WELCOME WORDS
Dear guest and competitors,
on behalf of the Town of Supetar I would like to express my
gratitude that Supetar has been chosen to host 15th World
Championshp Boat Angling (U-21).
Island of Brač and Supetar enjoy image of one of the most
beautiful places in the Adriatic, and are traditionaly connected to
the sea, fishing and angling.
Supetar is one of the biggest and bussiest ports on the whole Adriatic coast, and therefore we
see our future in development of nautical tourism.
Being the biggest settlement on the island, Supetar is its economic, cultural and tourist
centre.
We can thank our economic growth primarily to tourism, our great hotel companies and
beautiful sea and beaches. Earler this year we received White flags for our beaches – a
symbol of clean sea water and beaches of the highest ecological quality.
I am very happy that Supetar will host this year's U-21 World Championship Boat Angling, I
wish You all lots of sport luck and to take with You back home only great memories from
Supetar and island of Brač in general.
Welcome to Supetar!
Ivana Marković, mag.oecc-Major of Supetar
Dear anglers and friends,
on behalf of the Organizing comittee of the 15th World
Championship Boat Angling (U-21) and the organizer of this
event - KŠR „Arbun“ Supetar I take this opportunity to invite You
all in Supetar in October.
15th World Championship Boat Angling (U-21) will be the biggest
sport event to take place in Supetar since the 1979 when Supetar
was hosting archery competitions of the VIII Mediterranean
games that took place in Split. Our Club for sport fishing and underwater activities „Arbun“
(KŠR „Arbun“) was founded in 1960 and during this year we celebrate its 55th year of
existence.
Being a host of the 15th World Championship in Boat Angling (U-21) is a great honor
and privilege for us. We are preparing a great event for You and hopefully You will be a
part of it.
See you in Supetar in October !
Ivan Cvitanić, B.Sc.
Organizing comittee & KŠR „Arbun“ president
Supetar Tourist Board director

Dear sportsmen, ladies and gentleman,
A special honor to organize the 15.th World Championship in boat
angling for category youth under 21 has been attributed to a the
Croatian federation of sport fishing on sea. It will be held in
beautiful island Brac and we are certain that the hospitable residents
of Supetar will welcome you cordially and that they will do
everything in their power to make you feel welcome in their little town.It is a great honor
for our Federation to be a part of large CIPS/FIPS-M family that cherishes the principles of
Olympics; peace, equality of all people regardless their skin color and religion and all –
embracing character od sport. These values have been implemented to our young sportsmen
and therefore I’m absolutely convinced that this WC will pass by in this spirit.
I wish to all national teams, to their companions, official staff members and to all other
guests a very pleasant stay in Supetar and may they bring home long-lasting memories of
this great event.
At the end, I wish all the competitors lots of sport luck!
Đuro Marinović dr.med.
President of Croatian Federation of Sport Fishing on Sea

TOWN OF SUPETAR
Supetar is the biggest town on the island of Brač with more than 4000 inhabitants, breathing
the original Dalmatian way of life. It is a a real heart of the island, located in its northern
part, it is island's administrative, cultural, economic and touristic centre. Every year Supetar
welcomes more than 60 000 tourists from all over the world, mostly coming from Germany,
Hungary, France, Slovenia, etc.
Once Supetar was port leading to Nerežišća – historical island’s capital in the inland. Name
Supetar (from St Peter) was mentioned for the first time in 1423 whilst current urban features
Supetar got during the 17th and 18th century. In 1997 was granted a City status. The Supetar
city area covers pitoresque nearby places of Mirca, Splitska and Škrip.
Supetar abounds with points of historical heritage which is not surprising as its history goes
back to the period of Ancient Rome. The aforementioned is proved by remnants from 6th
century: Early Christian mosaic close to the Parish church and villa rusticate at the St
Nicholas promontory, close to the town beach Banj.
The most important sight and pride of Supetar is Ivan Rendić (1849 – 1932), its most famous
artist, the first important sculptor with education background in art, considered the father of
modern Croatian sculpture.

BRAČ – ISLAND OF CULTURE AND ADVENTURE
The island of Brač with its surface of 394 km2 is the most largest Dalmatian island and the
third largest in the Adriatic. The highest peak of the island is Sv. Vid at the altitude of 778 m,
also the highest peak of all Adriatic islands.
Island’s climate is typically Mediterranean, with long, hot and dry summers and short and
mild winters. Brač is a part of the sunniest Adriatic area, with more than 2700 sunshine hours
per year. The annual mean temperature is 15,5°C. A quarter of the island’s surface is covered
in forest.
Brač – island of culture and adventure is widely know as the island of stone. Its white
marble was used to built numerous buildings around the world – part of The White house in
Washington, entrance hall of UN building in New York, parliaments in Budapest, Wien,
Diocletain's palace in Split, and many more.
Brač is an amazing island, beautifull in all of its parts. Faboulus beaches, pitoresque villages,
amazing gastronomy, cultural sites and tradition, make it a unique place for all who visit it.
Welcome to Supetar & Brač, enjoy it with all your senses.
