highquality interior doors and a full range of technical
doors, for example for the areas of fire protection,
safety and noise protection.
The primary task of the on-site Geis employees
is to receive the finished doors from the production
lines using front-cabin forklifts, and to temporarily
store them on shelves. They then pick the doors
and pack them on pallets as ordered by the customer or another JELD-WEN site. Depending on the
order, frames are also picked and packed with the
doors. These come from the factory in Mittweida
(Saxony) and are sent from there or the ErlangenEltersdorf warehouse to Oettingen. Finally, Geis
employees prepare consignments for distribution
throughout Germany and Switzerland.

JELD-WEN with its internal distribution logistics”, says Götz Gaudlitz, Division Manager of
Geis Industrie Service GmbH. “So far the collaboration has been running perfectly.” —
Petobel chooses the logistics experts of the Geis Group
Petobel.de contains everything you need for your pets. The Geis Group takes care of the logistics.
Petobel (www.petobel.de) launched in
mid-September with a range of around
6,000 articles, to be expanded in the coming months to around 10,000. The Geis
Group will take care of the logistics for the
innovative online shop for pet food and accessories at its warehouse in Nieder-Olm
near Mainz, where Geis already organizes
Granini’s logistics. The facility meets the
highest hygiene standards and is certified
for food logistics.
To ensure that Petobel customers are completely satisfied, at the warehouse Geis takes
care of inventory management, same-day
order processing, and packing and shipment
of the items. To this end, it has installed
shelving and IT interfaces and invested in
packaging technology. On initial delivery of
the products, Geis first of all records all the
master data, such as the size and weight of
the goods, including the EAN. It also continuously logs expiration dates and lot numbers. Anyone who shops at www.petobel.de
therefore not only benefits from an intuitive
order process and fair prices, but also from
secure and fast delivery thanks to Geis’s
many years of logistical experience.

Short collection cycles and changing trends nowadays
characterize the fashion industry, with speed being of the
essence. For international fashion label Drykorn Geis now
uses RFID technology, thereby speeding up goods inwards and
goods outwards enormously.
T
he Geis Group has taken care of warehousing for Drykorn at its logistics centre in
Kürnach near Würzburg since May 2011.
Each delivery season, Geis picks and packs around
140,000 articles. For the fashion label, Geis employees take care of goods inwards, quality control,
storage, individual packing and pricing for fashion
store chains and goods outwards.
Using the new RFID gate, Geis has sped up goods
inwards in particular. As in the past, employees
continue to unload the boxed goods from the containers. However, since late July, the Drykorn articles now run over a conveyor line fitted with RFID
readers. As each item has a corresponding tag, the
readers can determine in seconds which items in
which sizes, styles and colours are contained in
each box without opening it.

Goods inwards now works faster too, with
100%-quality assured. Employees simply push the
packed consignments through the RFID gate, and
a few seconds later the IT system reports whether
the order has been executed correctly. Drykorn
uses the RFID system not just in the warehouse but
throughout its entire supply chain. Drykorn tags
are attached to the clothes during production, and
accompany the goods through the warehouse and
into the stores. Everything has to be quick so that
the latest fashions are always on the shelves. —

managers and project managers when it comes to the
analysis, presentation, planning and implementation
of new and complex logistics solutions. —
Semikron:
New Site Manager
On 1 July 2013, Sascha Weniger was appointed Geis
Industrie-Service GmbH’s (GIS) new Site Manager
at Semikron in Nuremberg, where GIS is responsible for the customer’s in-house logistics.
As the new Site Manager, the 46-year-old acts as
an interface between Semikron and Geis. Sascha
Weniger also directs and coordinates all processes,
ensures that the set targets are implemented, and
oversees further development of the site.
A business graduate (WFA) and certified trade manager, Sascha Weniger
has longstanding experience as a manager of
national and international logistics projects.
He previously occupied
managerial positions at
Baur Fulfillment Solutions in Burgkunstadt
and the Klinkhammer
Group in Nuremberg.

