DEWATERING & THICKENING LEADING TECHNOLOGIES FROM THE PERFORMANCE LEADER THE INDUSTRY’S MOST POPULAR BELT FILTER PRESS HAS NO EQUAL IN PERFORMANCE, DURABILITY, OR EASE-OF-USE 1. Conditioning Zone Optimized dewatering begins with the proper conditioning of the slurry. The Ashbrook Simon-Hartley® KLAMPRESS® is equipped with a proprietary, variable orifice, in-line polymer mixer that combines polymer and slurry instantly to facilitate rapid flocculation. In addition, KLAMPRESS® technology keeps polymer usage to a minimum, dramatically reducing operational costs—guaranteed. 1 OVERVIEW < TECHNOLOGIES 2 < 2. Gravity Dewatering Zone Gravitational Pressure This zone quickly removes excess liquids and thickens the incoming slurry to improve its dewatering properties. Rapid drainage is encouraged with the use of proprietary chicanes. ADVANCED KLAMPRESS® TECHNOLOGIES continue to set the industry standard for high-performance dewatering. Over the decades, KLAMPRESS® technologies have evolved and optimized dewatering processes. Today the 3 KLAMPRESS® stands as the benchmark by which all other methods, systems Rugged and reliable, KLAMPRESS® technologies have been the number one choice of the nation’s municipalities and industrial facilities for liquid/solids separation. KLAMPRESS® technologies have proven to be far more economical Wedge Pressure Optimizes Dewatering Process Belt Direction and efficient than other belt filter press systems. The KLAMPRESS® line offers the versatility of a wide size range and extensive option 5 packages—allowing custom optimization to individual throughput needs. Specific dryness levels as well as polymer press with technologies advanced enough to guarantee specific dryness and power consumption levels as well as polymer and power consumption rates. rates are < guaranteed— an Ashbrook Simon-Hartley ® exclusive. In addition, the KLAMPRESS® is the industry’s only belt filter 4. Radial Dewatering Zone This zone introduces the slurry to direct radial pressure as well as the effects of shear forces. The perforated roller in this zone aids and accelerates the flow of filtrate away from the pressing area. < 2 Gravitational Pressure APPROACH < and approaches are compared. 3. Wedge Dewatering Zone The KLAMPRESS® fully adjustable dewatering zone uses the natural effects of gradually increasing pressure to reduce the volumes of the suspension in preparation for pressing. ZONE 5. Full-Pressure Dewatering Zone In the Ashbrook Simon-Hartley® KLAMPRESS®, full-pressure dewatering is accomplished with gradually increasing pressure levels—both radial and shear—to achieve maximum dewatering without embedding the slurry into the belts. Belt Direction 4 Perforated Roller 3 Belt Drives The Ashbrook Simon-Hartley® KLAMPRESS® is available with mechanically or electronically variable drive technology. SmartPressª Control Center In the KLAMPRESS®, the adjustable wedge dewatering zone initiates the application of pressure to the dewatering process as it gradually creates a convergence of the upper ® and lower filter belts. The Klampress dewatering wedge plate is fully adjustable—by a single operator while the KLAMPRESS¨ is in full operation— allowing "in process" optimization. Wedge Dewatering Zone SmartPress™ Belt Tensioning System Individually Adjustable Chicanes Operator specified belt tensioning is automatically maintained by the KLAMPRESS® SmartPress™ system, recognizing subtle condition variations such as belt stretching or process changes. Tension outside of the preset tension range will signal the KLAMPRESS® Control Center. KLAMPRESS® chicanes are individually adjustable for optimum plowing efficiency and pivot automatically to allow obstructions to pass without damming. Optimized Wiper Bar Design The specialized, high-density polyethylene wiper bars employed in the KLAMPRESS® gravity drainage zone are closely spaced and arranged in a high-efficiency chevron pattern to optimize filtrate removal. The KLAMPRESS® employs a radial grid and a perforated roller to accelerate dewatering through the use of shear forces and direct radial pressure. This zone acts to protect the solidsconcentrate from the effects of pressure-shock as it moves toward the full pressure zone. Employing the science of finite element analysis, frame components are optimized to ensure rigidity and accurate permanent alignment. Open design maximizes access and allows visual inspection of all internal components. (Frame available in hot-dipped-galvanized carbon steel or stainless steel.) Optimized Frame Design Full-Pressure Dewatering Zone The Ashbrook Simon-Hartley® KLAMPRESS® can be configured with four, six, eight or twelve rollers— depending on individual solids characteristics and dewatering requirements—in its full-pressure dewatering zone. Plus, the Ashbrook SImon-Hartley® KLAMPRESS® can be upgraded at any time over the life cycle of the equipment. The KLAMPRESS® utilizes high-density polyethylene, radius grid to gently optimize dewatering as the solidsconcentrate is introduced to shear forces in the preliminary pressure dewatering zone. Optimized Roller Design The strength of the rollers on the Ashbrook Simon-Hartley® KLAMPRESS® are optimized through the use of specialized stub-end-shaft construction. Drive rollers are coated with Buna N rubber and pressure rollers are coated with thermoplastic nylon. The Ashbrook ARMORDILLO¨ Dewatering Belts SImon Hartley® KLAMPRESS® is provided with high-performance ARMORDILLO® dewatering belts. Application specific weaves and materials are available to optimize liquid/ solids separation. The KLAMPRESS® is equipped with lifetime-rated bearings. Each bearing is protected from contaminates with triple-labyrinth seals and shaftmounted splash guards. 5 SmartPressª Belt Alignment System Advanced Radius Grid Radial Pressure Dewatering Zone ENGINEERING The KLAMPRESS® control center employs advanced digital programmable logic circuits to accurately control process activities, facilitate ease-ofuse, and ensure operational safety. The arrangement of the KLAMPRESS® gravity drainage zone ensures the even distribution of the conditioned slurry over the effective width of the moving filter belt. The filter belt wash stations on the KLAMPRESS® are fitted with papermachine-quality wash systems for each filter belt. Internal cleaning brushes are provided at each of the cleaning stations to keep the shower nozzles open and free flowing. Pre-Installed Hydraulic Power Unit The hydraulic power unit on the KLAMPRESS® is press-mounted and self contained to minimize on-site installation requirements. KLAMPRESS® belt alignment is assured through the use of the legendary SmartPress™, auto-sensing, hydraulic steering system. This selfcontained system provides continuous, smooth guidance control without the need for operator intervention. The KLAMPRESS® is equipped with a proprietary, variable orifice, in-line polymer mixer that combines polymer and slurry instantly (in less than one second at 60 GPM). This advanced, non-clog, static mixer is known for the mixing precision and adjustable throat which allows direct control of mixing energy. Its design optimizes polymer effectiveness and minimizes polymer consumption. KLAMPRESS ® EXTENDED KLAMPRESS ® DEWATERING SYSTEM The KLAMPRESS® is available as a skid-mounted unit when the advantage of a package system is needed. This unit is available for purchase or as a rental unit. The extended KLAMPRESS® provides additional dewatering capability and is available in 4, 6, 8, or 12 roller configurations and can be provided with 2 or 3 belt dewatering capabilities.
