A WORD FROM OUR PASTOR
Have you ever watched a movie with an epic storyline where at the end you find the main characters looking forward with “hope”
of what the future will bring? [For you Star Wars fans, I’m thinking Episode IV: A New Hope]. That is how I feel as pastor of
LBF as we enter this our 190th year of ministry. Our story as a church family is epic, especially by U.S. church standards West of
the Mississippi. I’ve studied LBF’s story from its beginnings to our current reality in depth over the past years in my doctoral
studies and it has been fascinating work. Here are a handful of notable highlights from our past:
·Established in 1819 on 10 Mile Prairie in the Missouri Territory (Missouri wasn’t born into the Union until 1821)
· LBF has never relocated – still resides on original property gifted in 1819
· LBF has lived through extreme change & national division: Baptist split over slavery in 1845, The Civil War, The
Emancipation Proclamation, World War I, II, the Korean War, the Vietnam war, the Civil Rights Movement, the first
flight of the Wright brothers, the invention of the automobile and the first flight to the Moon, just to name a few

CALENDARS
In the midst of change and division of our past and present, our diverse church has been
held together by God’s grace through the presence of the Holy Spirit! Talk about the
ministry of reconciliation that the Apostle Paul speaks of in 2 Corinthians 5:18-20, we
are living proof!

VOLUNTEER LIST
As we approach our 190th year on December 5, 2009 our Celebration Team is busy dreaming-up ideas for our church family to celebrate our rich & diverse history and also our
bright future that lies ahead. We are scheduled to start our celebration on Sunday, November 29, 2009 and conclude them in early January 2010. Keep your eyes peeled for more
information to come.
It is appropriate that we begin our celebration during Advent. This historic celebration of
the birth of the Christ child, Emmanuel (God with us), will take on new meaning for us as
a church family this year.

NOTES
BILLY AND SARA DEXHEIMER, MINISTERS OF MUSIC
We would like to extend a big “thank you”
to all of the VBS volunteers for making this
year’s VBS such a success! The kids had a
wonderful time learning about God, playing
games, singing and
serving. Everyone involved did an amazing
job and we couldn’t
have asked for better
volunteers.
This is for everyone
currently involved in
any aspect of worship
including singing, playing instruments, sound
and visual. This summit is also for anyone
who is interested in
helping in any of these
areas. We will be focusing on many aspects of our worship
experience and will
brainstorm ideas to
enhance and broaden
worship at LBF. Lunch
Our first ever LBF Wor- will be provided so
ship Summit will take please plant on attendplace Sunday Septem- ing!
ber 20th after church.
As always, if anyone is
interested in helping
with the worship ministry at LBF please let us
know. We are always
looking for people to
share their gifts and
become a part of our
service. Our church is
very blessed in this
area and it is through
the dedication and talent of our members
that God does so many
wonderful things at
LBF.
YOUTH AND CHILDREN’S MINISTRY
JOSH AND ANNIE ARNONE
Josh and Annie have been a
part of the Little Bonne
Femme family since 2008.
Josh grew up in Oak Grove,
MO (the truck stop capital of
the Mid-West), and Annie
grew up in Fulton, MO. They
met and became best
friends at the Mizzou Baptist
Student Union, where they
were both actively involved
in campus ministry. Annie
formed and led the BSU
drama team, while Josh was
the lead audio technician.
They served together as well
as separately through summer missions and discipleship.
Josh and Annie became the
“Arnones” just before graduating from the University of
Missouri with their undergraduate degrees. Josh
holds a BS in Mechanical &
Aerospace Engineering; however, he is still a student at
the University as he pursues
a Ph.D. in Biomechanical
Engineering. His graduate
research and career goals
involve working with medical
doctors to design and optimize orthopedic implants
and medical devices in order to help improve the
health care of trauma patients. Annie holds a BS in
Elementary Education and
has earned an MS in Elementary Education through
the MU Fellows program.
She has taught 3rd grade at
Lee Expressive Arts Elementary and is now teaching 1st
grade at Paxton Keeley.
Josh and Annie have been
involved in youth ministry
since 2006. For over three
years they were the youth
directors at Unity Baptist
Church in Fulton, MO. Beginning with a very small group
of kids in a small country
church, they were blessed to
be a part of something truly
amazing as the Gospel and
family-like community that
was formed changed the
lives of numerous kids who
happened to find their way
there.
In their spare time, they
enjoy traveling, entertaining guests in their
home, watching movies, camping, playing
music, hanging out with
friends and family, and
just being together.
Annie also enjoys theatre, painting, pretty
much anything artsy,
decorating, and Veggie
Tales. On the other
hand, Josh also likes
rocking out on the
drums, building stuff
(from furniture to computers), breaking stuff
(longer list), snow skiing, paintballing, physics,
and Cheese-Its.
Most importantly, Josh and
Annie love Jesus.

20 SOMETHING & COLLEGE AND CAREER

College Updates
Career and 20 Something Updates
A big welcome back to our college students!!!! We are
gearing up for Welcome Back night at the BSU on Thursday,
August 27. LBF will be Peg Leg Point on the Treasure Map
for the BSU. Each student will receive a “Peg Leg” for attending our booth as well as a gold pirates’ coin. Bible
study designed for college students will be offered each
Sunday Morning at LBF. On the 8th of September, we will
be at Columbia College for Welcome Day. We have the
opportunity of meeting students and parents while they are
visiting for the day. On Monday nights at 7:30, bible study
will be offered at Columbia College at the Cougar Den. We
are thankful for Brett Uthe, Alex Smith, and Katie Jo
Wheeler helping out with our music this summer. We are
also thankful that we are a church home for students away
from their families. If you are interested in “adopting a
student” while they are attending here at LBF, please contact Joy Miller at 999-2380 or jmiller@lbfbc.org
Many of our 20 Something group have been busy this summer.
Kyle Stephens was camp director of boys’ camp this year. His
wife, Krissy, was the camp nurse and Jamie Hughes served as
camp pastor. Young men found the Lord due to their service.
Charles Gerhart, Jessie Stephens, Patrick Stanley and others were
instrumental in getting the nursery cleaned out and building a
playground for our little ones. Speaking of little ones, Amy and
Stephen Sapp along with Trisha and Patrick Stanley are expecting
boys this winter. Amy Sapp, Rachel Gerhart, Trisha Stanley, Kari
Hughes, Josh and Annie Arnone have helped Billy and Sara in the
music ministry. Charles while he takes care of so many little jobs
here at LBF. Jamie and Kari Hughes have done an outstanding
job with Upward Football and Cheerleading this fall. Matt and Joni
Splett, along with many others have also helped with this program.
Billy and Sara Dexheimer put together a great vacation bible
school. Finally, we are happy that Josh and Annie Arnone will be
working with our youth. There are so many blessings being
handed out by this group, I am sure I have missed some, but I am
thankful for all.