Three special armoured vehicles weighing around 100 tonnes

Geis recently successfully organized a transport from Israel
to Germany.

air and sea as well as export projects to
Kabul and Mogadishu for this customer,
this was our first import project from Israel for
them”, says Daniel Panic, SDV Geis’s Site Manager at Villingen-Schwenningen, who oversaw the
project together with Torsten Salewski from the
sales department.

the port of Ashdod, where they were divided up
and shipped to Hamburg. On arrival, SDV Geis
Villingen-Schwenningen, in close cooperation with
Sven Boysen, Group Leader Ocean-Freight Gateway in Hamburg, oversaw the unloading and onward transportation of the vehicles by rail and low
loader.
One month after the transport operation was initiated, the vehicles arrived on time at the customer
in Southern Germany, where they were checked,
serviced and prepared for their new use.
The tight time schedule and the transport
After two months of preparation, the operation
began at the end of August in Ein Yahav in Israel
following handover of the freight. Using a crane
commissioned by SDV Geis, the approximately
30-tonne tracked armoured vehicles were lifted
onto a low loader. The three XXL mine-clearing
route, which involved the low loaders and crane
vehicles having to travel through deserts and over
unpaved roads to the Jordanian border region,
made ​​the operation somewhat of a challenge. But
despite the difficult conditions, the SDV Geis Villingen-Schwenningen team once again proved its
skill and expertise. —
Apprentices support “Sternstunden”
Apprentices at Geis’s headquarters in Bad Neustadt regularly feed pennies into
their piggy bank. When in June many areas in Germany were inundated with
floods, they decided to help and donate the money to “Sternstunden e.V. – Wir
helfen Kindern”, the organization that helps children in need around the world.
The management rounded up the amount to 500 euros. The money went to the
“Hochwasserhilfe Bayern” (“Flood Relief Bavaria”) emergency relief fund, which
is helping to reconstruct and renovate facilities for children. —

The new

have arrived!
The new
apprentices at
the company’s
headquarters in
Bad Neustadt…
The first few weeks are already behind
them: In August and September, a total
of exactly 100 apprentices entered the
exciting world of logistics and began their
training at Geis sites.
As in previous years, the largest group of apprentices this
summer are the 52 apprentices training to become forwarding and logistics service specialists, followed by 26
warehouse logistics specialists. A relatively new group
this year are the trainee professional truck drivers, which
number nine.

In total more than 300 trainees are currently completing
eight different types of apprenticeships at Geis, including
four students who are completing dual-degrees in logistics management in Fulda or Bachelor’s degrees in logistics in Nuremberg and four students of SDV Geis at the
Frankfurt, Freiburg and Stuttgart sites.
High retention rate. “Our new apprentices have
made ​​a good choice, because an apprenticeship at Geis
is not only sound, it is also an investment in their future”,
says Volker Kindler, Head of Personnel Management.
“We are very proud of the fact that we train our employees
ourselves, carefully promote their skills, and generally try
to take them on at the end.”

The very high retention rate at Geis sites is proof that
the apprentices are also extremely keen to be kept on. At
the company’s headquarters in Bad Neustadt, for example,
all commercial and industrial apprentices who successfully completed ​​their apprenticeships this summer were
offered permanent employment.

The countdown to 2014 has begun. Although demographic change is making it increasingly difficult to
find apprentices, this year Geis once again succeeded in
filling almost all the vacant positions in line with its requirements. “Only companies that take training seriously
can instil confidence in young people”, says ­Volker Kindler. At Geis preparations for the coming year are therefore already in full swing. In September a ­“Training Day”
took place at its headquarters in Bad Neustadt, at which
interested young people could find out more about the
different apprenticeships, internships and work-study

Sporty and
athletic!
The “Challenge Roth” Triathlon.
W
erner Dettenthaler (swimming), Stefan Zechentmayer
(cycling) and Erwin Kraus
(running) from Geis Eurocargo in Nuremberg covered a total distance of more than
220 kilometres in the “Challenge Roth”
triathlon in mid-July. Thanks to their
combined efforts, the three made it to
the end. After almost twelve hours they
completed the relay competition and thus
achieved a very good result.
In preparation, the trio together with 23
other colleagues from Geis Eurocargo
a few weeks earlier also took part in the
Nuremberg FunRun. In bright sunshine
they all successfully completed the nearly
ten-kilometre-long route along the MainDanube Canal.
Geis shows it has stamina: This summer, a large number of employees once again
displayed their sporting ability at the WÜ2RUN company run in Würzburg, the City
Run in Bad Neustadt, the Nuremberg FunRun and the triathlon in Roth.
The Hans Geis GmbH took part in the
Sparkassen City Run in Bad Neustadt for
the third time in a row, and with 62 runners even represented the second-largest
group at the event. The team sweated for
a good cause: As more than 2,500 runners
took part, the local savings bank lost its
bet and donated 10,000 euros to children’s
nurseries in Rhön-Grabfeld.

