Of course, the preparations started months before with co-chairs Susie Corbett and Pam O’Conner and their team of volunteer chairpersons hard at work. By the time their army of volunteers joined them to stage the event, I do believe every member of the Association on the Island lent a hand. If you view the Festival as a fundraiser, you won’t be impressed with the net of revenues and expenses, but viewed as your Board does, as a vehicle for our members to show off their work, it was a resounding success and we did show a profit. A hearty BZ (consult Navy speak to decipher) to all of you who participated!! Your Board is busy on a number of tasks before we take our summer break. A spring housecleaning of Goodyear is underway and will provide treasures for a yard sale at some point. We will be acting upon significant By-laws changes that will clarify our internal management arrangements. Then, we are exploring additional opportunities for web basing more tasks as has been done with membership and classes. Sadly, this spring season brings the departure of our part-year residents who are such a vital part of our organization. We wish you safe travels and a quick return this fall to awaken us from our summer doldrums. FROM THE MEMBERSHIP DESK Craig Patterson Important Reminder from the Membership Chair As of April 1st, we are into a new membership year; currently we have 170 members who have not rnewed their memberships for the 2015/2016 membership year. There are a number of ways to check to see if your dues have been paid for the 2015/2016 year. Log into the Members Only Homepage on the JIAA Website and if the only function you see is a flashing “Pay My Dues”, that indicates that your dues have not been paid. If you need assistance in Logging into the Members only Homepage, contact me at webmaster@jekyllartsassociation.org. Have the volunteer at the desk at Goodyear look for your name in the Member Directory on the Members Only Homepage, if your name is not listed, your dues have not been paid. Dues ($30 per person) can be paid in a number of different ways: ·Use the “Pay My Dues” function in the Members Only Homepage where you can pay either using Pay Pal or a major credit card. If you need assistance in logging into the Members only Homepage, contact me at webmaster@jekyllartsassociation.org. ·Drop off your dues payment at Goodyear (you can use cash, check or credit card) ·Mail a check for your dues to JIAA, PO Box 13201, Jekyll Island, GA 31527 The 2014/2015 membership year was an exciting one for the association, with a number of excellent programs, more classes than ever before, strong shop sales and a successful Arts Festival; 2015/2016 should be even better, so we encourage everyone to renew their membership as soon as possible so they don’t miss any of the opportunities the association provides for its members. This is your opportunity to tell us what classes you’d like us to offer next year, and to let us know if you need clarification on how to use the new JIAA website to register for classes. The survey will be sent out within the next couple weeks and we truly appreciate your input…several of our new classes this year were the direct result of your comments on last year’s survey. Please be sure to complete it and return it as soon as possible when you receive the link. Remember, the survey is completely anonymous – we do not know who said what. If you would like us to contact you, there will be a spot at the end for comments, and for you to leave your contact information if you choose to do so.