In early July, 25 employees from Hans
Geis GmbH in Kürnach and from Geis Industrie-Service GmbH in Würzburg took
part in the WÜ2RUN in Würzburg – the
second time the companies have participated in the race, with the number of runners more than doubling since last year. —
Six new authorized signatories
Over the past few months, six executives of the Geis Group were appointed authorized signatories.
Jochen Geis
On 16 May, Jochen Geis was
appointed an authorized
signatory of Geis Transport
und Logistik GmbH in Bad
Neustadt. The 30-year-old
has worked as an Assistant
Manager at the Geis Group
since 2009.
Helmut Blanke
On 24 June, Site Manager Helmut Blanke was appointed an
authorized signatory for Geis
Transport und Logistik GmbH
in Gochsheim. The 50-year-old
joined Logwin in 2008 and has
worked for the Geis Group since the acquisition of
the Logwin sites on 1 July.
Werner Schelter
On 24 June, Site Manager
Werner Schelter was appointed an authorized signatory for Geis Transport und
Logistik GmbH’s Nuremberg
site. The 59-year-old joined
Logwin in 1997 and switched to Geis following
the takeover on 1 July.
Sebastian Seehofer
Sebastian Seehofer has
been managing the Hans
Geis GmbH site in Bad Neustadt for the past year. The
44-year-old was appointed
an authorized signatory on
4 July of this year.
Peter Reinhold
On 24 June, 61-year-old Peter Reinhold was appointed
an authorized signatory of
Geis Transport und Logistik
GmbH in Ludwigsburg,
where he is the Site
Manager. Peter Reinhold joined Logwin in 2011,
before switching to Geis on 1 July following the
company’s takeover of the Logwin sites.
Markus Rudert
On 25 July, Markus Rudert
was appointed an authorized signatory of Bischoff
International GmbH in Naila.
The 46-year-old is the Sales
Manager there, and has
worked for the Geis Group
since 2007.

Anniversaries
Over the past few months, nine
Geis employees have celebrated
their 25th anniversary with the
company, and three have even
celebrated their 40th anniversary.
Tanja Knauer
began working for
Bischoff in Naila on
15 August 1988 as
a trainee forwarding merchant, and today works as
an Administrator in the third-party
billing area.
Whether real-time tracking or
paperless picking: in transport and
logistics nothing nowadays works
without modern IT systems. But the
more significant they become, the more
important are security and maximum
availability. Because of this, the Geis
Group has for years been placing a
strong emphasis on IT security. And
this security is now even certified.
Vasilije Miskovic
joined Geis’s customer Knorr-Bremse
as a forklift driver
on 20 June 1973. In
2006 he switched to Geis IndustrieService GmbH in Oberschleißheim,
where he works in the Knorr-Bremse
dispatch department.
Silke Marschner
After her apprenticeship at SCAC
(Deutschland) GmbH,
Frankfurt, which she
began on 1 September 1988, Silke
Marschner now works as an Administrator in the air-freight import
billing department at SDV Geis.
Karl Skoruppa
joined Militzer &
Münch as a trainee
forwarding merchant
on 1 September 1973.
Today he is responsible for trade
customer service at Geis Logistics +
Trade in Hof.
Armin Haas
began his apprenticeship at Hans Geis
GmbH in Nuremberg on 1 September 1988. Today he works for the
successor company SDV Geis as an
Airfreight Export Administrator and
mainly looks after large customers.
The good news first:
so far there have not
been any problems
with the system’s
availability – not in
forwarding or in logistics. And it’s supposed to stay that
way. This is down to,
among other things,
its
Group-wide
ISMS (Information
Security
Management System). With
its defined rules and procedures, it is designed to
ensure ongoing information security and thus the
smooth running of business processes in the company as well as their continuous improvement.
Since August this year, the ISMS of the Geis Group
has been certified according to ISO 27001 by TÜV
Rheinland.
The ISMS process at Geis is based on the PDCA
cycle (Plan, Do, Check, Act). This constantly repeating loop leads to continuous quality improvement of the system and data security. As part of the
ISMS, Geis with the help of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) has defined all core processes and
incorporated them into process instructions.
Geis has also introduced a risk management system
to evaluate all IT assets. It enables potential risks
to be identified early on and appropriate measures
to be implemented. It also includes an emergency management system, with clear guidelines and
rules of conduct for emergency situations. The
entire ISMS procedure is regularly checked using
internal audits to determine reliability. —
